This is starting in Dublin next year on 1st February. At this stage is viagogo the only option to get lower tier tickets? Ticketmaster seems to be largely upper tier.

    my picks

    MVG
    Anderson
    Wright
    Daryl Gurney

    Mensur Suljovic
    RVB
    Adrian Lewis
    Simon Whitlock
    Michael Smith
    VVDV

    MVG
    Anderson
    Wright
    Gurney

    Van Barneveld
    Suljovic
    Cross

Think those 7 are certainties. Whitlock, Smith, Wade, Chizzy, Cadby, Klaasen could all get in as well. Lewis' spot might depend on how deep he goes in the Worlds

Can't see Wade or Chizzy being in with a chance of a spot this year.

Is Barney a cert? Probably. Agree on the other 6 for certs.

And yep, Lewis needs a decent run at the Worlds to get in.
His loss of form has been remarkable. He looks so out of shape.
Not that he ever really was in shape but he is particularly poorly looking now.

With the darts having its own channel at the moment I was watching one of the
old finals. 2006 or 7. Lewis is in the crowd and he looks like a child.

To be fair to Lewis, he had a major surgery during the year. Barney's still the #1 draw for the PDC in Holland, so he'll be nailed on for PL until he retires/

Would Cross be big enough for a spot next year ???

Cadby not being in the worlds could go against him ???.

Could that guy Diminti Van De Beargh get in ???

Cross has had an incredible year in 2017, he’ll get a wildcard.

Cadby’d be a push but there’s usually one player that gets in that’s a real shock.

I’d like Van den Bergh in it, but he needs a deep run as well

Lewis - Wade in the worlds a few years back in the Semis was one of my favourite matches of all time. Wade sitting on a finish on the other end, Lewis steps up (5-1 down, 2 all in legs) needing 98 knowing he can't go inside on the D19 and get a finish. T20 and D19 both landed right in the middle of its section. That game even had 'breezegate' :D

Munch has absolutely no chance and wouldnt win a single point if he was, there are literally hundreds of players ahead of him.

Could for the reason you stated but would still need a really deep run. Like semi final minimum

My PL so far. With so many big names on the decline it's hard to predict.

    MvG
    Wright
    Ando
    Gurney
    RvB
    Mensur
    Price
    Cross
    Kyle Anderson

Dimitri van den berg and Michael Smith could also be in with shout

Can't abide this glorified exhibition, boring as ****, I'd prefer to the Great Mongolian Bake Off.

Curious as to why some think Kyle Anderson has a chance of getting in. Have seen a few saying it here and elsewhere. Has done nothing to merit it from what i can see.

Big scorer. Won a TV tournament this year. He's a real outsider though.

Darren Webster has given himself a good chance of getting in

really hard too pick the 6 other players as a lot of players have potential

Van Den Bergh a likley one I would say. I hope for his own sake that Lewis isnt picked not ready for it and would actually ruin him.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 4,464 ✭✭✭Ultimate Seduction

Think van den berg would get smashed every week too but I can't see who else gets in unless they go with the reliables like chizzy Lewis an wade

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 924 ✭✭✭lambayire

Chizzy, Lewiis (Adrian) and Wade have no business being in the PL this time around.

Some new faces to shake it up. Time for some changes and all that.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,029 ✭✭✭Deeper Blue

I think dvdb could hold his own in the PL, doubt he'd make the playoffs but I don't think he'd disgrace himself à la Wes Newton either.

I agree, one of the reasons the PL has gotten so stale imo is due to the same old faces being in it year after year. It'll be nice to change it up a bit with the likes of Gurney, Suljovic, dvdb, etc.

Theres at least 3 changes to last year with Klassen, Huybrechts and Taylor gone. Lets say Cross, Gurney and Suljovic are their obvious replacements. Now if we get rid of Wade, Adrian, Chisnall we are at 6 changes. Too many imo and who would the new 3 be.
So I think probably 2 of those 3 survive.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 39,455 ✭✭✭✭PTH2009

Adrian Lewis and RVB could get in for there name/reputation. Wade and Chizzy could get in too cause of the same thing but would they sell the tickets ???

it's a hard choice for the PDC to pick 6 other guys with the form some players are in

is the being announced after the world final ??

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 3,277 ✭✭✭danganabu

    RVB is a certainty

I'd like to see Gerwyn Price and Rob Cross as two of the picks, they look certain.

9 above, 8 are probably sure enough, Kyle Anderson a doubt.....Taylor might decide to go another year yet after the final......choice then between Van Den Bergh n Jamie Lewis......I would give the Belgian the nod on achievments

I'll be surprised if Adrian Lewis isn't in there.

Would he be the lowest ranked player ever to play in it if he does? Think he needs the break anyway.

Gary Anderson got in at #19 a few years ago, Lewis will be lower than that alright.

A weak case for Lewis is that he hasn't needed a wildcard for the last 6 years as been consistently T4, whilst the Barneys & Wades have got them lots of times, even Taylor and Anderson once or twice. So it would be harsh not to give him one wildcard chance now that he needs it.

The debate over the picks here is always the most interesting part of the DPL isn't it? Much more fun than the actual event :)

    Could well be.

He will drop to close to 20th in the order of merit after the Worlds I think.

I know Barney was fairly low in the rankings a couple of times as well.

Has mensur confirmed he will play; seeing as he declined last year on not wanting to travel.

    Whitlock is a terrible pick.

The rest make complete sense for one reason or another.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 18,511 ✭✭✭✭paulie21

Think that’s the best lineup they could of came up with. Maybe Smith is questionable. If Kirk Shepherd didn’t get in then be mad to include Jamie Lewis

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 39,455 ✭✭✭✭PTH2009

    Cross vs MVG in Dublin

    yess

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,286 ✭✭✭✭mdwexford

Lewis can have no complaints but I'm surprised he didn't get in.

    Poor line up though.

Putting Jamie Lewis in could’ve done huge damage to his career

Exactly Lewis was no where close, Norris, Ade Lewis and Van de Bergh just to name 3 alone were miles ahead of him, Jamie had a terrible terrible year, two weeks doesnt change that.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,828 ✭✭✭Healio

No suprises really; all of them are in the top 13 in the world. No 8 Chizzy and no 10 Wade didn't get in; don't think either deserved it anyway

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 837 ✭✭✭Gotya

Thought Dimitri van den bergh would get in before Smith or Whitlock.
After the year Lewis had just the good run in the world's was never enough, unless he won it.
