Armchair-side with my Audrey Hepburn-esque hair looking at the mess all around me and trying to figure out what to do with myself. Would love to start cleaning but there’s no point as the builders will be back in on Monday (on a bank holiday no less) and the place will be up in a heap again

I got a lovely walk in around remote local roads, beautiful views. Was in the door 20 minutes and the heavens opened. Talk about luck. I'm not very fit so it took a lot of motivation to go but glad I did now.

Please adjust your attitude, I'm about to pass out with the heat here.

It's going to be a half-hearted clean in a few rooms I think.

Retake the falling snow: each drifting flake
Shapeless and slow, unsteady and opaque,
A dull dark white against the day's pale white
And abstract larches in the neutral light.
And then the gradual and dual blue
As night unites the viewer and the view,
And in the morning, diamonds of frost

It's part of a Canto in Nabokov's Pale Fire. I came across it for the first time when I watched Blade Runner 2049. There's an amazing scene in it which uses part of the 'poem'. I've loved it ever since.

Collapsed on the settee with a film on in the background. Myself and two friends went for a long - 18k - hike today, which is about twice as far as I’ve walked since before lockdown began. Weather was beautiful, but I am fully expecting to be in utter agony tomorrow
