Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Doesn't look like Cork is going to see a shred today, unless what's happening in Newbridge at the moment makes its way slip sliding down our way.

    Boo hoo hoo!!!! :(

It just keeps coming here in D14. 4-5 inches in my back garden now.

Saturday's snow never got to thaw so 8 inches now in the garden.
    Best/worst snow since 82, surpassed 87 now.

So...I do realise the answer to this but my heart is saying "Just ask! What's the worst they'll tell you?!" ;)

Am supposed to be meeting friends in Galway today. This was all arranged weeks ago for mutual days off, haven't seen each other in months. Would be driving down from Sligo. What's the roads like?

Came down on the bus yday. Roads aren't that bad. Bit of snow around Tuam but all in all they're ok I'd say.

I can see that cloud over the trees. If it hits Kilkenny i's some job.

I understand what that means, but if it were cloud before passing OVER the isle of man, why isn't is cloud after the isle of man?

surely the isle of man hasn't got a massive volcano to catch the cloud..

    :p

I think, and excuse the use of technical terms, that the Isle of Man is just a stupid snow spoiling island. they must have massive hairdryers turned on or something, probably powered by those tail-less cats.

I think dublin is going to miss a lot a lot of this snow again today, the wind direction is pretty similar to yesterday, although it is a lot colder.
Citywest seems to be getting a few showers but nothing too heavy. plus it looks like the major snowfalls have passed, The radar doesnt seems to show much more

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,761 ✭✭✭Birdnuts

Steady snow here again with an impressive 20cm on the ground:D

their developing again on either side of the isle of man but like a divide in the road, their running parallel to each other and D15 is caught in the middle of that divide :(

lots of snowing falling in Newbridge - adding to last night's accumulation. Looks like it's going to be snowing for a while - the sky looks full!

Looks like showers will begin to push further inland in the east and southeast from this afternoon onwards late into tonight.

Think we are right in the line of fire again here in Waterford city after last nights dumping. Could be another big fall today. Temp -1.4c DP -2.9. Went out earlier and shot this video. Somebody had a bit of fun and put a huge snowball in the middle of the road

would i be right in saying the shadow effect only happens when streaming from a NE direction, but if it turns east it will some in under the IOM?

There is plenty of snow coming but hopefully comes from east directly after leaving britan.

Why is there a near constant radar shadow (the raintoday radar) in Dublin bay, around the Rush/Skerries/Howth area? Is it just the web feed that is a bit 'stuck'? It was there most of yesterday as well I remember.

I have 6 inches in the Driveway , on top of the wall in the backyard there is 8

Herself had to go to work this morning , they told her the weather would be fine and to come in ! Any way just under an inch from where her car pulled out .

We even have tiny little drifts going on here :D,

So the BBC has the forecast up to Sunday looking like this:

    http://news.bbc.co.uk/weather/forecast/10209

Looks like Friday is the only day we're likely to see snow on this side of our lovely little island :( Up to then it's just stoopid freezing temps re-freezing that little bit of snow we got over the weekend.

I saw that too. It looks like it might be related to the ILS at dublin airport interfering with the weather radar. It looks like cones lining up with the direction of the runways.

Heavy snowfall around Kilcock area. I got home 10pm last night & it was just starting. When other half got home near to midnight there was probably a foot of snow. We had to go for a snow walk to collect a piece of car after he'd slid off the road into a ditch!

I don't remember ever seeing snow this thick in Ireland, when we were out snow walking at 12.30 last night there were a few other couples out doing the same thing & also a couple people milling around in cars just for the crack of the skidding
