Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

A mixture of both. Whoever owns it, should of had a security company look after it, SDCC should look at issuing a big fine to the owners

Some activity there in the last few days. Skips being filled. A bit of a tidy up going on.

They've blocked off the entrance and exit also and repaired the wall at the entrance which had a chunk taken out of it last week. Poor old Frank Keane will have nowhere to park his van/mobile ad!

Sad sight yesterday as I was pulling out of garage, there was a homeless guy asleep underneath a pile of cardboard in front of the old entrance to the bar.

Going slightly off topic. I see the Deadman's Inn is open again. I was just wondering has anybody been in it, or a they doing food etc?

    No publicity for that AFAIS.

Nothing on Google either since 2014. Strange.

still if it is open again, I wish it well.

Meanwhile the foxhunter is getting worse looking by the day, is it the squaters tents that I seen blowing around out the front of it the other day? Does anyone have any info on whats happening with it at all?

I didn't even realise it had closed!

Wasn't there a lot of trouble in it because of the halting site across the way? Speaking of which, is that halting site now closed?

I only knew because I run by it on the way to work.

Think one of the halting sites is still there, but could be wrong.

Is there any update on the development of this site, does anyone know? Interested in buying a house in this part of Lucan but curious as to what might happen on this site in the future.

nobody knows. its a major clusterduck that no-one saw coming. it could be anything . i guess the dream that was avoca is not going to happen now. wouldnt it be great if wetherspoons took it? or else it could be a load of apartments.

the easiest thing planning wise is a pub or a shop, id imagine apartments would be a much harder ask. no-one has a crystal ball unfortunately.

Wait, are back to April 1'st?

Anyhoo, the local Gazette are reporting that the site was re-sold and the Council have no clue who bought it??

anyone heard anything on this over the last couple of months?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 69 ✭✭Dublinvillian

I noticed last week there is a security guard sitting down there in a car full time , must be something going onn

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 317 ✭✭leinster93

Lead was being stripped from the roof by low life's and selling it on. Security there to protect from vandalism. The owners at least protecting their investment and preventing the building from going in to complete disrepair...

Are the owners still a secret? Its mad to think that site has been left empty for this long...

Its a bad location in fairness. The garage beside it should buy it and create a bigger car park for trucks etc

Big steel fence going up around the place today. It's going to look like Wheatfield or Cloverhill when they're finished.

It's unbelievable to me that the local council do not know the identity of the current owners!

I thought that was obvious? The US company that bought out Avoca? Maybe I'm wrong though...

Considering the article mentions problems of ownership I think they don't own it.

I think Avoca bought it, but it appears there is issues on who owned it before Avoca bought it, so probably end up in court.

Heard that Dunnes have bought it. Anyone else hear anymore? It'll be grocery only.

There'll be massive objection on traffic grounds if this turns out to be true.

I'd welcome it. There's what, about 50,000-60,000 people in Lucan / Adamstown and we don't have a grocery Dunnes. Their perpetual spend €50 and get €10 off voucher is highly competitive too.

You'd welcome it at the side of a busy slip road off the even busier N4?? Plenty of green field space still to be built on at Liffey Valley. The Foxhunter site is no location for a supermarket.

Given the space available and the parking spaces required, I'd expect it only to be a relatively small supermarket. It will add maybe 2 or 3 cars per minute to the slip road, I don't think that will make any material difference to how busy it is. The slip road itself isn't hugely busy anyway. Very convenient for people coming home from work in Dublin city to do a quick shop to pick up groceries to make the dinner.

I'd rather have a massive shiny Tesco Extra on one of those big available green fields around Liffey Valley where one can do the weekly shopping. We need a Tesco too (other than that miserable heap in Hillcrest)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,749 ✭✭✭degsie

The main problem for that location is that is easily accessible travelling from Dublin but is a pain to get to from the opposite direction.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 65,710 ✭✭✭✭unkel

Very true, degsie. But given the relatively small site, the last thing we need is a very busy supermarket there. Anyway, can anyone substantiate this rumour?

I'ts a poor location for a retail outlet. Up until recently I did a lot of work for Tesco and Aldi on projects like this and it wouldnt have a hope. Dunnes wouldnt waste their time here (or they might as part of a sequential test but unlikely).

Highly surprised no-one has setup camp there!

    =-=

The only thing I can think of is if Applegreen bought the Foxhunter and Texaco made it into a Applegreen/Burger King/coffeeshop mall as they've done in a few other places, but doubtful due to the bad traffic bottleneck that happens at the Leixlip M4/N4 section.

    =-=

Otherwise, Weatherpersons. It sells food, drink, and closes at half 12, although the Ball Alley House would probably be a better suit.
