Good day today - I'm back to where I started a week ago. Only bet in the All Blacks game was for Ben Smith to score a try and that after looking at the try machine that is Kieran Read. :(

Stan James seem to be the "Wrong" (imo) side of the market for a lot of games this weekend.

    Could be some value available...

    Italy + 12
    Argentina + 15
    Samoa + 10
    France + 12

    ha

    rubbish day

SA -3.5, Ireland -9.5, NZ -10.5 all backed.

Also had Aus at -10 as mentioned earlier on. Placed double the usual on SA, fecking delighted when FDuP went under the posts. A bit annoyed NZ dropped the ball towards the end, I wasn't too impressed by them today.

I've gone for McGrath and Best for first try scorer in the Irish game, both at 25/1

I've also had an optimistic punt on Ireland -24 at 7/2

And I've done a big accum of:

    NZ -10
    Ireland -9
    Boks -4
    Australia -10

    Feck NZ anyway :(

    least Ireland -24 came up

Gentlemen, JD is contemplating backing Samoa, lump lump and lump again on Ireland to win in that case :P

I didn't bet on this game at all in the end but I certainly scuppered poor Samoa by evening considering the option. :D

No, they were 6/5. I just prefer using decimals.

    6/5 does not equal 1.05

    6/5 = 2.20

Have backed Argentina +9 and to win after reading that Adam Jones is out. Jonathan Davies out as well.

The handicaps were in the range of Japan + 18/ + 21 pre kick off.

Definitely closer to 1/20 than 6/5...

Huh, where does he say anything about handicaps?

    It just says Scotland 1.05?

yup, but I'm saying that he's probably correct with 1.05 being the price at kick off given that the Handicaps were that wide.

Certainly not 6/5 to beat Japan anyway.

That's the only reason i'm getting 6/5, cos he said it.

    I know.

You asked if Scotland were really 1/20 to beat Japan.

They were 18-21 points favourites, and therefore probably very close to 1/20.

The conversion from 1.05 to 6/5 makes zero sense, but the 1.05 decimal price is probably correct.

    Right

1.05 is incredibly short for Scotland, who lets not forget lost to Tonga last year. I dunno Japan might have had a development squad or something

That's what the price was though?

Comparison - Scotland are 13 point underdogs to South Africa and South Africa are 1/10 for the win (BoyleSports)

Japan were 18-21 point underdogs and thus Scotland being shorter (1/20) makes sense. (I personally thought that the HC was too generous and had Japan at +18 - which would have been okay if not for Japan's two yellows and 3 try concession in the final 10)

I'm not disputing it was the price, I just think its an incredibly short price.

To be honest I was surprised it wasn't shorter or even not available as an option to back

We are talking about Scotland here right?

You would want to be on cloud cuckoo land to take Scotland at 1.05

I'm talking about Scotland playing at home to Japan mind, they are a bit poor internationally but they haven't sunk so low as to possibly lose at home to Japan yet
