Not at all strange, thats an entry point, where tickets are scanned on entry, have been is use for a good while, saw them first at O2 London few years back, splits/filters, the incoming crowd into single file, at least i think thats the idea

They seem to be convinced on EP banter that the bars shut at 11 PM, is it not 1.30 - 2 AM they shut now.

No bar is going to close at 11pm, its only getting going then,

Heineken have 4 extra bars, on a quick map scan, this year in the area which was previously outside the main arena, and you can be dam sure they will milk the s h i t out of this. Or should i say “us” .

Yea i remember going to Rock Im Park in 2009 and they had them at the main stage

Is it just me or is the barrier in the middle at the front of the stage that splits the crowd a real eye sore

It may serve several purposes, but i’ve seen it used for ticket scan entry, where the ticket scanner guys were in the middle,(on a ledge, so higher than the crowd) and scanned tickets as you passed through for a number of gigs i attended at the O2 London.

The Tesco shop in the Hendrix campsite but a rip off at 5 Euro a bag, better to get it at Super Valu in Stradbally for 2.50.

If you want to get into it, you got to get out of it. (Hawkwind 1982)

Hi guys came across this forum and was wondering if anyone could give the lowdown on the different campsites, first year attending so not a notion where to choose. Any help would be appreciated

You obviously didn’t go to the Tesco shop last year as Ice was less than €1 a bag!!!

Was it Londis a few year ago they were charging a fiver a bag of ice and 2 Euro for a packet of cigarette papers on the Sunday. I don't use the bags of ice myself as I mainly drink cans and chilled spring water with absinthe as my spirits and get it in the town as its handier for crew campers.

Not sure it could have been last year was the first year I went to EP and after hearing stories about the crazy prices, the Tesco was really handy and was the same price as there other stores.

They can take a running jump, it will be a few 1 litre bottles of water with one fifth removed, and frozen solid, all placed in a large cooler bag- , voila- a fridge that cools beer, well for at least 24 hours anyway!

Jimmy Hedrix is usually the busiest and craziest. If you want to session all night every night then you might want to camp here. Generally a young crowd. Andy Warhol is similar but slightly less intense.

Oscar Wilde used to be a bit quieter but last year was very busy and had a young crowd. It has moved this year and I reckon it will be equally as wild as the Hendrix campsite because of its proximity to Freetown and the car park.

Janis Joplin and Charlie Chaplin would usually be the quietest and slightly older crowd. The back of these campsites would be best if you like your space and peace and quiet.

Generally speaking the further you are from the arena the quieter it will be. Hard to say what the best is as it depends what you want.. my twenty year old sister loves Hendrix and Wilde but I would find them a nightmare!

Can't wait now, basically 5 days to go.

Following a lot of research & sampling, I have made my list and its a monster. I cannot complain about the line up, think its testimony to Live Nation that there is probably a list even longer of stuff I would avoid, irrelevant with more I want to see than I will be able to.

I expect to see way less than half of my list, there will be many clashes. I am leaving the final list until I can see stages and clashes ;)

Disappointed with the change to Salty Dog, always enjoyed some cans there or in Other Voice afternoon / early evening before going into the arena for the rest of the night. That said, I have been reasonably successful sneaking in cans, will be trying that again this year. Not a big fan of spirits, but may resort to the Ziplock Manouvre.

I figure Live Nation know it won't really damage them. No media is going to view the inability to skull cans as a 'cause', so no brand damage, better bar sales and the few people who don't come back next year is not a problem when as Melvin says: I can sell out 2 times over

You'll be lucky if you get time to go to the toilet once the whole weekend viewing that lot, I presume your not going for the full sets, maybe 20 mins of this and 20 mins of that with the occasional full set. ;)

Don't forget to add table salt to water to supercool the ice.

Think last year I got 17 acts in, so expect much the same. Beauty of going on my own is being able to move around as I like ;). Can't do anything on clashes but also won't be marching too far between sets, so will skip some if at other end of the map etc.

Will be on here Mon or Tues after to report how many I crammed in!

Does this keep it frozen for longer tho? Cos all you end up with is bottles of salty unusable water then.

I normally see between 25 and 28 over the weekend. On my own and non camper so spend my time moving from one set to the next. Generally do a full set but sometimes if clash is two must sees do half and half

Same. 24 I think last year.

On a side note, in an effort to save cash I brought whiskey with me. It'll be the same this year, what with the Salty Dog situation.

Can't say I remember all the sets, but I can say I really enjoyed them all!

I might have this wrong, it says it lowers the freezing point.

    How did you manage that???

An app from a lad on here lets you mark the bands you want to see and you get reminders beforehand.

So that, combined with some decent walking shoes and grit and determination, you can get it done :)
