Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

The GT6 that Alan has rebuilt to a superb standard is now complete.:D

IRL 1 is a 58 chevy biscayne former property of the irish embassy in london. the car is registered with both the dvla diplomatic division and also with the irish motor tax office. the sad reality is that the irish embassy in london do have the option of buying back something they effectively sold indirectly many many years ago. the registration is truly unique. sadly, our government have absolutely no interest in it. they were made aware of the facts 15 years ago.
nobody seems to have noticed that this car was specially built in the states in late 57. it's right-hand drive ! hence, the car has a hugely significant value if exported to the united states...due to it's history and current 'duel' status which cannot be revoked.
it's was a beauty to drive when i drove it 15 years ago.
the real irish....live in america...for those who havn't copped !

I dont think Ive seen this type of car in here.
This type of car being a Hillman Imp.
And judging by the trim round the opening rear window and the trim along the body / engine lid edge, along with the three vent holes just above the rear window. I'm going for a Mk2 made between 1965-1968. It could be earlier, but it's definitely not a 1969-on Chrysler beer-can body.:p0 -

Mc Plaxton, you remind me of Poirrot who glances around the murder scene, works out who did it and why .
I remember lying under my cousins one in Harcourt 40 years ago and changing the rubber doughnut thingy on the drive shaft. he thought I was a genius. did it make me attractive to girls at parties? should have ,but no!

That brings back memories.
Young peasant was driven around in one of these, squeaky yellow, but only a humble 1.2 (or 1.3?). It hauled the whole peasantry (and a folding caravan) to the North Cape and back.
But I also distinctly remember my mother (who drove it daily) complaining bitterly about its non existent road holding if the road was anyway moist. To get it moving at all in the winter, dad had to pack a big lump of scrap iron and two bags of cement into the back and it would still fishtail all over the place.
Hate to think what this would be like to drive with a real engine like the fitted red top 0 -
