Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Without a doubt one of my favourite 'YouTube series'. Been following those lads closely since day 1. Always an entertaining watch and often very funny. Dodongo is absolutely wild!

    Dondongo is hillarious :D

The 'Alriiiight!" guy is brilliant too, & also the other guy shouting "Woooo welcome to Game Chasers woooo!" :pac::pac:

Great show though, no bullsh1t just hunting games & getting bargains

Would be interesting to see a similar show based on Adverts.ie....

Never heard of this, but just watched the first two eps and it's good craic. Amazing the amount of classic games stores in the states, I didn't realize they were so many.

Watched the latest episode and it's very entertaining alright. Proof of why the hunt 'IRL' is so much more thrilling than scouring ebay!

That said, I'm not really convinced it's anything other than a slightly geekier Bargain Hunt, but hey we'll let them away with it ;) At least they know what a NES-001 is

You'd never heard of it?? Ah man its very good...it really gets good about midway into the first season

Indeed, & they address this very question in one of the Episodes. Someone asked them why they don't just buy online instead of wasting fuel/energy driving around buying them manually. The thrill of the hunt is the answer they gave :)

I'm definitely an advocate of the 'thrill of the hunt', I might be the only person knocking around this forum who's still never used eBay :)

watched all the episodes recently enough. It's very professionally made, and the two guys are quite funny. The Flintstones incident in episode 8 was great!

Ever since I got the RetrowareTV app I've been watching retro gaming videos in bed at night before going to bed, the missus thinks I'm cracked.

Yeh its really good, makes you realise how bad we have it over here! everywhere they go there are retro games.

Why does Billy always look like he's been crying?
Also its also amazing how stingy they are, imagine their offers on adverts.ie to some of those crazy overpriced adverts "I'll give ya a buck a piece"

I watched it earlier, still cant believe he got a tekken cab up and running for 110 dollars.

Ya the prices in general seem to be fairly disgusting compared to what we pay over here for stuff..

My Tekken 3 cab cost me €100...it was en route to a skip from an arcade in town so I gave it a new home

I've not watched a single episode of these
Do I need to watch them in order or can I start at the new eps and work backwards?

Well I've got the camera and sound gear for another little while and a crew on standby :)
Imagine how boring it would be filming the various markets around Dublin and Ireland in general. "Oh look, some PS2 games, wow".

We could always fake it like they do on "American Pickers" :)

Watch them from the start, some of the gags are somewhat long running {ie the alright guy} etc. They're addictive, & really make me wanna buy things when i watch them.

The Irish version would be balls, the retro scene here is so hit & miss....& with prices fluctuating daily one days bargain would be another days rip off

I now know why I was so crap at gaming...

I needed to wear my cap at a jaunty angle

How does this look? - should improve my shump score no end

The thing is, we have the people here on A&R who could really pull off an Irish version of this show. We have the skill set, the equipment and certainly a few people with some personality and quirks (you know, weirdos :) ) that would make it at least interesting to watch.
We just dont have any shops or markets worth a damn :(

But the accent, the godawful Irish accent just doesn't translate well onto camera :( We could get the pyongster to overdub our voices with cool professional sounding English accents :D

I could dig back to my childhood in America and use that accent :D
I was in Boston so its not that hill-billy inbred pig rapist accent like a lot of the folk on Game Chasers, but its something

    Edit:
And just on the Irish accent. It may not translate very well to film but as someone who's travelled a bit for work and pleasure I think it's probably the most loved accent there is abroad. Also, I'm sure a lot of people here who travel around will agree it certainly helps with the foreign ladies :D
Of course I'm not counting Cork or Limerick accents here, you guys suck!! :D
    I'm joking of course:cool:

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,563 ✭✭✭✭OwaynOTT

No one ever notices that I'm Irish when I'm abroad. Even when I was younger, people who didn't know me well thought I was English.
Dunno why I said sound, fair and all that other stuff. I could be the voice. And I think we should call it The Super Pal Friends Show

Did you hear your man in the flea market, "I pass a lot of gas." He was basically saying all he does for the day is fart & sell stuff :D

Amateur Irish acents on film just makes me cringe, turn on Fair City if you wanna ee what its like :o

Then you are under utilising your natural Irish powers.
When I was a single man in a foreign bar or night club I would sometimes pump my Irishness all the way up to 11 :)

I was wondering what all the
"I could have just downloaded the rom, maybe I was scammed"
lines were about in the current episode...but twigged its obviously in reference to the bell-ends going on about the
Cheetamen 2 'scam' which Billy & Jay were attcked over, not to mention James Rolfe & Mike Matei

Ok, well I've now watched them all.
Really like the show and I just wish they had more funds to grab a bit more of that retro goodness that appears to be all around them.
Man, we really have nothing in Ireland with regards to retro games :(
The RAGE looks even crappier in my eyes after watching all these episodes.

I also grabbed the free Retroware TV iOS app to get the latest episodes and check out the other shows. App unfortunately isnt fantastic.

I heart this thread. Such a cool & fun show. It must be nice living in a country where there's enough of a population to actually sustain a retro collecting hobby/habit without buying everything off of fleabay...
