hmmm.Hard to explain. But in 11 also an MMO.You advance through the story after doing the quests. What follows are IMO some great cutscenes as seen from your characters perspective.A pain in the arse to do in 11 due to the fact that you needed a party of 6 or more to do any quest worth while.

Can't say yet but it does seems story focused. For an MMO FFXI was very story driven with most of the end games areas tied to the end of a storyline. It also had a good lore around it. By what they've said in interviews FFXIV should be similar.

It should be ok. I was running a 8800GTS 512 on the beta no problem. Reduce the detail and you'll be fine.

Lol, Varik  Someone doesnt like SE :p From the game killing fatigue system - Ive been playing over 2 weeks now and only for reading about its existence online, I wouldnt even know its there - I havent seen it all (!!) and Ive been playing *alot*! To the Chocobo scandal! Which was only in connection with the Chinese version, its still a chocobo and called as much XD And now drama about exploits - SE spotted it, stopped it and dealt with its abusers...

    /hitsselfforfeedingtrolls

Anyway, meant to post last week to give impressions, but got carried away :o

Registration was more complicated than it needed to be, the game itself still has a list of bugs (some were just dealt with in a patch this morning) and the game lacks a lot of functionality :/ BUT, still loving it! It has so much potential and as I mentioned above, the fatigue system isnt an issue at all :pac:

@Kurbinator, I wouldnt fancy playing it with a GT220 tbh >.< I mean you can bring the settings down stupidly low, but I wouldnt want to play it at anything like those sort of settings....

    1024*768 Low quality

    2560*1600 High quality

(And because I took the above snaps while there was a dust storm, I took another just to show u can actually see down ;p but wanted to compare a like-with-like with those 2)

    1920*1200 windowed HQ

Anyway, may have been was released too early, but its mostly good stuff :pac::pac:

I slack too much, meant to go back and amend last post - kept it brief...

I can keep this kinda brief too tho, since I came across THIS REVIEW which does a fair job at reviewing the game in its current state.

I really think SE, for whatever reason, released the game too soon. As someone who wants it to succeed and my love for their last MMO, Im happy to push through many of the bugs that would otherwise turn the average Joe off.

I was surprised with some news from SE today tho. Basically, they are extending the free trial period for another month (Im feeling I got a nice deal actually, 180-day package works out at under €7 a month. And now its 2 months free to start with, not bad XD). I think the move was a wise and badly needed one tho, since the game is in a sort of beta state right now. They also outlined some changes due in the next version update, which thankfully address some of the more worrying problems the game has.

SE seems to be relying a little too much on players having previous FF MMO experience and dont do enough for those who either have none or worse yet, no MMO experience at all. The game is more casual/noobie friendly in the sense that you can go ahead and solo much of the content, but the question right now is - why would you want to? In a time where so much is handed to you in MMOs, SEs style of dropping you in it and letting you find your way yourself isnt going down well, not helped by a layer of bugs lashed on top. I like having a certain amount of unknown and the fact that theres a lot of discovery ahead but some simple things like pointing you in the right direction is missing from this game. Dunno if it was in that review above or somewhere else, but someone mentioned they didnt see much storyline - it is there and only that I randomly clicked on the right npc to carry the storyline on, I wouldnt have known about it either!

    To other posters here;

Yes FFXIV is story driven (and Im liking it so far, doing the Gridania storyline myself).

No PvP nor any planned that Im aware of, if PvP is your thing, this game is not for you ^^!

