Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Thanks and yes to all you say. We get so much more weather out here than anywhere else....

I am fine; I have good supply lines now and good folk here. The first winter I was here I had no ESB and I think they thought I would quit. Heard one neighbour tell another, " We realised that this one isn't soft but a but tough!" Best compliment I ever had..

Give my wishes to your mam!

Meanwhile that last heavy shower was hail here... Some very ominous clouds scudding in now. No good with tech stuff but observation and experience..

No problem Grace. Sometimes us younger folk (I'm 43) lose sight of the fact that weather that mightn't unduly stress us at a younger age is a different kettle of fish as you get older. I know on occassion I might get a bit dismissive and brusque, without really thinking. So apologies for any time I've done so.

I just see my mam, sometimes without heat on when I head home, and the heat leaves her body so much more quickly than 20 years ago.

Weather today in Laois is windy and raw. Plenty of showers. Back home yesterday it maxed around 3.5C so certainly a feel of early winter. Reminds me of November 1996.

Well its official winter today in North County Dublin brrrrrrrrr.

A wind that would cut you in two all day, freezing + lashing rain from afternoon onwards. Miserable.

Thankfully it's a cosy Saturday night at home.

Some interesting rainfall stats for this month:

Dublin Airport has had 59.3mm of rain up to yesterday so far this month, 17.6mm than all of October.

Also wetter than January and February this year combined, more than two times the rainfall in January and about double February's rainfall.

This figure is also higher than May and July's rainfall.

Similar story with Phoenix Park and Casement.

57mm in Sligo about half our total.

A lot of sun this month after first 4 days of zero but also a lot of rain too.

The wind has eased off and the background noise of the tide crashing the rocks on the shore at the end of the field behind me is loud.

"Whatever next, " as an old friend used to say.

Bitterly bitterly cold. Merciless blue sky! met,ie says just above freezing, and a keen little breeze.

    Sky has blue ambitions.

Been out for turf and certainly bracing

All seems much colder than this time last year; was still going for early walks then.

There's a real chance of something wintry across the South and Southeast Wednesday evening and night. Uppers and thickness are just the right side of marginal. Primarily a high ground situation but one to watch....I was going to say it may catch a few unawares but I see fake media ia already warning of snow armageddon lol!!

Had 3 people tell me last night that "Met Éireann" are saying it'll snow next week. One fella pulled up his proof, an Irish mirror article. That was enough about that!

A dark and leaden sky here now; oppressive, as if anything could fall soon..bitterly cold still.

Hope all the old folk are keeping warm.

5 degrees but bright and calm. North East. Good walking weather. May light the fire soon, before the chill sets in.

Looks like a cool week ahead.

Barely touching 4 degrees here yet does not feel unpleasant out at all. Sky has that dark but nice pre-blizzard look about it.

The very peak got some snow cover last night after the really intense heavy rain over S. Dublin, maybe it was evaporate cooling?

Well winter is well + truly here. In fairness it has been very mild so far up until this week. We are out in park every weekend + you would be wrapped up but never cold + I was starting to wonder why I had so many heavy wintery clothes in wardrobe+ I would do a clear out.

Ha ha well that's all changed this weekend. Freezing cold+ biting winds so now I know why I have them.

Hope it doesn't snow. I hate it + hassle of trying to get to work in treacherous conditions. Only like it if its blizzard conditions like 2 years ago + everywhere closed!

Moderate to Heavy Rain in Kildare now

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,184 ✭✭✭Elmer Blooker

That Netweather radar is a joke! It should raining be in my parts for over an hour now - it hasn't arrived yet!
The Met E radar is accurate and the rain should arrive very soon.

Sure is, I'm just after driving through and got caught out badly. Blizzard conditions with heavy driving snow and next to no visibility, a lot of snow on the road but just about passable, lucky we didn't get stuck.

Lashing rain in Galway although you would not know looking at the radar very cold temp 7 degrees in strong wind

pouring rain again at Dunshaughlin, there really hasn't been many dry hours between Halloween and today, it's mostly being pouring with rain at some stage every day or night.

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,693 ✭✭✭SleetAndSnow

Raining in cork city, some strong winds too with it.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,047 ✭✭✭appledrop

Surprise ,surprise the rain is back again in North County Dublin.

Is this what it's like to live in West of Ireland? I wouldn't last 5 mins.

So sick of it raining constantly since Halloween.

Ah well back to Netflix. Unbelievable is well worth a watch if anyone looking for a recommendation!
