G'wan City! have to beat Mons and wipe the smile off Rodericks face.

A totally offside winner in the 97th min - when only 2 mins should have been played - will do nicely:D

Great match last night. Couldn't believe I was watching City. Even at 6-0 the players were looking for a 7th and they were unfortunate that the score wasn't higher, could of easily of been 8-0.

a much needed confidence boosting win for them before taking on Sligo next week. Hopefully that should be a good game.

Great match last night. Couldn't believe I was watching City. Even at 6-0 the players were looking for a 7th and they were unfortunate that the score wasn't higher, could of easily of been 8-0.

The lads at the back can still improve, though. At 0-0, Monaghan had some very good chances - a good save by McNulty, immediately followed by a block off the line immediately followed by a Monaghan player blasting it over and forcing McNulty into a top class save. If those had gone in, it would've been a very different game.

We had a bit of luck to get us going, with the first two goals. We won't get that in every match. I'll take it, though.

If we work on that and work as hard as we did last Friday, we'll get at least a point against Sligo.

City U19s were just crowned League champions with after beating Shelbourne 5-1 in Tolka Park.

City have two games left. Home to Wexford in Bishopstown two weeks from today, then away to Dundalk in the Cup Final the following Thursday.

Welcome back Cork City! We missed you! I'm a shamrock Rovers fan and I'm delighted as most of us are that your back up where you belong! Good club, great support, proper stadium! Welcome back!

Don't be too hard on your lads just yet as the top tier of the premier is a tough place these days with Rovers, Sligo, Pats and Derry City all fielding strong sides. Best of luck and hope City finish in the top half. Good to have ye back!

Over 3000 down the X tonight. Poor enough game, thought we'd get the draw but it wasn't to be, lost 1-0.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,527 ✭✭✭Paz-CCFC

We deserved a draw out of that. We played some good football in the first half - probably the best all season bar Monaghan. Should've been 1-0 up at half time

McNulty was unbelievable in the second half (though the team as a whole stepped down a gear) - he really put his body on the line. I presume he got man of the match?

Sligo deserved to get a goal, but we deserved one before that - 1-1 would've been fair. Shocking defending by Murray, who had a decent (albeit not great) game before that

Joey Ndo and Danny Ventre are pr*cks. I'm surprised Ndo didn't get sent off. He would've decked the ref if the Sligo player didn't push him away. The Monaghan player got sent off for much less. I'd say he would've seen red, if he went mental after being shown the yellow, rather than before it. And Ventre's actions were disgraceful - pinning an injured McNulty to the ground, when the ball was in and around our 18 yard line. Can't believe the ref or none of the assistants saw it. Other than that, Sligo were a good, clean footballing side. If they keep up their early good form, they'll win the league.

And if we play like we did the last two matches, we'll stay up.

The U19s have completed the double by beating Dundalk 3-2 at Oriel Park.

City went 1-0 down after two points, but a 30 yard bullet from Garry Buckley levelled things up midway through the half. City took the lead 15 minutes later through Eoghan Murphy, but Dundalk equalised on the stroke of half time.

The second half seemed much quieter, though a few good chances still arose. Then, on the 81st minute, Rob Lehane popped up to give the Rebel Army a late winner. Dundalk pressed and nearly equalised in stoppage time, but their header went over by inches. City held on to claim the Cup.

Some achievement by the lads. They were far and a away the best team in the League and this trophy just puts the icing on the cake. We have some very promising prospects on our hands.

Between the Seniors and the U19s/Youths, this is our 6th trophy in 12 months!

Another good win for city. 3-2 despite the rain, a good match with alot of chances!

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,527 ✭✭✭Paz-CCFC

A bit disappointing that it only finished 3-2, seeing as it was 2-2 after 15 minutes!

Shocking conditions. Led to a lot of mistakes. It was definitely the main cause in the first goal - Nults couldn't get a proper hand to it and he couldn't regain his balance quick enough to get to the ball. Slips by both sides nearly led to another goal or two, as well. Second goal was just ****e defending and a total mix up between McNulty and the defence.

Dav was unlucky not to get another hattrick. Had some really good chances. Unlucky that Purcell didn't get on the scoresheet. Vinny the goal machine chips in with another, as well!

Three more points on the board, anyway, and we move up mid-table.

Lost in the Munster Senior Cup Final against Limerick in Jackman Park. 92nd minute winner. The team was made up of fringe seniors and U19s. Apparently, they put in a very good performance and were unlucky to lose. Limerick played Gamble, Behan and the likes.