I wouldnt avoid starting in FFXIV for fears of the game failing, it will either become a niche MMO much like XI (who managed to hold half a million subs for much of their 8 years to date) or if SE can deliver on their Nov & Dec plans it'll be in much better form for it. Its not the behemoth WoW is, nor will it ever be, but Id be willing to bet its going to be around for many years to come =)

Despite some disappointments, I still am enjoying myself. Seeing some improvements already and those plans for the forth coming patch is genuinely welcomed (not to mention sorely needed!). Obviously Id have preferred what is due in the months ahead to be how the game was for launch. With that in mind, I can see the PS3 launch in Mar 2011 going down with *much* more positivity. If your thinking of getting on board now, have some patience XD Otherwise, maybe hold off til December (but we all know whats going on in the world of MMOs in December >_<)

Well I hope things do pick up for the game. I held a copy in my hands up in Game last week for about 5 mins, and ended up putting it back on the shelf. That was pretty much driven by the poor reviews and commentry you see everywhere, which won over my desire to get re-immersed in the FF universe. FFXIII prolly didn't help sway me either I have to say.....

I think SE have shown themselves to be rather arrogant, and assumed people would play the game irrespective of quality, just because it bears the FF name. Sales would indicate otherwise, and I think this is what spurned them into action rather than anything else:

    http://www.vgchartz.com/game.php?id=35106

FFXI was my first really serious MMO (4 years of it, CoP was the best gaming experience ever, and I'm still in touch with my static even though we all quit the game 2 years ago), and I wanted FFXIV to be the next, but I'm gonna wait.

Plus having jumped on the WOW bandwagon, gotta say I enjoy it (4.0 patch changes and all), and Cata coming out in December will pull a lot of people in I reckon - I was playing LOTRO when WotLK came out and the place was emptied virtually overnight....

tbh if I saw that video from GT b4 I knew of FF14 I would not of touched it seriously.I was expecting FFXI quality +1 from this it seems the only thing they improved on in 14 is the graphics and screwed everything else up .Anyone who played 11 knows that crafting with 0.1 increases was a pain.Wth? crafting Smithy and armouror atm both ~10 mining 12 gladiator 12 and tbh that's down to leves more than anything eles and it's all grinding >< I'm seriously going to think of going to FFXI after 3 weeks ><.
I only play for an hour or so each day though but still So far that GT review is dead on

No MMO that I can think of has ever managed to turn around from a bad launch (and pretty much every MMO but WoW has had a rushed launch and even WoW was partly rushed). They might limp in to an "ok" state for a year or so but never turn it around (well excluding Eve but Eve is not a normal MMO).

Add in that Catalyst is coming and SE's best chance would be around summer time to really have a highly polished game with controls that make sense by the time the WoW people get bored. Problem is that there are always more games coming by then so chances are that SE has utterly missed the boat on this one and it will become the smaller version of two FF games (exactly as EQ1 vs. EQ2 and AC1 vs. AC2).

there only chance is for the PS3 release this march.

If they can get their act in gear by then, then they can save this from being the first Final Fantasy since FFII from being a total joke of a game.

well if 14 doesn't get it's act together I'm going back to 11.I don't like the idea cause PoL and it's dodgey history but IMO FFXI was better than WoW WAR AoC Runes of Magic FF14 All of which I've played.
The only thing going for it is it's graphics which means sweet FA if you had to fork out 200 quid for an up to date card like myself:mad:.
Well admitaditly I had to get 1 eventually so not that bad over it but still what a jip

Its easy to see why the game is getting roasted by the critics atm, whatever leeway you may have extended an MMO in its early days its clear the game was pushed out the door too soon. SE isnt a new company, they're not a small company, its not like they dont have other MMOs to take notes from and its not like its even their first stab in this genre...

Its not all bad tho, I do like some things they have done with it.

I like crafting more than I have in any other MMO, they put a lot of work into the system and it shows. Its easy to get into too, just like with any job/class you need only buy the weap from a vendor and off you go. You get crafting quests which supply you with the required mats, so you get eased into it (not to mention free skill ups). Similar story with gathering classes, each with its own interface its nicely done. Also the nodes are shared, so theres no scramming for that glistening tree - everyone gets their piece.

Even if the quest system could use a shake up, its nice that mobs appear specifically for you (/your group), so theres no fighting over spawns.

