Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Nothing outside the dwelling - then I went to the gate and the whole horizon is ringed with white mountains. Very atmospheric.. alas my camera has lost battery power and cannot get it to recharge..... Ah well...there are times when having no money....

    Rain in Waterford County unfortunately

I think it's clear that the coloured radar that Kermit showed is not that useful in pinpointing snow. It's very elevation-dependent, with reports from low levels all saying rain when the radar said snow.

Kerry Airport is reporting light rain from that blob on the radar, temp/dp 2/1.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,780 ✭✭✭✭ninebeanrows

Important to remember unfortunately with the rise iof automatic weather stations, and the marginal type snow we get in this country- rain will often be observe when is infact a wintry mix.

Scanning through roadside webcams, a scattered dusting on the grass is apparent in the west and north of country .
    Snow looks thickest around Knock.

The northern portion of this precip moving north could turn to snow later today.

I never used the radar  I used current obs for the region. If you look at the time of my post containing the radar image...

But which obs? People in Limerick said it was raining. I've not seen any snow reports from that area for that time.

No, what would you want to get out of a warm bed for, it's chilly?

East Clare, after the coffee sorted. One of the most desperate snow photos I have ever lowered myself to take, but 4 pages of photoless pages calls for desperate measures.

Well it's certainly sticking a bit on the hiils in N Tipp. Taken at 13:35. I have managed to overcome the shock of getting out of bed, thanks to two espressos, and have actually bestirred myself to go outside to grab the photo. Stuff that, time for another espresso.

Beautiful day in Letterkenny today with unbroken sunshine all day and not a breath of wind.

We seem to have had some freezing rain overnight as my car is encased in ice which didn't melt all day. Going to try and thaw it out now to save some pain in the morning

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 32,634 ✭✭✭✭Graces7

Dark all day here , but blessedly silent now as darkness and peace merge into night. Snowy mountains and clouds merge and meld on the far horizon. Dwelling is finally warm; the weather takes over life in so many ways

    This was first light today.

    Very atmospheric!

nothing here in Meath, not even rain, but at least we've had 2 dry and sunny days. Tonight looks like another dry, clear and possibly frosty night.

I don't think Limerick will even see a frost.

Not that cold, unless temperatures fall considerably.

Jesus I don't know what part of Limerick you're in but I'm here in rural South Limerick and there's a good hard frost on the windscreen of the car already

According to my weather app it's lightly snowing but it's more like fine rain.
