100% agree with this.
Travelled from Galway, only got home at 1:30am and that was motorway all the way. Some of our party had to then jump in a car and travel back to Mayo, home around ~2am or a bit after.

Utter madness to be making anyone do that unnecessarily.

They said it was to facilitate Down people who wanted to attend the hurling, yet there was no such consideration given to Leitrim who also played a footbal and hurling game on the same day.

2 years ago, Higgins was having a bit of a stinker in the league and early championship. But when it came to squeaky bum time in the championship, he was able to produce the goods, and ended up with an All-Star in his pocket. If Mayo progress on and hopefully don't get caught on the hop in the next 2 games, I wouldn't worry about him.

Hope that optimism doesn't come back to bite me in the a$$.

Mistakes has a big habit of repeating themselves with Mayo teams down the years though, for example how many AI finals have Mayo lost now due mainly to errors on or off the field? For now its probably for the best to say "if" Mayo get to CP.

Finals have been lost on mistakes but outside of that we have been on the ball the last few years with the exception of last year.
So on most day we are better than any team in the qualifiers and defeated provisional losers so I think we should progress all things been equal.

Agreed Zippy oft times has indifferent performances in the league and early championship but has rarely been found wanting at the business end of the championship.

I thought Diarmuid seemed quite tired and leggy on Saturday night.TBF to all and sundry it was quite a warm evening.

Cian Hanley has been struggling with injury for quite a while.

Horan said Cillian was returning to the squad a month ago and it didn't happen. There's been a general lack of transparency around what's been going on. That's his prerogative btw, he's the manager and he can manage the media and such like however he sees fit, but I wouldn't be taking anything he says at face value.

He did return to the squad and training afaik, didnt he play n a challenge game a few weeks ago.

He did not sound that convincing in ruling out any rumors.

I think so. Ruane was a big loss but still felt we could manage without him. We're plugging holes in midfield now though. Losing the captain can't be good for morale either. Hope Paddy can take the role by the scruff of the neck.

Kind of feel Saturday is becoming a taller order. Even if we get over that game, our days are numbered, I feel.

No COC, DOC and Ruane certainly levels the playing field somewhat

I've seen feck all of Armagh but over the years they certainly seem hard beat in the back door

I think for midfield he needs to put someone in that is match fit. I can only think of Keegan and bring back in Michael Plunkett. Its too risky with guys just back.

This has really made a balls of the season.

Any of ye ever used GAA GO? Uncle cant go Saturday, i thought i'd get this for him but wondering do they show all the pre match and post coverage from RTE/Sky or just the game itself? And yes i know its not supposed to be available in Ireland but that wont be an issue

You should check out now tv sports pass might be cheaper and easier.

Its probably sliverlight which only works with internet explorer. Chrome dropped support for it.

I think a fully fit DOC is one of the top players in the country, he has been labored with injury now for the last 2 years and just doesn't seem to be able to get a consistent run to maintain that.

Our whole midfield has been shredded now in the last 2 years.

Its a downer for the squad, but need to step up now once more and cover it.

The extra games in the qualifiers and super 8s though will take its toll on this squad.

That’s why I said as was his prerogative

However I do not believe him
It is one of 2 scenarios
1. His injury is worse than we know
2. There was a falling out (most likely because he Came back and played for his club too early and aggravated injury )

I’d be inclined to go with 1

Either way it’s more bad news . He obviously didn’t train . And therefore won’t make Saturday
Which could be our last game of the season