I really like the cross class ability system. As a mage, I can use a tp move to heal myself (from PUG - the hand to hand melee class), cure and buff myself/others from healing class while nuking/doting away from my own class. This system also works for crafting, each craft has its own abilities you learn as you skill up which you can then use in another craft. For eg, lvl10 carpenter learns "tender touch" which reduces durability loss while synthing, you can then proc this ability while your goldsmithing. And again, same deal for gathering classes, they also have their own abilities as you skill up.

Theres a nice amount of teleport crystals around which allows you port from place to place using anima. The problem atm is, since there are no airships or chocobos yet, its your only way of getting around (other than on foot) so its pretty easy to burn thru ur anima. You can manage it well if you play with friends or group up, since only 1 person needs to teleport and the rest of the group gets offered a free ride :)

And I did my first proper exp party a few days ago, even with the state of the game as is, it was a lot of fun!

Between the group experience and having a nice guild/ls, its what is really keeping me here atm. The game really is in beta atm and I would have otherwise taken a few months out. On the upside, I think time/patches will bring it along, its not like the game itself is broken. Things pick up at about 20 for the fighting classes, with some of the more funky spells/abilities only showing up then - but plenty are finding it hard to get motivated to get that into it as along with the game being in such an incomplete state, it feels like they have stretched out the bit of content they do have as a way of stalling people...

my gladiator's only on lvl 11 atm as are my blacksmith and armoror miner is on 13.Still on starting gear can't make any relaible gear for my gladiator:mad:
Not sure if i should go back to 11 or stay for the free month

I must say, y'day after reading an email from SE reminding me that the billing period was soon to begin, I began to think a bit more seriously about taking those few months out. I came across some interviews with Tanaka & co published this week from Eurogamer and PCGamer which basically went about asking why such a disappointment and how do you plan to fix this mess. SE have gone about apologising and blah blah... patches to come...

I will say this much for them, they are not a company with a reputation for being transparent or forthcoming but actions of late are steps in the right direction. Yesterday evening I was literally looking at my account screen thinking '1 month or cancel, 1 month or cancel' and spotted in the background someone /shouting in game about another free month! I want to say its nice of them, but my thoughts are more - its the least they can do!

I still feel the game has much potential, but with so much work to be done I dont really want to pay for this beta period. 3 big patches coming in the next few months, starting next week, to bring much needed fixes, adjustments, missing functionality and some content.

Im sure they werent under any illusion that the launch was going to go smoothly, but given how badly its been received there is now more riding on the PS3 launch than ever. Its easy to say now after how badly its been slammed they should have delayed release, but in all honesty I think I would have made the same decision. Aiming for a bit before Cata release, they had an opportunity to get some users who would have otherwise not bothered trying the game at all. The hope that once introduced to the game, even in that state would have at least got the game on their radar and while some would have just turned away, others could see the potential and would have checked back in after patching - netting SE some users who would have never touched the game if they launched 3 months post Cata. Thats my thoughts on it anyway.

Heres hoping they deliver on everything outlined and then some. Anything less than "much improved" & "has come along in leaps and bounds" with the PS3 reviews and I can see budget cuts and server merges :s

I hate to say it but I'm really pi$$ed off at SE personally. That being said I went back to FFXI great game but I don't have the time to play it.Ironically WoW is the only game I have the actual time to play.Ironic because if you asked me 5/6 years ago about WoW I would of given you a list on how crap it is and another list on how great FFXI is life ehh:o.
As it turns out WoW's childlike simplisity suits me as I get more done in it than FFXI.But as soon as the Summer break rolls up going home to FFXI

    My MMO Ranking

    FFXI
    WoW
    AoC
    WAR
    * (All of those fre MMO's like Rumes of Magic ect.)
    FF14 (worst MMO yet IMO)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 289 ✭✭swirlser

