Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Got placed way down the list on a panel in one of the recent round. On it for two counties, doubt it will ever amount to anything.

Oh god! I really thought once I got placed I would have a start date pretty soon.. I wonder what the hold up is. I'd say they have had a lot of people being assigned to them but surely they need extra staff now more than ever! Hopefully we wont be too much longer

They are swamped at the moment because of the pandemic but they don't have senior staff to train new staff - hence the delay in appointments.

Does anyone know what Batch number they are working off now in Dublin? I was told I'm Batch 14?

I'm wondering this myself. It said I'm batch 14 also? Does it have anything to do with how we did in the interview or how the interviews were grouped together ??

Thank you but panic over. She got invite to interview this morning so that 47 might be the amount of people invited to interview. Phew

Anyone know OOM number they are are for Galway?

  • Registered Users Posts: 22 Katieee323

The batch number is how they group people together. The number of people in each batch can differ between counties but for example you could have the first 100 people called to interview in Batch 1, and the next 100 in Batch 2.

Sometime they also do sub-batches so in Batch 1 - the first 20 maybe batch 1.1 and the next 20 are in batch 1.2 and so on.

So the batch number isn’t necessarily an indicator of how you did in the interview ?

Did anyone get the email requesting an expression of interest for an interview in Co Dublin? I just thought it was unusual because I had selected Dublin as my preferred location!

  • Registered Users Posts: 18 Penny_pocket

Hi, can I ask if it was for expression of interest in customs officer posts or for general Clerical Officer?

I think when expression of interest emails are issued they are for specific roles.....

  • Registered Users Posts: 85 ✭✭abbeybella

I think it's just general CO because I got the one for Customs a while back.

Batch 2 here. Got my job offer earlier in the week.

I placed around OOM 626 for Co. Dublin (Can’t remember exact #)

I received message in late August about the customs officer role and to attend an interview in Sept, I started with application but didn’t really bother finishing it as the role is really of no interest to me and I’ve just moved to Edinburgh. After not completing the form, I assumed I was out of the running competently for CO 2020.

Then I receive another email this month asking if I’m still interested in positions in Co. Dublin. Yep, sure am. I replied and they came back saying I have an interview on 04/11. So because I rejected first interview offer they’re now giving me another one. Didn’t think that would happen.

Does anyone have any thoughts on this? Ideally I’d love a position in the DFA or Dept of Justice (I worked in the Irish embassy, London for some time and loved it) but I think it may be unlikely. Thanking you in advance!

I received the same email asking if I’m still interested in positions in Co. Dublin, however they never stated for which department etc. It was just for general CO.

It simply means the batch you're in.

1000 people apply. Batched in 100s, first 100 in the OOM go in to batch 1 second batch of 100 in the OOM go into batch 2 etc.

Figures are an example only. For the avoidance of doubt batch 2 is done after batch 1 etc.

4 weeks and still nothing back from social protection !!!!!

I emailed them on this query.
"candidates are contacted in Order of Merit (OOM) and PAS work through the batches in descending order. All candidates appointed to the panel will be made an offer.

You placed in Batch 14 OOM ** – we have commenced clearance of Batch 14 and have reached up to OOM 10. PAS cannot provide you with an exact timeframe but your own OOM is likely be reached in the coming weeks
    ."

I didn't find find it very clear to be honest.
So do they start at say, oom 100 and work backwards, or do they start at 1 and work on from that.

I just heard back today from social protection, I was over two weeks waiting. It would be worth your while emailing them to see what is going on, you seem to be waiting a very long time
