Nol2007 Hiya, am looking for a wedding band in drogheda for this july, can you send me on some details. please.
all Dublin bands will go to Drogheda but you need to provide a date when enquiring as if it's this year a lot of bands will be booked already. You'll be better served going through the bands listed here and ringing them to see if they're free, get a price and viewing date and go and see them play. There's no easy way round it unless you just want to book them based on anonymous recommendations on here.

Hi, just wondering if anyone has heard the band Milhouse at a wedding and what they are like? Any other ideas for a wedding band in the Clare area, who play a good mix of songs? Thanks in advance.:)

I'm looking for a band for the 4th june 2011 in tralee. Bit fussy. Don't like swing, Jazz or 70's/80's disco which rules out most wedding bands!! But I do want waltz's, jives, a good siege of ennis and plenty of modern rock/indie. Another problem is we need to hear them live before we make any comittments, but cannot travel too far from tralee/limerick.
    Any suggestions anyone???

Hi have phoned round bands and we've come up with 3/4 possibilities available on our date...but now big question...which one???
Electric Avenue, The Miracles and The Biz are all available on our date and while prices do vary we really want something that suits us...floor fillers for the young and waltzes/jives/bit of Siege of ennis maybe for the older rellies.
All bands are based in the North East so if anyone can point us in the right direction ......much appreciated!!!!

My wife and i got married last September and had our reception in Blairs Cove in west cork. We had Little Creatures and trust me they were absolutely BRILLIANT!!

The floor was full the entire night and everyone commented on what an excellent night they had on the floor after the meal

Disco option was also provided and all at a good price - there are only 2 in the band but it sounds like 7!!

They are 2 brothers and total professionals and gentlemen to deal with. Trust me give them a call and you will not go wrong. 086 8582786

I dont work with or for ANY of these bands, but I have worked along
with many of them in my 30 years of recording wedding videos in Dundalk.

From Drogheda, I would happily recommend that you talk to
    The Great Escape ( 086 ) 353 6625 www.TheGreatEscape.ie or
Deco5 who were formerly known as Raincheck and Exchequer
    ( 087 ) 2245636 www.Dec05.com

Further afield from Dublin, you could call Conor Mc Keown of
Conor Mc Keown Legends of Swing www.connormckeon.ie
    ( 087 ) 905 9479

    I hope these numbers help, if I can help in any other way ;
please feel free to PM me

    Hi Guys,
I am looking for a good quality band for our wedding in Meath Saturday 4th September 2010. I know I am leaving it late to finalise them as some people have booked nearly a year in advance! Would any band members post replys or pm me if they are available for the date above? 99% of bands we have contacted are booked on the night in question. Im pulling my hair out now getting very worried.

    Thanks in advance

    Hi There,

Not true. Wedding bands are always a rip-off, as they are getting about 3 or 4 times as much as they would for a regular gig. It's just a matter of finding one that's good, that won't totally f*ck your ass. You got royally f*cked - I just got patially shafted. Either way, we were both screwed.

Bands play for less money at pubs in order for the couples to come and see them play, it is possible that they make there weekly money one day a week. its a shame you felt a need to assemble a diatribe for people to see, its a shame because that was meant to be your special day, you knew how much it may cost before hand and now your looking back with anger, now we all think that you feel it was the worst day of your life and imagine an angry bride and groom. Every one reading this who are contemplating marriage please know that generally people are very happy on this day and unless something goes awfully wrong they look back on it with love and happiness, they write and thank the band, dj, venue for making their day. a good band will cost you 2000 euro for 6 people thats 250 per musician and the rest for travel expenses. You have to be prepared to enjoy yourselves too. that will help.

elton john would cost £1 million, michael buble £560,000 u2 €10 million.

hmmm, From playing at weddings every week Ive rarely seen couples ask could they come in so I wouldnt have said this was wedding ettiquette but I suppose yes, from a manners point of view it couldnt hurt but would you want to be getting a tap on the shoulder mid dance or mid conversation with a not-oft seen auntie to ask could someone watch your band?

Majority of couples would have had to go and see a band at a wedding anyway, with couples getting engaged at xmas, january and feb is when we see majority of viewers, can spot them lurking at the back of rooms, sides of bars, sitting at free tables all antsy cos theyre not dressed for a wedding afters. :)

9 OUT OF 10 YOUNG COUPLES ASK IF THEY CAN COME IN TO THE WEDDING, THEY WILL ASK THE BAND IF ITS OK AND THE BAND WILL CLEAR IT FOR THEM, ITS ETIQUETTE, THAT COMES FROM PLAYING A WEDDING 5 NIGHTS A WEEK

Other things I have been told to look out for:

Make sure you are paying for a 3 hour set - some bands will charge what seems like a reasonable rate, but this only covers 2 hours. This can leave you with an hour gap between the band and the DJ, which can dampen the evening.

Check if the band will set up before the whole reception - if they do, it will mean less delay between the meal & the music. The venue may not always be able to cater for this though (the band area may be where the head table is).

TWO HOURS IS FINE, The best bands don't do 3 hours. YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR. YOU WILL FIND ITS ENOUGH, THE TRUTH IS ITS UP TO THE BRIDE AND GROOM AND WHAT THEY WANT, I HAD JOOLS HOLLAND AT MINE AND THEY PLAYED FOR AN HOUR AND A HALF, WE WERE HAPPY. MAKE SURE YOU GET A HELPFUL BAND THAT RINGS THE VENUE TO SEE IF IT IS POSSIBLE TO SET UP BEFORE, IT ISN'T ALWAYS. IT WOULD TAKE A GOOD BAND 30 MMINS TO SET UP AND START PLAYING. THE START TIME WILL GENERALLY BE 10 - 10.30 FINISH 12.30 THEN A DJ MAYBE TO FINISH OFF THE NIGHT. THE VENUE WILL BE PUSHING FOR YOU TO BE FINISHED EATING BY 9 BUT THEN YOU HAVE SPEECHES UNLESS YOU DO THEM AT THE START BUT IT NEVER KICKS OFF AS PLANNED, DEPENDING ON WEATHER AND PHOTOS AND WHEN EVERY ONE SITS DOWN. MOSTLY JUST BE PREPARED TO HAVE A LOVELY TIME , DONT WORRY ABOUT ANYTHING IT WILL ALL BE FINE

    Hi Guys,

Any recommendations for a band (+DJ preferably) to play at a wedding in Wicklow in April 2011?

We are really looking for a 'traditional' wedding band who will play the usual songs you hear at weddings and will get the crowd, both young and old, up on their feet.

    Thanks!