Is that your actual ranking or the order in which they were released? :p

    Just sayin' :p

And is it even 7 weeks old? The vast majority of people - even on the fansites - would happily tell you the games real launch is in March. I dont even really think its a cop out to put the excuse that it really is in beta atm. Think about how many simple things are missing. There is no AH (!!), theres no mailbox system of any kind, theres no mounts, theres no airships, extremely basic functionality like inviting a friend to a party cannot be done unless they are standing near you, chat window doesnt work properly and doesnt do simple things you would just expect, so many early areas arent even there - every city has paths and stairs leading off to places you cant go yet........ the list goes on and on.... UI needs much work, combat needs work ^^ Can you imagine logging in tomorrow and that stuff is there/sorted? That there was any sort of exciting content added. Its not a pipe dream, its just not there yet

Its a mess atm, and even with extended free time I may still go off to play Cata for awhile. But I am excited about what could become of XIV :pac:

Appears SE have finally admitted they fcuked up. Tanaka has been given the boot and they've drafted in a load of FF veterans to try to save the game.

PS3 version has been indefinately delayed, and in effect the PC game is now F2P.

    I'd stick with WoW.....

(PS sorry I'm at work and can't access game sites to post a link, but check out eurogamer or mmorpg.com forums for proof)

Edit: or click the link 2 posts above :)

Dont look at me, Im taking a break for awhile myself XD Thought they would have the game in better shape by early next year, I can see now that its going to take even longer - just so much **** to be done...

Good they delayed PS3, just means they arent going to make the same mistake twice - its a clear msg they know what shape the game is in and that the PS3 launch needs to go off with a bang (a good one ^^)... So maybe mid next year Kurb :P

Think ill just lay off mmo's in general for awhile :D Havent even finished AC2 not to mention Brotherhood or whatever the newer one is and ive GT5 sitting beside me, think its about time I put it on - havent played a racing game in forever (wipeout and mariokart not incl!)

FFX-2 wasn't great, but it was finished, and not broke to ****(the fighting system itself, when you subtract all the ****e, wasn't that bad!) .
but FFXIV was still a laughing stock when the beta test ended.

I havn't logged in to the ol' forum in ages, but just to say where I stand with the whole ffxiv thing:
I havn;t bought it for PC and won't. I will definitely be buying a copy for PS3.

Its free to play atm, basically because its in a broken state. Was released much too early and I wouldnt recommend it as is. It is being heavily worked on and may (*hopefully*) be worth looking into in the future tho (as in summer '11)

Yes, plus they seem to have forgotten one obviously crucial aspect in that games are meant to actually be fun to play.

Whats actually wrong with it?bugs galore?

Not so much buggy at this point, which is in some ways why Ive stopped playing it. As a couple of months ago there were bugs a plenty and it was kinda thought that once they fixed those things up everything would just start to look up... but all that happened was the excuse you once had was "fixed" (to a degree anyway) and you were just left with a shell of a game that couldnt stand on its own feet ^_^ In fact the first big version update at the end of Sept which had a hefty list of fixes and improvements they did completely deliver on and rather than pushing the game forward it seemed to only shine a light on just how much work they still had to do ><

They really did just leave out of the FUN factor. You get a pretty looking game with the basic MMO formula, but theres no trimmings, little thrills and milestones are underwhelming and few and far between. Instead the grind bar is very much in your face and its only a matter of time before you question why your bothering at all.

My first week was uber lag filled, which as annoying as it was - was thanks to thousands of ppl all starting off together. A combo of numbers dropping, players spreading out and SE putting in some more hidden divides helped ease things up by standard retail launch. The few weeks that followed I enjoyed myself mostly. The bugs were obvious and annoying but the novelty of the new world, getting to see something new most days and the community made for an enjoyable enough experience. As far as I was concerned SE had a plan, they had said months before launch there would be no AH at the beginning and that there was no end content at that stage - none of this worried me as I just assumed they had some sort of a rd map and that if you were pacing yourself thru early content these things wouldnt be much of a bother. But by end of month 1, people were burning out, populations were noticeably dwindling and news of what was to be added/fixed was very slow to emerge. The game just went downhill from there. The reviews were coming out and were pretty scathing and the clear population hit caused SE to jump into dmg control. Whatever plan they may or may not of had was out the window, I can only imagine the kind of unsub numbers that were coming in as the free trial period was supposed to end and reality smacked them in the face.

