Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Not surprised really. None of the young fellas in Cork seem to have any commitment or motivation with it like Mayo and the others.

But we'll be the best at what matters, crawling around the fecking beach in Youghal.

    Some good news,

In the Camogie, Cork beat Tipperary today in their opening Division 1 Group 2 tie at Páirc Uí Chaoimh.

    Cork 3-14 Tipperary 0-16

Captain Amy O’Connor got 2 goals.

Aisling Thompson played very well, a few fine points from play.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,023 ✭✭✭Speakerboxx

Cork are terrible and no wonder they have only won 7 All Irelands in senior football. They are always frustrating to watch. They are going to get some hammering by Kerry this year if they do meet them in Munster.

I have just seen that Cork ladies footballers playing Tipperary in the league Round 1 will be live on TG4 next Friday night from 7.20 pm

Late changes for Cork. Shane Kingston and Seamus Harnedy are out.

Jack O'Connor comes in. Kenefick and Turnbull on panel

Looking foward to this. Very good conditions.

He should gave buried that! Great ball by Cadogan, easy point for the taking but passed looking for the goal, I like that mentality.

goal but 5 wides clocked up already. Game is very open

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,563 ✭✭✭The White Feather

Lot of awful wides from Cork so far.

Again some amount of awful wides so far from Cork

Cashman and Downey very indisciplined in the tackle.

    Point in it at ht.

Good enough game, conditions worsened throughout the half.
Defence playing well enough, too many wides.

Would disagree. Poor mistakes on both sides granted it's only the 2nd game for months. Defence giving away alot of needless frees

Are Cork jerseys darker than previous or is it the rain making them appear darker?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,563 ✭✭✭The White Feather

What is the ref at there with the frees for Tiop? Giving them loads

  • Moderators, Category Moderators, Recreation & Hobbies Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 33,244 CMod ✭✭✭✭ShamoBuc

Ref does seem a little too eager to give a free against Cork.

Jerseys are a deeper red this year I'd say.

    Fine goal by Cork.

    Running straight at that defence.

Fitzgibbon could have taken the point but instead went goalwards.

A few stats for wides by RTE would be nice

    Awesome point by Connery!

Corks defence really on top. Tips forwards cant seem to beat their men.

Great to see Cadogan back in.

Ref is not endearing himself at all.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,563 ✭✭✭The White Feather

The amount of frees Tipp are getting is ridiculous

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,023 ✭✭✭Speakerboxx

Is the ref wearing a Tipp Jersey?

  • Moderators, Category Moderators, Recreation & Hobbies Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 33,244 CMod ✭✭✭✭ShamoBuc

A very enjoyable game, draw a fair result.

I'm impressed with our defence. I don't think they allowed a single shot at Corks goal or were beaten by their man. They defended very well. A few too many frees but only Cork seemed to travel or hand pass incorrectly.

Fun game. Would have liked to have won it with that Horgan shot that hit the post.

Ref gave them a load of frees so its hard to win games against that. The main thing is that it was another good performance.

A few things to work on still but things progressing nicely I think!

Yes, that ref could only see one team.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,298 ✭✭✭RedRochey

Tipp could've easily won it with the amount of wides they had but then they got a lot of harsh frees, like I know refs should be blowing up for steps more often but Jesus some of those were very harsh

Puck outs still need a lot of working on, a lot of time it was just a case of short pass to corner back and then run straight into trouble, need to work on creating space and not giving a pass for the sake of it

Cork worked some lovely scores though with some running and hand passes, still worry that a lot of our forwards aren't able to win their own ball, look a bit light

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 34,424 ✭✭✭✭The_Kew_Tour

That was much better from cork.

  • Registered Users Posts: 5,611 ✭✭✭The Golden Miller

If Cork weren't before, they should be definitely be aiming for the All-Ireland now. No reason they shouldn't win it, as talented as any team, if not more so

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,318 ✭✭✭Horse84

Any sign of colm Spillane in the panel? Declan Dalton also?

  • Registered Users Posts: 480 ✭✭costacorta

Can O Mahony kick a ball over the bar at all? Dreadful for inter county.

The difference in shooting ability is something else. Our basic skills are beyond useless.

Maybe they needed another few sessions on youghal beach to help them with their football skills.

Echo says those two and Bill Cooper are injured, didn't say any return date

Come championship, if we are to have a chance we need a fully fit Cooper and Spillane. Short passing is nice and all but physicality is needed.

Not sure about All Ireland but if they can be competitive against the big teams, they might have some chance.

If the Male counterparts competition is being run then in reality shouldn't the girls be allowed to play also?

  • Registered Users Posts: 5,611 ✭✭✭The Golden Miller

Not sure about All Ireland but if they can be competitive against the big teams, they might have some chance.

Surely they are just as good as any team? When they won two Munster's recently, hurled everyone off the park. Until they collapsed against Limerick in the semi, were outplaying them too. With every year that passes and no All-Ireland, has it become psychological?

Has the mindset and expectation changed in the county too with limited success? Wording like "big teams" for example. Surely Cork are one of the biggest teams, the most successful traditionally

yeah, as they say the biggest problems seem to come from within the association

The biggest detriment to the ladies/girls game is the LGFA. The GPA merger was a step in the right direction and the sooner the LGFA merge with the GAA the better. But there are too many people with cushy numbers and a hint of power that they don't want to give up. They cry about equality and men getting preferential treatment and then go and treat their own members with utter contempt.

Absolutely the girls games should go ahead like the boys are but that's what happens when you have morons running a shambles of an organisation.

Ladies football League begins tonight on TG4 at 7:20 v Tipp

  • Moderators, Category Moderators, Recreation & Hobbies Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 33,244 CMod ✭✭✭✭ShamoBuc

Enjoyable first half. It took a Tip goal to wake Cork up a little.
Cork scores are coming a bit easier than the Tip scores, but we had a few bad wides early on, slight wind was with Cork.
Some of the new girls are certainly not looking out of place.

    Cork 1-09 v 2-04 Tip at ht
