Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Jump a bump for this thread.. Kenny's bookstore located in Galway accept Laser.

But the best thing about them is unlike Hughes & Hughes and Easons (€6 for your first book, and €3 for each additional.. they're taking the piss!) - they've free delivery!

    Just ordered myself:

Darkly Dreaming Dexter - EUR 5.98
Dearly Devoted Dexter - EUR 9.03
    Total: EUR 15.01

Just over 50c more than what i would of paid for the same two books on Play.com (and they were actually out-of-stock of those two particular books earlier today).

Thanks for the Kenny's bookstore site! So much cheaper than the others!

    Don't forget WWW.PIXMANIA.COM

    This is a good idea...

Not anymore they don't!! I used my old Laser Card before Christmas (just before it expired) and bought off Pixmania.ie (.com tells you to redirect cos I have an Irish address). Then when i received my new Maestro/Laser Card (the Laser symbol is still on it), when I went to pay for some good yesterday on pixmania, it bounced me back to the card details screen stating in big black letters that the "number is invalid". Tried it unsuccessfully several times, so in the end rang Pixmania and their solution was...use another card!! Rang my bank and they said that they were aware of problems using the new format cards online (she specifically mention HMV having headaches) and took my details and if enough people complained that Card Sewrvices would look into it. I am thinking of suing my bank for not allowing me full access to my funds...anyone know a crafty solicitor?:D

Well, HMV don't accept Laser. But i assume accept Maestro (but alas, the English version of Maestro - new name for Switch IIRC).

As has been discussed a lot around here recently, these incompatibility problems between Maestro cards in different countries have been a major pain-in-the-ass with no resolution from what i've seen on the horizon.

Just a tip.. if you wanna buy stuff online, get a credit card (Visa etc) as you'll be left fuming at the lack of sites willing to take Laser and the refusion of an Irish Maestro card on UK sites (Play, SendIt etc).

I have found just one single, solitary site that will accept Irish Maestro Cards (and that is: www.naturesway.ie). Don't bother going to Play.com, SendIt.com and trying to enter Maestro details, it will not work.

Anyone know of any camera based site that accepts laser ?
Pixmania prices are a joke and the pricing on other sites listed here seem very expensive also.
I don't want to buy drugs ,i just want some goods.

Did you use .com or .ie?

    .com

    .com
Can anyone else validate Cutie18Ireland's claims? As i just tried there and it doesn't have the option for Visa on the .com domain.

But does on the .ie domain.

EDIT: Just tried there again.. and:

    untitledve1.jpg

Notice the lack of the Laser card in payment.

PS - are you sure you used the .com domain, Cutie18Ireland?

Having just got back to Scotland, after being on holiday in Ireland, I set about trying to procure an Electric Picnic ticket. The main website for the tickets is sold out. Ticketmaster is waiting for another batch, I ran into problems when I tried to buy online from Myticket.ie, for all you moaning about the Irish Maestro card, I discovered I couldn't get through the processing stage of payment with my Scottish Maestro card. A quick phone call to Mytickets helpline, informed me that they only accept Irish or European Maestro cards. So it works the other way too, just wondering, has you guys not heard of 3Vvouchers, they originated from Ireland, disposable visa card numbers with certain amounts you can get topped up at your local shop with the 3V signs. Anyone know where I can purchase an Electric Picnic ticket online with a UK Maestro card.

It seems dabs.ie do not accept "irish maestro".
Thank you for your order no xxxxxx. We have submitted for
    authorisation
the sum of xx.xx Euro from your UNKNOWN: IRELAND number
    *******************
but regrettably our merchant service bank tells us that your card
    issuer has
declined to take the transaction. We do not take this as a reflection
    on your
financial status, and can happen for a number of reasons, such as:

    - Wrong expiry date given
    - Insufficient funds or credit available
    - Card billing address you gave us doesnt match the card records
    - Transaction is above the cards limit
    - Bank computer systems not working properly
    - Foreign card requiring customer contact for mail order
    - New card not yet authorised for use
    - Incorrect CVC Digits entered
    - Other clerical error
    - American Express or Electron
The funds are there and all the info I entered was correct, so I can only assume it's because of this all-but-useless card.

    Found another couple

www.spreadshirt.net - make your own tshirts (did this last week, really quick, nice stuff, but dear though)

www.giftvouchersnow.com - online gift vouchers for irish hotels, spas etc.

    I can't find any decent UK/US clothing/shoes/stuff site dammit

    bah.

OK, I need to clear up this dabs.ie and maestro thing. I was about to order an external hd from them but decided to first check with their customer service team via the online chat.

I explained that I had an irish maestro card. When asked if it was a laser card, I said yes (as they are one in the same) and that the card had both laser and maestro logos. Was then told that these cards are not accepted. So then I asked what three digits should be entered if a card doesn't have a CVV2 (as is the case with these cards) and was told that because these cards don't have a CVV2 they are not accepted.

So, as some people here are using their maestro cards on dabs, the question is.... HOW? And what digits do you enter to fill the CVV2 field? And what bank issued your card (are AIB cards less compatible than others?)

My life would be so much easier if I could just order from dabs when I wanted with this maestro instead of having to hike out to the next town to get a 3V voucher every time...

Unfortunately we are unable to accept the type of Credit/Debit card you
    have used for payment.

We do accept Visa, Visa Electron, Delta, Maestro (excluding Laser),
    MasterCard, Switch and Solo.

    Now hold on a second...

I just ordered a external hd and gfx card using my AIB 'maestro/laser/whatever the hell it actually is card' and now I expect to have it cancelled after reading this thread...damn. it seemed to accept the long number written on the card and I used 000 as security code but I'm now pretty sure this ain't gonna work. :(
