Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Hey guys,

We've changed how we handle the vb3 datastore - it now uses memcached. If you get any more datastore errors, please post

    - When (time + date)
    - What page
    - Any other stuff your reckon might be useful :)

    Thanks!

    Dan.

There was a pile of trouble there this evening, but ye seem to have fixed it. I didn't try posting myself, but I don't think there were any posts for about three hours and a lot of threads were coming up with the 3am backup message.

Lots of errors there for half an hour at least.

More info on problems indicated by Angry Banana and Tar.Aldarion. Tried to post this earlier, but got errors.

    http://boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?p=51416075

    From error page:
    Invalid SQL:

    				postid, IF(thumbnail_filesize > 0, 1, 0) AS hasthumbnail, thumbnail_filesize,

    			WHERE postid IN (-1,51415884,51415978,51415996,51416075)
    			ORDER BY attachmentid;

    MySQL Error : Can't open file: 'attachment.MYI' (errno: 144)
    Error Number : 1016
    Date : Monday, May 22nd 2006 @ 06:22:06 PM

Refresh isn't fixing it. Verified from another system with lynx.

The email for "Technical Staff" on the error page needs fixing too. It has regi.boards instead of regi@boards.

This may not be the best place for this - but how bout whenever the system goes down for a few hours an automated email gets sent to let people know when its back ?

Might be an idea to stagger it too so that theres not a sudden massive amount of people logging in all at once.

    Pointless tbh.
You will get people still going to check it out.

    Why would this help?
    1. It would put more load on the servers -sending mail to 70,000 users-not exactly smart or possible with the existing set up I think!!
    2. Its not like we pay for the service-expecting this level of notice is a little unheard off for sites we pay to be members of let alone free sites.

    Kippy

Calm down - just a thought - plus I think it would stop people constantly re-checking every x minutes. Maybe not all - but a fair few - there are already emails sent to notify of updates to subscribed threads etc - I think it may help - it may not - its just a suggestion. Chillax there.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 18,781 ✭✭✭✭kippy

No one is not calm in here.....
    Just responding to your post.
I doubt the same volume of mails would go out regarding subbed threads.....and if anything would put more load on the already overloaded hardware.

I assume he is an employee of H365 and Regi made an Admin account for him so that he could alter a few setting here and there.

I look forward to hearing his platform and policies on how he is going to run the place now that he has disabled and banned all the other admin accounts.

vbulletin doesnt allow admins to be banned, the user ids are protected in the config file.

Just received the same issue, at around 16:55 on Monday the 12th of June 2006 when trying to view the €399 Laptop page here.

And other stuff useful, well it is taking around 5 - 10 seconds to load each page.

Getting it on loads of pages at the moment. Plus pages are taking 5+ mins to be displayed, and when they do the bottom of the page says it only took 5 seconds to generate the page?
