Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Clear sunny and windy 16.6C - hard to imagine there could be "wintry showers" tonight. I do not believe it

there is a large drift of snow on the eastern face of galtyymore,
it's the usual spot that's sheltered from the sun.
will get a photo if it's clear tomorrow

I think I'll hang around for a bit longer, I'll turn off the lights and lock up as I'll probably be the last one to leave.

Here in Southern Poland.....After nearly 3 months of lying snow, Spring broke out last week and we had a massive thaw with temps up to 18c. Yesterday the Easterly arrived and now we are back to snow. About 10 cm overnight and still snowing hard. Not over cold though, currently -1. I wouldn't be surprised to see the south east UK get some snow out of this by Saturday. 850 temps are quite cold, -8 so lots of potential.

Looks like ill get another few weeks of skiing in yet! The young lad is well chuffed!

Be sure to double check the door and the upstairs window.

I think it's time to bow out myself, I say there'll be sNOw more snow to hit Ireland until possibly towards the end of 2015. I'm not overly concerned about snow across Europe, just makes me jealous! :D This thread has had a good run this time around.

I look forward to seeing this thread getting created again in August and watching people complain about it's too early to tell if we get snow and watching people ask what are the chances of snow this winter, over and over and over :D

The snow on Galtymore provided lots of entertainment for me this year. Nothing like frolicking around in 3 foot drifts!
    Thanks for the updates blackbird!

I'd say the non-northern facing slopes will have some major thawing going on today with that fairly strong sun now present. With the amount of rain that fell, there must be a LOT of snow up there

What a beautiful frosty morning today. I love days like this.

From looking at casements and oak parks reports yesterday, they had about 10mm of rain. So thats about 15cm of powder snow. But mountains relief effect would probably double that.
So there could be about a foot of fresh snow up high on Lug!

  • Banned (with Prison Access) Posts: 6,995 ✭✭✭Schadenfreudia

Was out and about in Dundrum (Tipp) today in glorious sunshine - Galtymore had snow on top, just around the peak.

from the Ball at Naas on the way back I could see Lug was completely covered as were the surrounding high areas.

10.8mm rain here yesterday, so that all must have fallen as snow above about 1800 feet (guess).

A potent Arctic blast can still deliver in April :)
Aren't white Easters more common than white Christmases?

    ECM1-240.GIF?23-12

This gave a fairly decent fall that lasted well into the morning.

I remember that, delivered about 3 inchs of lying snow which stopped by about 1pm, by 2pm it was just about all melted! One of the quickest snow melts ever.

I'd say the higher parts of the Wicklow Mountains should get at least a temporary pasting tonight.

3.2c here with icy/sleety rain falling.

There was still old snow on lugnaquilla this morning, I'd be very confident it will be plastered tomorrow morning
    What a climate up there

    I can't work out . . .

Is the above post the last one for last winter's snow events.

Or the first one for this year's?

    (Hope it's the latter :P )
