Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

You couldn't make any judgement at all based on this farce of a game - 20 overs is crazy form of cricket but reducing to 6 is just nonsense.

True but from the little we saw our fielding looks to have gone backwards big time.

I thought this myself last game, we used to be one of the best fielding sides

My thoughts exactly. Very poor. Dropping catches let things slip through, slow in the outfield . was our best part of our game know we are weaker than most teams. Don't need many overs to workout that

Lesson in batting here from Bangladesh - measured but relentless. Can't see Oman getting any further than this game.

India having a disaster 45-7 off 11 overs

Absolute genius by NZ, read the pitch, replaced their great quicks with spinners and schooled India.

Agreed great performance by the black caps

very good batting by Pakistan to bring up the 200 cant see bangladesh catching them to be honest

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 585 ✭✭✭axe2grind

For as long as Tamim stays in they'll fancy their chances, but agree that 200 is a bit much for Bang to chase.

    And they're one down...

the run rate required is in around 10 thats going to take some great batting (but not unacheivable). hopefully it goes to the wire. some of the catches in this tournament have been insane!

Fantastic catch on the boundary earlier in this game, saved a six and managed to catch it when coming back down. Unreal.

I know Ridiculous! and every game is producing this type of thing. Bangladesh were doing great there but just lost a very costly wicket

SA are smashing England around the park at the moment,

    96-0 after 7 overs.

Edit: De Kock gone for 52 off 24 balls, terrific knock.

230 to win, that's going to be a very tall order, methinks :)

Yes, spinners bringing down the run rate too

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21,444 ✭✭✭✭Skid X

Root and Morgan are getting into 'Hit or Get Out' terrritory

    Edit: Ah well.

  • Moderators, Society & Culture Moderators Posts: 12,813 Mod ✭✭✭✭riffmongous

    Now Duminy bowls Morgan too!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,917 ✭✭✭BarryD

They might get there yet? :)

Shaping up for a tight finish.

My gut says England will lose wickets at the wrong time and fall short.

  • Moderators, Society & Culture Moderators Posts: 12,813 Mod ✭✭✭✭riffmongous

    Great job by Root

  • Moderators, Society & Culture Moderators Posts: 12,813 Mod ✭✭✭✭riffmongous

It looks like we are not the only team whose fielding standards have seriously slipped

  • Moderators, Society & Culture Moderators Posts: 12,813 Mod ✭✭✭✭riffmongous

    Some nice late drama

    Breathtaking run chase

That was entertaining. Roy and Root in particular made it look easy.

The commentators made a good point about SA giving up too many gift singles.
Even when the spinners were on top England were still getting 6 or 7 an over. After Roy's great early knock it was enough to keep them in it. More dot balls would have made life difficult for England.

Joe Root seems to be mister composure. He never looked under pressure to keep hitting big sixes and was quite happy to grab singles and keep the runs ticking up.

They may not be the best in the tournament, but England will certainly be involved in some entertaining matches.

Missed this mornings match, New Zealand look impressive. England vs South Africa was excellent, so far it seems that batting second will be a big advantage. Teams could have a tendency to leave runs behind when they hitting at around 190+ and assuming it's a great score. India vs Pakistan should be a belter tomorrow!

Yep, SA were definitely guilty of this, the field was always set up to allow the singles and they bowled 20 wides on top of that, many of them bouncers that went over the wicketkeepers head, there was also an easy to stop 4 that one of the fielders missed, and in the end as it turned out a few extra runs could have made the difference

I wanna watch India vs Pakistan today - is there a FTA channel here in Ireland that will show the whole match?

No, it's only on Sky Sports.

    Starting now.

Just the 29 from that over for AB, like playing stick cricket.

Well they are certainly giving it a good shot, England being slaughtered at the moment

Woah.. they won't make a 100 if the wickets keep falling at this rate.

Yeah it was really incredible to see in a t20 game.

Nice fightback by these two though, should give them a good chance to save england's blushes

Well it looks more or less over already, 13/3 off 4 overs

Don't seem to believe in themselves at the moment - one of the lads batting there now is only 17 or 18 - very tough situation to come into at that age.

I would say the 35 runs conceded in the last 2 overs coupled with Shahzad's early dismissal has also deflated them.
