So said I would just throw it out.

Second baby- 6th July 2019 - a happy accident.
1st Baby going on 13 months! So 2 under 2.
Had my first in CUH- so nice was like a hotel however this lo I am going to Kerry University Hospital...

Happy but shocked, wondering am I mad. I find one hard so what about having 2.
Going to Doctor on wednesday!

Anyone else July 2019?

I’m going public in the Coombe. I did domino scheme there last time and found it great. Unfortunately they won’t let me do it this time, but am sure it’ll be fine.

From talking to friends, I think the pro’s of private is shorter wait times, more consistency in that you see the same consultant all the time, and also more scans.

Journey where are you hoping to go? To be honest dont know much about private however I think if you are outside of Dublin- it is more expensive... a few thousands and you basically get the same care.

Had a HTP last Saturday calculating from last period date our 1st babsheen will be due in July 2019, still so shocked! I haven't told anyone yet because I want to come to terms with it myself first before I can hold a conversation on it, struggling to even say the word "pregnant". Hubby has been under abit of stress lately so hoping it will all calm down before I tell him on Friday, so happy I found this forum and realise I'm not alone! ðŸ˜Š❤

Do another test
Sign up for mother and infant scheme
Get letter for hospital

Some GPs do blood tests but not all (mine doesn’t) it’s usually a quick enough visit.

I found I had a lot more questions at my booking appt that my gp visit. Good Luck

Hi Everyone and congratulations!
Still don't quite believe my positive test this week, was a faint positive so testing again but look like I'll be due with baby no2 11th July 2019.

I have a 16 month old so things are going to be busy next year! Had my first public in the Coombe but going to go for the Rotunda this time. Also plan to do an early scan around 8 weeks. Anyone have symptoms yet? I had implantation bleeding which I didn't have on my first, other than that just the odd twinge in the uterus area!

My main symptom has been a bleed for the last week. Along with some nausea and tiredness I’ve a 14 month old here too so plenty to keep me busy

Haven't really had too many symptoms this week, just very tired and quite heartburny. Last week I had been feeling quite nauseous too, but seems to have eased this week. I went to the GP yesterday, we're also booked in for an 8 week scan with the fertility clinic. I think we're going to go for shared care in Holla Street.

My partner had her first doctors appointment yesterday. Due 3rd of July. It's our first and has taken the guts of 2 years to get here. Elated is an understatement. Both her mother and sister suffered from bad morning sickness in their pregnancies so she is preparing for the same although has been well to this point.

Can I ask here what is the difference between going public or private. The option for private is available but unsure which option to go for.

But I have had an emotional breakdown just now, so I guess I am

- apparently I didn't transfer to the new health insurance provider last January (company plan). The company went from Laya to VHI and I forgot to register with them by then. Don't know what to do now. I'm not covered at all, feel useless and stupid

Hi, I have both my booking appt and scan on the week of the 10th Dec. Unfortunately they’re not on the same day but what can you do. It’s defo earlier with the coombe this time round but am thinking that’s coz it’s not as busy a time of year maybe.

Am also going for a private scan in the next 2 weeks too (for peace of mind)

Aw congratulations! Try not to worry. Went public the last time myself and will be doing the same again. Had fantastic care all throughout the pregnancy and was very lucky to be seen in the midwives clinic most of the time. They were so lovely. If there are any complications you'll be seen by the consultant or their team anyway. My own gp reckoned there wasn't any point in going private as you receive the same level of care anyway! With extra scans you can get them privately if you want. Well worth it. Now if only we could fast forward a few weeks and not feel hungover every day

What hospital were you with, if you don't mind me asking?
I went to GP today to get a referral letter, so everything is official now

Congratulations! I had my test yesterday too, still cannot fully believe it's real:) I have some tenderness in the breast area, other than that nothing. My due date is around the 17th July, it's probably too early for sickness? I didn't have any with my first btw.

There are three options: public, semi-private and private. DO you have a health insurance? As without it you won't get accepted to the semi-private and private.
These two differs - with private you have a private consultant who takes care of everything, you have no waiting time and scan at every appointment. You'll have a private room after delivery (not always though, depends on how busy they are) It's costly though, roughly 3-5K nowadays. You will be able to get some back (around 20%, I think) with Med 1 form.
Semi-private is another scheme, where you see the same consultant every time you have an appointment, as well as a team of midwives. Also "Visits will alternate with your GP under the combined care scheme and your GP will see you for your six-week postnatal check-up unless you have been requested to attend the hospital." You will have a semi-private room in the hospital (5-6 people, usually). The cost is about €1000.

I was with Sligo last time. The midwives were exceptional. Got private scans done in Castlebar at 8 weeks and 12. Had check in appointment in hospital at 16 weeks with consultant, anomaly scan at around 20 and then was between gp and midwives clinic for the remainder of the pregnancy. Baby was delivered by midwives too but they were in constant contact with the consultant and her team so always working under her guidance. The team also popped in and out to check how everything was going throughout. Everything was grand.

From memory, I think they give you options. We did ours in 1 day on a Saturday last time, but some friends done them one morning a week for a few weeks.

The physio classes used be on a weds morning but that was 2 years ago.

I’d defo book early if you want the Saturdays or the hypno birthing class as they book out quickly

I think I called the Holles Str myself with my first pregnancy. Yes, just looked at their website:

You can book online to register with any of the Public Care Options below (apart from the Community Midwives) or alternatively, call the Central Booking Office: Monday to Friday: 08.30 - 16.00hrs. Tel: (01) 637 3288. You can also email cb at nmh.ie with any booking queries you may have.

I am wondering if they do 12 week scans in sligo hospital? I had my first baby in uk and they always do 12 week scans but online here I keep seeing just 20 week scans?

If you're a higher risk public patient, like over a certain age etc. they'll do it. It definitely isn't standard but everyone gets the anomaly scan at around 20 weeks in Sligo. Think some hospitals don't even do that! We are getting an 8 week and hopefully 12 week scan in Innervision in Castlebar. They're about €100 a pop and they're absolutely lovely there.

Hope everyone is doing OK. Have been struck down by a nasty case of gastroenteritis as well as the morning sickness. Never vomited so much in my life!!

I'd be worried about dehydration, do you take much fluid during the day? I have some cramps in the upper abdominal after I eat something, I didn't have this before. I'm also nauseas (no vomiting though) and also feel very irritable all the time!
I have to stop practicing yoga up until 14 weeks (teacher told me this) which is heartbreaking, as it's something I really enjoy. So, I'm jogging at a slow pace few times a week instead.

So I have lovely nausea of late and a urine infection- I am complaining so much at work- the girls will cop it eventually. bought ginger biscuits but that is a huge give away

Went into gp and he gave me an anti nausea tablet to get through it so hopefully dehydration won't happen! Def need to get more water in though. Ah having to give up yoga is a pain. We'll all just have to take it easy I suppose!

Just got a faint positive.. we only started trying this month, my son was one this weekend so it's all go! Delighted but a bit terrified as I lost my first pregnancy at 7 weeks.
