Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

in you're pictures, it says electricity consumption 20mw
    production is 15mw

you need to build more wind turbines/ or what ever other means you're using to get electricity :) try build as many as you can, keep it in the green area
cause when you start expanding, you're consumption will go through the roof :P also put the wind turbines in an area were their is most wind ( indicated by a dark blue I think )

Thanks for that :o I havent a clue what I'm doing LOL :o

I am finding money management really quite easy, always been profitable. Traffic management is a little bit awkward though, I end up building my own pretty awful looking clover leaf junctions everywhere, thank god for limitless space.

So everyone's impressions of the game is very positive? :D

Was going to preorder this myself but a shambles that was Resident Evil Revelations 2 fiasco I decided to wait and see what people thought.

Does building a one-way system alleviate traffic much? Haven't had a chance to test it, but I'm just wondering if dividing everything into small zones that have a one way system in them would make everyone a little happier when commuting (until I put in proper public transport).

I'm finding the tough if I'm honest, can someone look at the below pictures and tell me why I'm not receiving power to some of the buildings?

<snip pictures with a billion miles of powerlines in them>

Zone areas out slower, so houses are build up and power flows along. This will allow you to avoid a few of those powerlines. ;)

Tried to do a bit of modding for this but the API is... minimal at the moment. You can only do boring stuff. :pac:

Same here, few mod ideas I want to implement that just don't seem possible at the moment. If you're ever up for working together on mods gimme a shout :)

My first city is a goddam joke. Traffic is a nightmare. Oneway system is way too big. Takes forever to get around :D

    But i'm lernding.

I plan on making a city using only dirt tracks too, see what happens.

I'm going to have another fiddle tonight, time permitting. The UnityEngine libraries are available, so theoretically you should be able to do almost anything, but it'll be much tougher going outside their API. If I can get control of the camera I'll be laughing - I'll let you know how it goes!

    Yeah, I'm making Dublin too.

Keep forgetting I'm not playing SimCity and I keep trying to squeeze things into every available tile. Must spread things out a bit and hopefully it'll help with traffic and make things look a bit prettier.
    Great game so far though.

At work at the moment so i can't check. You can probably get control of the camera using:

    var camera = UnityEngine.Camera.main;

Anyone able to get a decent dublin heightmap from terrain.party yet ? Keeps crashing on me.

Tried that, but I have a feeling the view camera is not the main camera. I have other ideas though. ;)

    Camera.current then maybe ?

If there isn't a 1st person mod on the workshop by the time we're home from work, I would hazard a guess that its not possible yet. ;)

That's because whoever is first will get all the power, money and womens.

    (or maybe just downloads)

I actually find it makes it worse, you just end up with everyone waiting at the junctions to do a u-turn as well as all the ones that would only be there for turning otherwise.

In residential and commercial zones, even on very high density I haven't been getting awful traffic with standard two way two lane streets. I use blocks that are three times as long as they are wide.

It's industrial zones that need well made one way systems. The advantage is I think you can get like 4 lane one way roads to go into intersections without generation traffic lights.

What intersections are people using off motorways, i am using m50 style flying roundabouts, but they're not that efficent. If one of you mod types wants to make a roundabout where cars on the roundabout get right of way, that'd be swell.

    There ya go

    GameObject gameObject = GameObject.FindGameObjectWithTag("MainCamera");

    :)

Thanks, but I know how to do that. :P That just returns the same camera as Camera.main. FYI, there are six cameras in the scene (listed below), but moving them about doesn't change the view. I wonder what they're up to.
Found camera TreeManager (UnityEngine.Camera) attached to TreeManager
Found camera TerrainManager (UnityEngine.Camera) attached to TerrainManager
Found camera LoadingManager (UnityEngine.Camera) attached to LoadingManager
Found camera Main Camera (UnityEngine.Camera) attached to Main Camera
Found camera Underground View (UnityEngine.Camera) attached to Underground View
Found camera UIView (UnityEngine.Camera) attached to UIView

only had 30 minutes or so to give this a shot there.

So far I'm liking what I see. Managed to build an extremely ugly starter town just to get a feel for it and got myself into profit.

Think I'll very much enjoy messing about with this.

I spent 15 hours on one city today. After so much time devoted to it, I had it thriving in skyscrapers, 50,000 people strong and everything. It looked like I just completed a work of art. Everything was maintained, despite the traffic problem. No major problems aside from the odd building going up in flames. I had over 1 million in my treasury and was making 14k per in-game week. Oh it was a joy to behold. I thought "right, that's me for the day".

I forgot to save the fúcking game

Remember that only will be build able for the middle 5x5 blocks even with mods, also thats off scale from the height maps ive been checking out when you load in to the site it sets the 1:1 scale from what ive seen so making the box bigger or smaller like you have here will mess with your scale

If you set your objective to be "build the largest possible city" then you base that on the limit of 1,000,000 citizens. Losing is building a city that becomes entrenched in Gridlock and social failures before making the million.

Its not about winning and losing. Its about building a city, then watching it fall apart in front of you.

Wait till your services come crashing down due to gridlock with your buildings full of trash and dead bodies, that's how you lose

I was expecting some kind of decline since it was my first attempt. Any time I need money, I just fast forwarded while doing nothing. I recall Sim City 2000 being a constant battle with income/expenses to keep afloat. I have only been playing 2 hours though.

Just to illustrate how much better the citizen management is in this compared to Sim****ty:

    http://www.pcgamer.com/the-strange-tale-of-a-cities-skylines-town-with-only-one-house/

Sim City promised something similar but never really pulled it off. Sims would just go to any old job and any old house

This game is much slower than sim city. After 3/4 hours I only have about 3k people. Enjoying it so far though.