Anyway, that was it, the apologies started rolling and the 'new' 3-month plan was set out, but for most it was too little too late. For others, like myself, we waited it out a little longer to see what they would do. But as I said earlier, despite an on time and fully delivered first big version update it only seemed to put the daunting work load of what it would take to make this game enjoyable in perspective.

If this didnt have the FF title and the console launch ahead, I would be flat out quitting and calling the game a flop. Instead Ill step back, say the PC launch was a flop and try keep my hopes in check that come PS3 launch the 'real' game begins. SE are at least making all the right sounds at this point and showing a strong commitment to getting this game sorted out.

So thats it ^^ Ill look in maybe from time to time (or not ;p), but really my advice to anyone thinking about checking this game out is that your best to wait probably 6+ months, see when the PS3 launch is due and closer to that date check out whats going on with it.

    :sniffle:

Just remembered this thread and figured Id update (and was then reminded how excited I was for this game :/ )

Havent played since late last year (with the exception of a couple of hours in the last 9 months!!)

    The quick version of the story is the game still isnt up to scratch ^_^;

Its still free to play and progress has been slow. Although as Ive been checking in on forums pretty much monthly to read patch notes/trending topics I understand that when the new team that stepped in said they were going to do a complete overhaul, they really werent kidding!

    Last check:

Lag is a fraction of what it was.
UI has been on a diet.
There are now more NPCs and quest givers (and actual quests lol!, there wasnt really much outside the core storyline and "levequests" back when I was playing).
Serious battle system changes happened/happening (auto attack was put in, the weird physical level system has been removed, the fatigue system has been removed, Mana regens now (another lol for that).
Dungeons added! (yup there were none!)
Mounts added! (only took them a year!)

Pretty much every aspect of leveling has been tweaked - gathering classes have had all related actions sped up, points needed to ding reduced, party bonuses finally added, chain bonuses added...
    Some high level content

The nightmare (I forget the name of it), the AH substitute thingie *drawing a blank*, anyway it now has a search function - still not as good as an AH, but at least you can search. You wanted to open your wrists when I last played if you had to search for stuff.
Many things dumbed down (sadly), mobs now have their lvl and how they aggro displayed, I think there is a built in threat meter now, can finally target party members from clicking on their name (So much basic **** that should have been in already has finally made it).
    Airships added!
Its been better optimized, so it no longer makes your machine scream (and seems to run better even on what was deemed a mid range PC from last year)

Anyway, all good stuff, all should have been there from last year, but afaik the game still has a way to go. I think they are due to hit version 1.2 by end of year and rumour has it they may give out some news about the PS3 launch around then - which Im excited about, because it will signal they do believe the game is in such a state they can hand it back to reviewers and not be laughed at, again. Plus new life into the game...

I dont want to go back until Im sure its in a much much better place, sadly thats probably not happening this year o.O

But there you go, its still there and its crawling forward, its about to hit its first birthday and its only just getting mounts

Well, they have announced the PS3 version date

    keyVisual.png?_v=7ls

    Q1 2013 >_<;;;

    Crap....

This roadmap PDF Shows some nice changes. Pity its all taking longer than Id have hoped :s The free trial is ending at the end of this year, not sure if ill retry into the new year or wait until the PS3 launch (the 2.0 "reboot")

Looks impressive. I hope it will be enough in a SWTOR / GW2 world.

Edit: Starting to charge now is a mistake IMO, they should wait till 2.0.

