Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I was in the point last night for the darts. Enjoyable enough night but it's just hard to be invested in a darts match when you know there's not much riding on the outcome. I tend to watch the odd Premier League night throughout the competition and I'll definitely watch the finals night but I can't wait until the proper competitions start later in the year.

I also agree that Rob Cross needs to change his walk on music. Absolutely shocking stuff!

amazing night, amazing darts, great crowd, lot of surprises.

3 x 114 checkout by MvG, Cross was battered.

Wright was bloody awful, not sure how Price allowed him to get a draw out of it, some terrible finishing and terrible averages.

We left when it was 5:2 for Snakebite, only to discover when on the Luas than match finished 6:6, shocking, cinsidering that Price was awfull on doubles, Wright missed bullseye twice, and that costed him point.

Cross will need to change more than his music! He seems very casual and maybe too casual. He got nowhere at the UK open qualifiers at the weekend
and put up very little resistence in the PL last week.
I'm sure he'll have a decent enough season once he gets going but the fairytale is over.

got to get used to being the world champ and all that comes with it . he's expected to win now . a lot for a fella who wasn't on the scene this time last year

Don't usually like the PL, but tonight's will be interesting.

    Price vs Anderson
    Smith vs Gurney
    Cross vs Whitlock
    MVG vs Wright
    Barney vs Mensur

Glad to see Smith playing well, great to watch

I had a feeling Cross might struggle tonight after the pasting by MVG last week, and so far I seem to be right although he just got a leg back there as I type this.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,880 ✭✭✭✭klose

Cant believe what I'm watching from cross here, whitlock playing poor enough and he will stroll to a win here.

Didn't the same kinda thing happen Gary Anderson after his 1st world title...he said it was tiredness from all the media sh1te that comes from being world champion.
Life changing stuff for Cross, give him 6 months imo and he be back on form.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 28,944 ✭✭✭✭_Kaiser_

Not a MVG fan myself but credit where its due, that was a fantastic checkout a minute ago.

Great match this between him and Snakebite

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 28,944 ✭✭✭✭_Kaiser_

Great win by Wright there, especially as he was very unlucky not to finish it minutes later.

    Really enjoyed that match

I can't express fully just how much I hate Gerwyn Price.

He embodies everything you despised in the class bully at school.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,299 ✭✭✭JenovaProject

Gary Anderson hopefully beats Price...he looks to be over his back problems and is on fire tonight.

Yea Gary had a good game tonight. Great to see him back on form

Barney pulling away here now too.

He's a complete tool, he throws 180 and you'd swear he's won the world championships, Anderson throws one immediately afterwards and strolls nonchalantly to collect his darts!!!

    TbL

He hit T16 D10 to finish the first leg and let a roar that would make Tarzan sound aphonic. Better players like Anderson know to just give it time and get into the game and more often than not their class and ability will come through. The 7-3 last night was typical of that.

    Cardiff looks empty.

I do wonder if the opening shots are live.

It was the same in Dublin last week.

There was very little support or at least it seemed that way for Price. I thought as the home player he'd get them going a bit more. The crowd didn't seem to make much noise and even when the camera showed the arena there didn't seem to be the usual pandemonium.

i always think they should do the opening bit from the bar where it is packed

They are live. There was huge queues outside to get into the point last week and then once you're in you have to que at the bar to get a drink! Most people don't get to their seat until the first game has started.

7.10pm start is difficult - theres a good reason why soccer, rugby league etc use 7.45 or 8pm as their standard evening kick off time.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,873 ✭✭✭Redo91

Only 4,000 at Cardiff apparently. Wasn't there around 10,000 in Dublin?

I like Price if I'm being honest. Players celebrating makes me kinda warm to them if it's in a good natured way of showing passion. Shows a bit of personality.

I don't dislike him for it and different strokes for different folks, if he feels like it helps him and gets him pumped up then I think its fine, its not as if he is turning to the opponent and doing it.

All that said though, he does have a head you would love to smack!

Im better on doubles than Price. How he came back to draw last week against Wright, I have no idea, nor does he :P

In fairness from 6-3 down, he threw two 11 darters and 17 in the last leg to get the draw.

I know, I was being sarcastic, he is still sh!te on doubles. Last night proved it.

Wouldn’t like to see Price if he won a title if he celebrates a draw like that
