Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Could hear rumbling from around 2.30 Was checking NW storm radar for the lightning strikes. Showed 3 in a line from Clon north through Coppeen. One wicked flash at 3.00 with thunder right down on top of it.

Yeah, thats the one, knocked out the power for us for a while...

Some flash and some bang :)

There's a breeze blowing that would cut the undercarriage off a 6 tonne track machine

Tis zero grazers we have in fields down here. That said ground is still wet. Bit of ripping being done. Field cleared last week greening up again.

Will be fencing from the roadways, at least with one slap of the sledge the post will go down seeing as ground is so soft

    Sun's out.
    Cows out.

According to Met Eireann I should be washed out of it by now.

For anyone depending on the weather and working outdoors and that's probably everyone here.
This is the most dependable forecast for precipitation.
    I think anyway.

1st time looking at this thread in about 2wks. Similar time since I've read any sort of weather forecast. I've had an earful from my dad about it apparently pissing down over the next week, so when I saw that you had posted here I thought I might take a mosey and see what you had said about it all, and as I half expected it was to say you didn't really have a clue hahaha. That all sums up how much I care about the weather forecast 2bh, I take it hour by hour, if the cows have their heads down and are grazing without ploughing up the place they are out, if they are standing at the gap or arses to tje the wind they come back in.

Still no rain here and I hope it stays away till September.:D
    It's nearly like a summer's day here.
Spreading dairy washings atm here and ground conditions are good.

Talking to a fella in the local ag store yesterday and he was saying it's shocking bad weather as oul fellas do.
I said there was great drying out yesterday and no rain and I had the cows out yesterday.
"Oh it's going to be flooded out tomorrow.
    Shocking weather."

Still a lot of people around me have cows in fulltime. I'm in the minority.
I think some people love misery.

I got one or two idiot heifers ploughing through any fence around them, milkers all took a 10min spin around a paddock that is never fit for grazing early, and Phuck me they ploughed it up in the 10mins it took me to get them outa it. If my whole farm was like that field I'd prb plant the place!

Just starting here now, miserable git of a day:(

I was fencing this morning and stuck down a few lightish corner stakes with just the tractor loader. it surprised me as I didn't think land was as wet as that.

And all the brambles and alder trees are starting to bud as well. Spring can't be long more.

Lovely day here today, a real spring day. Yesterday was a total wash out, cows still in. Land still too wet for umbilical lad to spread

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,141 ✭✭✭RightTurnClyde

Smashing day up until 10 mins ago. Spent all day up until now spreading slurry on grazed paddocks. No marking or damage. Could see rain coming in the distance, opened wire to let cows in. They legged it home, they must have seen it coming too.
There's hail and rain falling sideways now. Milling.

Cows stated in after milking, but going out now, not really fair to leave 60 on 30 cubicles for the night ha. Can move 30 drys off the other leanto of cubicles over the next day or so if sh1te hits the fan.

We got everything that passed. Mad the way it works. I was much closer to you for a couple of hours at rugby training and every sign it was raining heavily there a lot of the day also.

Started horsing rain at 5pm yesterday. First night I had to lock them in.
Heavy rain all night, looks like they're going to be in today aswell.

Is this bad weather forcing many of ye to rethink your turn out dates? I hand around paddys day in my head at the start of the year but judging by the state if the place and the forecast I can't see anything going out before the start of April.

Left a few springing cows out in my driest paddock last night, one of them calved . It's fairly wet this morning. Calf up and sucking-angus are hardy feckers. Still raining

    Fairly wet alright.:(

You left the frying pan out on the grass there.
That must have been a tasty dinner, to do that.:D

No rain here. Wet after last night but cows back out today.

I was feeling smug that I'd missed the worst of it up until last night. But it utterly bucketed down most the night, cows waiting at the gap for afew hrs. In now on the last bit of maize, about 2 or 3 more buffer feeds of that, and 12 leafy bales, then it's grass grass grass all the way hmmm. There is a full pit of 69dmd silage which my dad would happily feed the milkers, but not on my watch. But soya hulls, rolled barley, and a neighbour who is selling maize will get me nicely outa trouble if needs be.

With the amount that's falling here it would be gone over scale long ago this morning. Not designed for Irish conditions I reckon.:)

Some rain falling today folks, ground is like jelly.
I saw the us storms online and reports they headed off east, we can look forward to more wet windy weather so.

Serious water falling non stop since yday evening. Spring is ending up being as late as if we had a wet dec/ Jan in terms of stock out here.will have to use heifers to dry and graze ground but they won't get thru much. Hopefully in like a lion and out like a lamb for March
