This pheasant was my 7am alarm call this morning.

Not a good photo but he took me by surprise. Stoat I presume.

    Stonechat?

    Rock pipit?
Last bird is meadow pipit. Rock pipit lacks the yellowish tinge to breast side and flanks. Also rock pipit has darker legs. It is the correct habitat for Rock Pipit. You will often see both species together on the beach with sea weed. It is easier to notice colour/size difference when they are standing side by side.

Thanks F. I was in two minds but the location had me guessing rock rather than meadow.

This weekend was full of little surprises. We found this lizard curled up asleep under the mop! It took him a while to get moving and a bit of steering was required to persuade him to go into the bushes and not under the car but he eventually got there.

I haven't seen a lizard in Ireland for years. Nice find. Cool weather clearly made it sluggish.

ok i didnt take these pics but found them on the internet on a dutch page. dont ask.
for anyone that has never seen what a falcon does when preparing its dinner

i came across a sparrowhawk one time after it had stripped a woodpigeon.
all that was left was a skeleton, wings and legs, ligaments and tendons.
stripped everything, all the neck, eyes everything.

Guys, this might sound insane, but I am after taking a serious liking to birds recently, I cant stop checking out pictures of them, and I just bought a seed feeder and little birdhouse for the back in the hope of getting them around more often.

Is this normal,or what? I will be spoiling them rotten this winter. Cant believe everybody doesn't want to look after these little guys.

Nothing insane about it, one of my most favourite pastimes. Good for you to feed them throughout the coming winter months. These creatures suffer badly during the cold winter months and sometimes don't survive at all.

Not sure about the names of these birds, open to correction from the experts. I only had a 90mm on the camera, so sorry about the distance and lack of sharpness.

Is it chasing a wagtail in the last picture or is that something else?
