Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Hey, thanks for the reply. To be honest, I am a bit down about it as I’ve studied flat out for 3 weeks practicing everyday. Just the pressure of not being able to sit it again until next year screwed with me a bit. I failed report writing last year too. Would you know how long it typically takes for them to send out the next round of invitations?

How long is a piece of string haha, can depend on who drops out,how many are doing tests and all that. The longest bit is yet to come(vetting) can take months or even more then a year for some, so try get distracted by something rather then waiting for an inbox!

Did mine today, for those that havent done it yet its nothing to get panicked over as long as you actually did the stage one yourself and then looked into the report a bit. Be on the ball with the numbers and names i missed couple of these. Best of luck :D
PS if the girl in the last group today that offered to mind my phone in her bag is here, gimme a shout :P:rolleyes:

Quick one all, do you need to provide a print out version of the invitation to attend the Assessment Centre or will a screenshot on your phone do?

Screenshot is fine. Bring a bag to keep your phone in when doing the test though.

Congratulations everyone on making it to stage two! And good luck to everyone heading up to Dublin tomorrow. Just covering all bases and throwing it out there to anyone who didn't catch what you need to bring with you tomorrow because i have not seen anyone mention it.

    1. Printed screen copy of your invitation to stage 2.
    2. Photo identification (Passport/drivers licence)
    3. Pass port photo with you candidate id and signature on the back.

How did you get on with the report writing Sazo? I'm going over the material all week - quite happy I bought the career services course to get used to the appropriate layout before I get to it on Friday!

  • Registered Users Posts: 172 ✭✭sazxox

The report was grand, not half as much info required as there is in the career services or Garda IP however the vidoes change so yours could be completely different!

Best of luck with it hope it goes well for you :)

Anyone know how much of a margin of difference can be between repeats in stage 2 and stage 1. Feel like i prob did a little worse in non verbal than stage 1. Hopefully enough to get through.

Does any one know what they can fail you on in the reports?

I felt like I did okay but am really not sure as don't know the marking system.

Hey, I had the same issue. It was to do with how my personal profile on public jobs was set up and I ended up having to ring up and book over the phone! I would advise ringing straight away in the morning as the offices are closed over the weekend and all the decent slots will be gone by Monday.

I was actually the opposite, I thought the test was much easier than the preparation courses.

Yeah, just two witnesses and they even repeated the phone numbers. Not too shabby.

I’m gonna email the Garda trainee address to see roughly when the results will be out, if anyone gets a reply before I post the info here feel free to beat me to it ðŸ‘

They send end of july I did yesterday

  • Registered Users Posts: 225 ✭✭daniel1390

How is the report writing exercise graded does anyone know, is it still possible to pass without getting one of the names of the witnesses, is there marks for structure as well as content. Cheers in advance

  • Banned (with Prison Access) Posts: 90 ✭✭Macu17ab

It’s marked on accuracy of content, grammar, spelling, and structure.

With accuracy being the most important, you would lose more marks for missing a detail like that as opposed to spelling something wrong in one instance, but it’s still not a fail/pass situation if you miss such a detail.

I myself missed the 2nd name of one of the witnesses as she went straight into her address really fast after saying it, which I was very frustrated about. But I did manage to get every other detail of the incident, with a decent enough structure to the report. No doubt I lost some marks on that part, but theres only so much that could be deducted from one mistake.

As long as you jotted down the majority of the details in a coherent and legible manner I’m sure you did fine!

Can anyone who has completed stage 2 say if the style of the Stage 2 test was the same as Stage 1?

Have been through 3 recruitment runs and never saw the test that was given in Stage 1. They must have used a new company.

Debating on whether to purchase a course if the content is nothing similar to what is being used.

  • Banned (with Prison Access) Posts: 90 ✭✭Macu17ab

It’s the exact same format. When are you sitting stage 2?

Anyone near Limerick looking for a pre-interview course can give me a shout.

  • Registered Users Posts: 101 ✭✭Frenchjoe87

In 2015 i done a one day prep course for stage 2 with a retired garda who has a company called the garda interview.ie however this time i have decided to purchased the stage 2 prep course from career services and i notice the report writing layout is different. the career services one is more of an informal paragraph based layout where as the garda interview report layout was based on an actual garda report as in you addressed the report to the sergeant in charge at the start and various other little things. i'm wondering does that layout difference matter as long as what was in the video was put into it.

PAS interviews in August. If ya pass then its medical before fitness as far as I could figure out. Email pas they've answered anything I've asked about timelines etc. I think itll be new year before anyone starts medicals etc

Got my message today about my acceptance into stage 2. Stage 1 didnt go to plan and I scraped by. Does anyone know what the best prep course would be? Should I try the Sova one as they're the ones supplying the tests?
        Thanks
