The postage from the UK kills the price. I am tempted to pick one up to see if it still holds up.

You should see the amount of stuff my brother has.
    1000s and 1000s of Lp's, books,cd's,tapes.
Even 100s of concert programs that he attended.
From early 70's like Rory Gallagher to the present.
These history of rock magazines that came with several folders
    IMG-20210422-134210-Bokeh.jpg

He also collected a lot of shîte.
He doesn't care, he'll buy everything and anything.

I wonder besides him and Sabrina, does anyone else in the world have her album :pac:

Went for a late evening walk with my sons and forgot about school bedtimes etc and embraced birdsong and bird spotting. Such a fab few hours instead of watching tv!

I'm the same - buying records and CDs since 1981 & 1986 respectively.

I don't have the Sabrina album but do own the Boys (Summertime Love) 7".

My fiancée's King Charles Spaniel, who is basically both our dog now (she's had him since 2007, I've known him since 2012) used to despise me for years. But he's gotten more fond of me the past 2 years.

It became official this week that he definitely likes me now because lately while I've been getting ready to leave for work he's been staring at me wide-eared as I've went towards the front door, and now when I get home he wags his tail like mad. When I sit down he comes over to me and nudges into my arm. I picked him up and laid him on my chest and he pushed his head into my shoulder to get comfortable. He never did this before.

When he wants his dinner in the evening he looks to me to give it to him, not his original owner. When he comes inside from doing his business he follows me around the kitchen until I give him a biscuit (when he was a puppy, he got a treat for going toilet outside and it just kind of stuck. He expects it now). When I get a takeaway (specifically a takeaway for some reason) he sits and paws at MY leg for any uneaten food.

He used to growl at me a lot. Even when I was so much as in eyeshot of him he'd growl. He hasn't growled at me in - I wanna say a year. He lets me pick him up to bring him downstairs for the toilet. He lets me put drops in his eyes. He lets me put food in his bowl even when he's already head deep into it.

He lets me wash him and dry him.

He's not 100% obedient with everything I ask him to do but I put that down to age. He'll always go to his mammy first, but I'm just so happy he has accepted me as well.

The smile on my face writing this post :D

If I watch YouTube on my iPad, I get ads for Mumsy things like laundry detergent or sanitary pads for mild incontinence. Since I’m a bloke who has never squeezed out an ankle-biter, not even vicariously, that tells me that Google's algorithms have totally failed to get a handle on me for ad targeting purposes. They really have no idea who I am, or what I might buy. :p

Death has this much to be said for it:
You don’t have to get out of bed for it.
    Wherever you happen to be
    They bring it to you—free.

A lady in a small car was stopped in traffic in the yellow box junction. A Jeep pulled alongside her looking to turn across but of course she is blocking it

The car in front of her drove forward a little to make some space. The car behind reversed back to make some space.

She was oblivious playing with her radio and looking all around instead of moving.

99% you get anger and horns blowing at bad driving. The Jeep driver laughed and laughed and it was contagious :D

This is a TH as everyone around was laughing and smiling. The Jeep driver and passenger, the cars around and us at the bus stop all observing the terrible driving

Eventually traffic moved on and she drove away oblivious that she did anything wrong. I like this Jeep driver, living a cool stress free life

Where did that come from exactly? I was watching a concert in Brazil and the crowd all started doing it  Thought i was just an Irish thing.

I think and I am only guessing, it was from the Mexico 86 World Cup to Europe?
And then there was the song in 1990 and Ireland latched on to it?

I was half right - I looked up Wiki

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ol%C3%A9,_Ol%C3%A9,_Ol%C3%A9#In_other_sports

It filled in a few gaps for me.

Some Belgian started it as Allez, Allez, Allez - but a Spanish version was created as 'Olé, Olé, Olé'.

"The popular version of the "Olé, Olé, Olé" chant was first used in a 1985 song written by Roland Verlooven and Grand Jojo called "Anderlecht Champion" as "Allez, Allez, Allez, Allez" in French, but became "Olé, Olé, Olé, Olé" in Spanish in a version titled "E Viva Mexico" created for the Mexico 86 World Cup. This version of the chant quickly spread around the world and chanted by football fans in tribute to a team or a player, and it is now also widely used in other sports as well as in non-sporting events"

Funny how something so simple can travel around the world and make people smile. Still after all these years.

Guff about stuff, and stuff about guff.

Good luck trying to figure me out. I haven't managed that myself yet!

Checking the company's online banking every week and seeing money actually coming IN from Revenue.
Yes I know its actually a bad thing due to covid etc but it still just feels strangely nice to see Revenue putting money into the account after the bloody fortune they've taken out of it over the years :)

I really thought it said "two curry pots". Which in fairness might not have been a bad lunch!

My TH is my neighbour and I managed to trap three feral kittens and can now get them neutered and vaccinated and (hopefully) homed so they can have a happy ending :)

    Witchcraft I say!
It simply isn't possible I always end up wanting more or having too much. TH though that pasta is quite nice cold, so you can keep it in the fridge and have it again the next day.

Really? I had no idea! Makes no difference to me out here; and that is a far from trivial happy..

Happy arrived yesterday with a wonderful box of yam oddment from Springwools in Dublin. They have been supporting our work with gifts for 16 years. Extra happy that when a knitting request came in almost immediately I could say yes!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 4,105 ✭✭✭Kivaro

The swallows have arrived. They have finally come back, as if to echo in a Spring of hope. And they certainly brought some good news with them in their tidings, with reports this morning that we are soon going to emerge from our very long dark winter.

    Every year the swallows come
And put their homestead in repair,
And raise another brood, and skim
    And boomerang through summer air.

After 11 years on boards, this last post from me about swallows is the trivial thing that makes me happy.
