Haven't seen any decent cheap steak in a long time, I know these are technically cheap but I find a steak always tastes way better when you get it for around €2.50-3 :D

Lidl have Rib Eye with garlic butter. Extremely tasty.
Eight or nine quid for two I think.

That's essentially all my dinners for the next weeks sorted. Add in the sweet potatoes from lidl and I think they have onions there too that's one hell of a lot of food for very little!

Gonna try my best to eat myself into a brussel sprout related coma over the next few weeks again. :)

There have been discussions between the supermarkets and the dept of agriculture, and they have agreed not to repeat the farce that went on last Xmas. As I work for a supermarket supplier , I know exactly what kind of carry on that they get up to. Its ridiculous and a complete waste of product and money for suppliers. As a result of the supermarket s keeping their prices at a reasonable level, their orders are less than half than what they were when they went barmy this time last year .

Just to put this to bed...what exactly is farcical about it? Aldi and Lidl took the hit on them and the consumer won. Can't see the problem with that.

And as you say orders are less than half of last year meaning suppliers and consumers will lose out.

Aldi and lidl took half the hit, the suppliers also HAD to take the hit..... There for no profit for the suppliers, whereas the supermarkets can get their money back on other products.............
Products are being sold at a reasonable price so far, so how are consumers losing out on fruit and veg for 49c ???

    Not true.
    RTE News wrote:
In a statement to RTÉ News, SuperValu said it will absorb the cost of the price cuts currently being offered on some fruit and vegetables in its stores and costs will not be passed on to producers.

Both Lidl and Aldi have confirmed, via separate statements to RTÉ News, that they are not passing the costs of the special offer vegetables back to producers.

Both companies said producers are being paid as normal and the cost of the special offers is being absorbed by the companies.

So I'm right, your boss told you and you believed him without questioning his clear vested interest. This is all despite the fact the you've been linked to an RTE report where Aldi, Lidl and Supervalue all said they are absorbing the cost. You haven't shown any evidence for the contrary except to say that "I know for a fact". Fair enough so

Anyway enough of this rubbish and back to the bargains, its what we're all here for after all. Any news yet on a new Super 6 for Meat ? Should be due on Thursday ?
