Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Just seen on Twitter one of the labs is advising that if sample pots aren't ordered before the weekend and returned early next week they will miss the November 1st deadline.
I assume most of the people on here have this done but maybe no harm to remind any of your friends because with the way this year is going some people might not realize that November 1st is do near.

I sent away the dung samples the other day. Had to laugh when yer wan in the Post Office asked me, if there was anything of value in the package. :D

I only got my sample kit today and won’t get to take samples until Saturday. Monday is bank holiday so it will be Tuesdays post. Hopefully it’ll make it.

This Friday is the closing date for a few bits of the scheme, unless there's an extension granted.

The dung samples have to be received by Friday.

For those picking the vaccination part, 1st vaccinations must be done 2-4 weeks before weaning, housing or sale and the second part completed 2-4 weeks before sale. There's a record sheet and purchase records to be sent off to the Dept as well but I can't see any closing date for this but I'm assuming payment will be delayed till that's done.

More details below and the links for the different parts of requirements as well in the last section.

There are record sheets for vaccination and meal. I didn't choose the vaccination option but did choose the meal feeding.
The meal feeding option has a record sheet but the terms and conditions state

Receipts, invoices and labels of all compound feeding stuffs, and/or straights (feed materials) and complementary mineral mixtures purchased must be retained and made available for inspection and administrative check.

That to me sounds like you retain records in case of an inspection? Also there is no address to send off the completed forms to.

Click on the blue rectangular box with BEEP-S in it at the bottom of the page, then click on meal feeding or vaccination.

Sounds like they changed their minds, cos the meal feeding sheet has to be sent to Portlaoise along with copies of the meal dockets.

Edit:The sheet has a published date of 23/10 so seems to me that they have only decided in the past week that it must be sent into them.

    The sneaky gits.

I'm sure there has to be another few weeks before these are due anyway as you can still weigh for another few days and if you weigh this week it has to be done before weaning so feeding needs to continue for another 2 weeks at least.

At a guess I'd say you won't get paid until that info has been received.

I'd say so but I can live with that, mine will only be weaned by the weekend so there will be another 2 weeks feeding to record for me.

Bit poor that there is not an option to submit online though.

When there is a doubt always go to source. I emailed the beef schemes section.
They replied that you retain the meal feeding records yourself and only send them in if specifically requested to do so.
I would post a screenshot of the email but I don't really know how and it also contains personal info of mine.

Does your chosen Laboratory send a notification to DAFM that they received fecal samples or do you have to do any action in relation to this?

The letter I got states I have to submit "records showing commencement of meal feeding" & "meal purchases receipts" by the 06/Nov/2020 or face fines!

Presume that means I'm being audited

    Quick question,

Has everyone who sent in dung samples received their results? I sent samples by registered post on 13/10 but have heard nothing back since, usually emailed the results.
Just a bit concerned that I mightnt be paid for this after going to the bother of doing it. An Post tracker confirms they were delivered.
    Cheers....

I downloaded and filled in the form this morning, Option 2 on the vaccination form, along with the prescriptions. I'll have to ask the Vet for individual receipts as the statement has other items included.

Better to have it ready in advance.

Who did people here find best for dung sampling? Who gave the most detailed analysis? How much does it cost?
I have a few pens of beef cattle that I want to check before I go putting in any unnecessary dosing into them.
    Thanks for any suggestions.

Hope it's not tbh as lads had plenty of time to get it done by now anyway.
And if it was extended it might only delay our payments.

I could be wrong but I think that was the last day to weigh but you have up to 7 days after weighing to input the weights online. So all not lost yet if you weighed but just haven’t uploaded yet..

No, weights couldn’t be inputted on ICBF after 12 midnight last night which i think is unfair on farmers who weighed in the last few days.
It doesn’t affect me but a neighbour of mine got caught out, he thought he had a week to put in the weights the same as people who weighed earlier had.

Lads had plenty of notice to do it in fairness. It just seems like putting something on the long finger a bit too long. (Which we can all be guilty of sometimes)
