Not really a box so, it’s a chrome cast dongle.

led to believe the newer ones are pretty much an android firestick + chromecast

It's the new Chromecast based on Android TV. It's the form factor of all the latest devices, fire stick, mi stick etc, they are getting much smaller, shrunk to the size of a Chromecast now. You can do a lot more with it than a Chromecast, it now has a full os and a remote. Android TV has all the Google cast and Google assistant features

Can APK's be installed on the new chromecast?

Yes, you have the Google play store and you can sideload if you enable install from unknown sources in developer options

    Going backwards :D

They all started as sticks (minus the MX).

The MK808 had it's own thread here for ages iirc :) then the B etc.

Yeah definitely backwards. I prefer something with Ethernet myself, I have a Shield, and 2x mi boxes, one with an Ethernet adapter, one in a bedroom without on 5ghz WiFi (WiFi AP outside door on ceiling). Ethernet makes a huge difference even with a very strong signal and decent connection. I also don't like having devices that don't move on my WiFi so I've cabled everywhere with Ethernet just this gets used so little I've not bothered with an adapter.

I’m looking for the family, 2 kids 1 adult,
Kids boxes will just be Netflix/Disney/YouTube
Adults the same with added tv subscription.
Anyone have link to new google tv?
The main difference is probably price. The Mi Box S can be found for roughly €40 when there is a sale on. The Google TV is $50 in US, but €70 here
It would be cheaper to order them from the US and use addresspal or another Virtual Address.

Yeah, I was thinking that, but even that is only 50c in Dealz. Or if possible use a USB port.

Many will have a USB plug lying around too, But adaptor isn't a problem.

€120 for three delivered to addresspal + €15.99 from them + VAT & handling works out at roughly €184.

Not a massive saving over buying here (global warranty) but almost €30, so a saving..

Could be that it was rejected for various reasons. They may have not believed it was the price marked. Or your address may have been illegible.
Or they may have tried to contact you and were unable.

    Have you contacted the seller?

Looks like he didnt belive my address had no house number :-V

    On its way here again.

You'll be fine. It's a Google device, only released about a week ago. This means it'll get support through software updates and enhancements for at least 3 years. There may not be every app for it right away but developers will catch up quickly

BTW, you will need it if you ever want to use a HDMI switch, the earlier versions of chromecast don't support HDMI CUC,or whatever the protocol is called.

I'm having that same problem with a VIVANCO switch, suuports freesat STB, but not MAG or Chromecast.

    Any advices PM me. Thanks

you can cast to it using the same vpn is best

its not showing on irish playstore so maybe sideload it

    https://apkpure.com/bbc-iplayer/bbc.iplayer.android

and load ur vpn and activate it from your phone/laptop

I have a VPN on the chromecast, but its obviously not working or i don't have it installed/running correctly

casting works best the app is awkward to use on it

try a different location or change the protocol

some locations dont always work with i player

I was looking last week for one, only available from Chinese warehouses from what I could find and no cheaper than usual.
I'd rather buy from EU if possible, arrives quicker and no chance of getting stung with customs .

On Banggood with China shipping at the minute, but there are shipping options.
Not sure how much these codes are for or what percentage off etc.

    KM1 4GB/32GB - BGMGKM1
    KM9 Pro 4GB/32GB - BG169811GR

    EU Shipping from Geekbuying
    KM3 4GB/128GB - 11SALE201
    KM9 Pro 4GB/32GB - 11SALE201

That code should work for any of these - https://www.geekbuying.com/search?keyword=mecool
Or if buying a few the other codes are here
