Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Aldi and lidl took half the hit, the suppliers also HAD to take the hit..... There for no profit for the suppliers, whereas the supermarkets can get their money back on other products.............
Products are being sold at a reasonable price so far, so how are consumers losing out on fruit and veg for 49c ???

    Supermarkets took the loss AFAIK.

Can we keep the thread on topic
Aldi super 6 is all about saving money
The ethics and politics thread is over yonder

    Not true.
    RTE News wrote:
In a statement to RTÉ News, SuperValu said it will absorb the cost of the price cuts currently being offered on some fruit and vegetables in its stores and costs will not be passed on to producers.

Both Lidl and Aldi have confirmed, via separate statements to RTÉ News, that they are not passing the costs of the special offer vegetables back to producers.

Both companies said producers are being paid as normal and the cost of the special offers is being absorbed by the companies.

So I'm right, your boss told you and you believed him without questioning his clear vested interest. This is all despite the fact the you've been linked to an RTE report where Aldi, Lidl and Supervalue all said they are absorbing the cost. You haven't shown any evidence for the contrary except to say that "I know for a fact". Fair enough so

Anyway enough of this rubbish and back to the bargains, its what we're all here for after all. Any news yet on a new Super 6 for Meat ? Should be due on Thursday ?

Any sign of a new Super 6 for meat, current one is listed as finishing tomorrow. Though they might be giving it a rest on meat till after Xmas?

Best to check in your local Eurospar. It said valid till 24th December or until stock lasts, but they had loads still in on Christmas Eve in my local one, so worth a shot. All pineapples, melons and clementines at 9c each.

They were 29c where I shop in Aldi since day 1 of these offers ! Nice 1.

29c for me aswell in Bray Aldi for the last while, stocked up on potatoes, onions and apples for nothing. Will be doing the same with the pears and broccoli this week. I reckon Im feeding myself a lot better and for literally 1/3 of the price I was paying when I didnt live next door to an Aldi a few years ago.

Does that broccoli keep for long does anyone know?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 19,688 ✭✭✭✭Muahahaha

Not very, in my experience, but then broccoli never does. You need to use it within a few days, or else chop it into florets and freeze it.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,964 ✭✭✭✭Thargor

Ah its fine Ill just stick with the frozen bag, one of the few frozen vegs in Aldi that are nice.

Did anyone see any of the Sweet Peppers or did they just order in the one pack per store? I was in Aldi Rathmines 4 times in the past 2 weeks and no sign of them at any stage.

No news yet but I do expect more fruits for next 2 weeks. That's what usually happens after vegetables weeks.

Lack of Sweet Peppers in stores is down to availability I would say.

There was a poster who always had a look at their leaflet on Wednesday, seems to be gone now.

We will get the details of new super6 tomorrow I guess.
