Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Ta bogtreader, got a lot more of the same, they were in play mode, there was four of them playing around the house here, I could not keep track of them all with camera.
The other two did not look the same , more red-brown underneath.

    Peregrine or Sparrowhawk,???
They are two female sparrowhawk (birds are of equal size). Male sparrowhawk are alot smaller and barring on chest is more rufous. The barring on tail is too wide to be a peregrine (more narrow barring on tail on peregrine). The wings are too short for peregrine. Peregrines wings are more tapered. The iris colour is yellow in these birds, it is black in peregrine

Feargal, I always tought the Sparrowhawk was a smaller bird, at a quick glance you would think it's a Goshawk. I will just have to keep looking ,there around here some where (Peregrine).

looked like there was a bit of "courtin" going on between these two. totally oblivious to me, though that didnt make it easy to get the shots with them flitting around so fast.
i saw blue tits at something similar yesterday. is it not a bit early?

Thanks very much, I spend so much time watching the birds, I love it, trying to get some flying shots but very difficult to get them, my feeders are in a bit of a confined space so I just dont have time to focus on them, but it is very enjoyable all the same.

    anyone elses up yet?
anyone know if they are early or late?

  • Registered Users Posts: 938 ✭✭✭Rainbowsend

Mine are just about up but I think they are late this year, I can usually see them appearing just after Christmas and usually flowing by the end of Jan. Though saying that my Daffys are well up this year, I think they are early!

I was just wondering if there was a glass roof over your part of the country, to be able to take a shot like that in the wind rain, nice one.
