It's a Canon 450D and that was taken with a sigma 70-300mm lens. A half decent camera and lens occasionally makes up for my lack of talent!

Looks like a snipe or a woodcock to me

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,143 ✭✭✭Tzetze

I'm fairly sure it's a rabbit. In the first pic, it looks like a pair of long ears hanging down on the extreme right.

edit: Was kicking myself I didn't have the camera with me when walking the dog in the same spot yesterday. Observed a badger foraging in an open field in broad daylight. Must have been pretty hungry to be forced into the open like that. At least I had my bins on me and was able to enjoy the sight. First time I ever saw one that wasn't lying dead on the side of the road. Fine beast, the badger!

is that not a wing tzetze?

and in the same photo is that not a birds foot hanging down?

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,143 ✭✭✭Tzetze

It's hard to tell, isn't it? I think what looks like a bird's foot is part of the background greenery. I'm still leaning towards rabbit, but I guess the jury's still out.

This morning. Saw him from the kitchen and went out armed with camera. Had to hide behind a bush hence blur (branch). Looks healthy enough but appeared to be limping. May just have been the cold.

As you can see, he/she heard the camera shutter.

edit: beautiful facial markings in the last pic. I'm going to leave some food out this evening at the front of thouse. I've noticed a fox triggering the camera and floods of an evening. Probably this beauty. I'll be able to check what took the food if anything.

3 bird shots from my back garden. The first seven shots were from inside the garden, on two separate feeders, with the last on some bush to the side of the garden.

Probably nothing extraordinary, but I was amazed this little fella didn't seem to care about me at all.

I was about six foot away while taking the shots, and about 2 foot away just watching it at the feeder (too close for the camera!).