Charging a sub for it is ludicrous. In essence it's in Beta until 2.0.

Despite having a chance to play this for free for well over a year i pretty much gave up on it after 2-3 months as it was in such a bad state. I had lost hope to be honest. Only start thinking about it last week and decided to give it another shot given all the updates even though id have to pay €10. I first decided to read over patch notes and updates etc. I came across some really good videos which gives the best from each patch.

There has been some massive improvements which iv been quite happy about. Alot of the changes seem to reflect the good aspects of FFXI from a battle and playstyle point of view but also made some improvements. Gone is the ghastly physichal level, no auto-attack bad UI/Abilities etc. It is much easier to understand an implement. The one thing that still needs huge improvement is the server lag and optimization. Make no mistake this game is still not optimized correctly, and if you have a high end machine it will often run worse than better.

I dont think its worth paying on a continuous basis as of right now. Maybe wait until 2.0 as mentioned but to pick it up and play is enjoyable. The only thing i regret is that there was a bug a few versions back where a lvl 1,3,10 etc player could group up with level 40-50 people and get the same EXP so pretty much anyone that plays constantly now is well above the starter levels so its all solo for a while.

Sad that it was such a disaster. there were even aspect of the 'old' FFXIV I liked.
It seems when it comes to fixing a piece of ****, they couldn't tell the difference between the things people were complaining about because it obviously sucked arse biscuits. and the things people were complaining about because it was new and unusual.

then again I was probably the only person in the history of the world that didn't mind the fatigue/physical level business, I just wanted the game not to be so laggy and have such pathetic excuses for menus and cursors.

Watched some of those clips, altho somewhat interesting to someone who has at least played it, they must be awful boring for someone who doesnt know anything about the game. Also matching up the up-tempo music and some of the incredibly mundane parts was very odd!

I must say Ive let slip even checking in from time to time to see what SE are doing now, even that has become annoying. There is some amount of messing going on. While some of it may be necessary, they do seem to be tripping over themselves at times too. With the deletion of parts of the game and items and marks etc, just seems best to forget about it all and if I cba in future to come back and see whats going on with it so be it.

Honestly, I think they should have gone at it with a sledge hammer, instead of this softly softly tweaking this and that and adjusting and re adjusting.... you do that when you have something worth while tweaking! The game was/is a mess, dont worry upsetting the balance and order and harmony because it doesnt exists!

"He needs more blankets AND he needs less blankets!"
(Dunno why this came to mind!)

Think Ill just wait and let the critics tell me if 2.0 is actually worth a look at all... Merry 2012 FF fans, see you in 2013, maybe :)

Figured i would update this thread too for those that are following this one and not the other.

After playing FFXI since 2005-2010 I had high hopes for FFXIV. I got the CE at launch but after it failed terribly i didnt touch it until Feb 2012.

Iv been playing it regularly since and it is quite enjoyable. It has been under Yoshi P for well over a year now and him and the development team have made a lot of good changes bearing in mind they are still greatly held back from the terrible server structure and engine the game was originally built on. They have been providing huge patches and changes to the current game while at the same time building and designing a brand new game for the relaunch.

Dont get me wrong there is still plenty that warrants this game as non playable but if you can get passed that in the interim it is fun to play right now and plenty to do until the new version launches.

FFX|V 2.0 as they put it will be out hopefully December this year and while agree this game is pretty much dead and buried there will be a big draw back from players once it launches. Everything is getting redesigned! New servers, New Client, New World, New system and a lot of people are holding out. There was a little bit of noise and new info at E3 and Japan Expo this year but in typical SE fashion they are being tight lipped. A flood of new info, screens and videos is set to land sometime in August. Following that servers will be shut down for 1 Month for Alpha / Beta of the new client and then release. It will then come out on the PS3 soon after. Yoshi P even made an effort and brought the development team into Blizzard to sit down with with the WoW Developers and directors so that they could learn from them and take aspects of what they have done right. Make no mistakes SE is putting everything into this relaunch as they see it this is their chance to save face and the brand.

Some pics below of the new game / engine and concept art. These were taken at 15-20% optimization but they still look amazing! I have no doubt that this will be the most beautiful MMO game out there. It just needs the system and basics behind that other MMOs have done well to make it good and playable to the masses.

Also multiple interviews from E3 & Japan Expo of those following the game eg - http://ffxiv.gamerescape.com/2012/06/07/e3-2012-interview-summons-chocobos-train-tracks-and-rocks/

Also as it stands now, there will be an "entry" subscription plan that lets you create up to 8 characters, but only one per server, and this plan will cost $10.99. Legacy will cost $9.99 (those that have currently paid for 3 months subscription or more), and the standard plan will cost $12.99.

Is there anyone currently playing or plan to give it a shot when 2.0 comes about? I think alot of people like the fact that it will be on the PS3 as well.

Well the rebirth of FFXIV trailer was released yesterday, it got me excited for this game again.

  • Registered Users Posts: 802 ✭✭✭MarkJD

Yea most definitely! Also there will be some new gameplay footage released at Gamescon on the 16th of August. This will be from the brand new engine and client. Cant wait!

  • Registered Users Posts: 802 ✭✭✭MarkJD

The producer made a second trailer. The first one he felt was designed more as a movie style trailer where as this one he wnated to give it a more Final Fantasy feel. Has some of the same scenes from the first one but the voice over is a little bit better.

Still no gameplay but that is going to happen at Gamescon on the 16th of August.
I know you’re all jonesin’ for some in-game footage, though, and I promise it’s on the way. We’re going to be introducing some of the new content and features, doing walkthroughs on some maps, and showing the overhauled combat and Battle Regimen systems.

Is this going free to play or a full price game with a subscription or has the price plan even been announced yet?

  • Registered Users Posts: 802 ✭✭✭MarkJD

This wont be free to play. The price plan will be $12.99 for 1 character or $14.99 for 8 characters. There is a special legacy price plan for older players who have paid for at least 90 days consecutive membership of $9.99 but its too late to qualify for that.

You can pickup a copy of it right now if you want to try it in its current state for about €10.00 (Worthwhile)

With this you will be given access to the version 2.0 Client for download when it released in December this year for free. You will also get 1 months free trial now and then when the new version launches after Beta you will get another 1 months free trial of the new version of the game.

The PS3 price has been revealed as $39.00 so much cheaper than normal PS3 games. If they release a new PC version of the game i would imagine it will be in or around the same price.

Unfortunately SE are terrible at releasing HQ screenshots so your left with this compressed grainy finish. Also bear in mind this is not being run on a PC with maxed out settings and it is also pre alpha. The gameplay footage speaks for itself.

New interface looks great - reminds me of a suggested interface mod for FFXI that was doing the rounds a few years ago. I'll see if I can find a ss.

  • Registered Users Posts: 802 ✭✭✭MarkJD

I haven't really followed the numbered FF series after 8 to be perfectly honest. Well not including 11 which took up 90% of my gaming time from 2005-2010 :)

But from what im hearing the guy who created and worked on the UI from FF12 was brought in specifically for this. Apparently people loved that UI so thats the reason why. It does look crisp and clean. I love the fact that it is drag and drop and it is fully interactive using the mouse. XI was terrible for this. Also in the gameplay trailer you can see that you can freely move around the whole UI and lock it in place etc.

This above to the jumping and alot of other minor things really show how much SE have changed their opinion on this. You know yourself from XI how protective they were of their game and allowing people to customize and change it up. To now with them allowing all of this to also supporting community made mods and add-ons for the future.

Just hope people give this game a good shot and that SE and the development team listen this time around to Alpha / Beta feedback and they dont rush release it. You dont ever see MMOs be completely rebuilt for a second chance.
