I had been tempted to add a "No Betting Talk" addition to the OP and thread title. Might just go ahead and do it.

The betting expecally on the sunday tends to be nailed on so i think its best to do this just in case

After the Rumble and the Rollins thing I'm gonna stay offline till the main show starts I reckon. Not massively worried re Mania as theres a load of matches and not just a singular but just in case.

Elias will be interrupted by someone no doubt and a few fit that bill

The only thing that bothers me about the possibility of Kofi winning is that footage of his victory will forever be tainted with that God awful looking "Eco friendly" WWE championship

Throw a black and white filter over the footage and no one will be any the wiser!

I’d love to see Big E and Woods cost Kofi and start a monster stable with Rowan and Bryan. It’s been awhile since we had a good stable

Watching Smackdown reminded me that the Women's Battle Royal winner gets a trophy to remind her of her reproductive system.

So looks like the preshow will be the Battle Royals and the CW title match. I'm assuming at least one of the tag titles will be on there as well

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 23,222 ✭✭✭✭J. Marston

That and the Andre trophy are the cheapest, tackiest looking things. So plastic-y.

You can tell it was the Saudis who stumped up the cash for the "World Cup" trophy. At least it looks some bit prestigious even if it is nonsense.

Noticed that owens is not down for the Andre i wonder if hes the one to interupt eilas surely not going to leave him off the card with the battle royal there. TBH id say multiple people will interupt him like carmella and truth for a dance break

I hope they give Orton vs Styles between 12-15 mins. Just enough for a nice fast paced match, anything less would be too short and any longer would risk becoming boring.

This was my dream match for a few years from like 2007-2010 so I'm gonna stay excited and hope for a class match.

33/35 I got the guy the rock squashed wrong. I knew it was one of two. I got the IC match participant wrong but got the mania V one right on a punt.

Guessed his age, the Demolition tag title match was my only slip up; 34/35. The last question was a surprising stat tbh.

So the Raw Tag Title match has been confirmed as
The Revival vs Curt Hawkins & Zach Ryder

    https://www.instagram.com/p/Bv2K_tbFNbP/
Probably the laziest build ever, maybe a shock title change but damn

I really hope they give Ryder another title win at Mania and then making him lose the next night at Raw.

I really want Eric Rowan's fastest loss record to Rock beaten by a Hawkins roll up.

FTR, For The Revival? BTR, Bury The Revival.

That makes it 16 matches on the card right?

At this rate it'll be bright when we're going to bed

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,641 ✭✭✭RollieFingers

The Revival vs Ryder and Hawkins? Wow, I like the Revival but that is grim for a Wrestlemania title match.

  • Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 42,604 Mod ✭✭✭✭Lord TSC

It screams pre-show, super short match to pop the crowd.

Honestly, I'm not massively bothered. My hope is if they lose, they get drafted to Smackdown quickly.

Cause Usos and Revival could be magical.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,774 ✭✭✭SureYWouldntYa

Since the womens titles will obviously be on 1 person after Mania, I’d much prefer if they had a womens division exclusive to Raw and a tag division exclusive to SD

If nothing else it would highlight the differences between the shows, as opposed to it just being Raw A and SD B

The card is way too stacked.

You can't have people sitting outdoors in New Jersey in early April for 7 hours.

They're going to be dead by the time the Main Event rolls around.

The next thing the casuals will start leaving early, especially if the match sucks.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,774 ✭✭✭SureYWouldntYa

Part of me hopes a walkout does happen, as the Takeover events have shown us less is more sometimes and it should be the case for Wrestlemania moving forward

Matches like Shane vs Miz, and Joe vs Rey are good matches with a good build but will get absolutely squashed in between the other 13 matches on the night

The slow pacing and ‘wwe style’ of matches these days makes the night really plod along

WM17 had 11 on the main card and because of the lack of 5 minute recaps for every single match, lack of special entrances for all the big matches as well as the high pacing of most of the matches helped make it the most well regarded Mania ever

I think the crowd will be fine. Roman's mega-push over the last 4 Manias turned the crowd sour late on, they were seeing the same stuff year after year. Superman punch, oooooaaaahh, spear x10.

They've got feuds that the fans are into in a big way now. No-one is going to be chanting "Same old shít" during the main event this time. They just need to pace out the big three (Kofi/Bryan, Rollins/Lesnar, triple threat) in a way that doesn't drain the crowd too much. Whatever the result of Rollins/Lesnar, it should be short-ish.

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,428 ✭✭✭MrKingsley

Alistair Black is so much fun to watch. I like him with Ricochet and would love them to win the tag team match.

If they don’t I would really love black to get a big push.

I think he’s one of those that could be huge as either a heel or face

I really hope so, but I know that I crashed hard at the start of Styles vs Nakamura last year despite wanting to see that match in WWE for about a year

With the chance of 3 babyfaces winning their main titles it could end up being a real fans Wrestlemania

I don't agree with the spacing of the big matches, for me you do a PPV in ascending order getting better all the time, you need a certain match to start the card off right but it should be getting better with each match, don't have us see Kofi winning the title only to have to see Shane vs Miz next because it's just such a bad comedown

I suppose it's time to post this

not sure what it is but its something of an aurora/wow effect about matches at mania even though we saw some of them before eg Batista vs Triple H, Orton vs Styles, Rey vs Joe etc and feels like its the first time these matches happend

Expecting a big shock and Batisita too win and Triple H too 'retire' but come out of retirement sometime down the road. Bastista is a bigish deal in Hollywood and will bring great publcity too WWE

Looking like Rey is out of mania and will be replaced.
    Cena
    is the obivious choice

The Elias segment will be a cluster**** with many interruptions

Dont give a toss about the battle royales but love too see Braun go on a streak and kill everyone

Miz vs Shane, Mens tag titles and Reigns vs Drew a bit meh but they could be good matches. Expecting all the faces too come out on top esp Reigns

hope Styles vs Orton is a classic. Nice too see Finn get a singles mania match for the first time and hope hes wins

out of the 3 big wins the fans want (Rollins,Kofi and Becky) i think we wont get them all and out of all of them Becky is near cert too win. Rollins vs Brock could go either way and they could want something big for Raw the next night Kofi vs Bryan is a little bit odd and would not surprise me ifs there a swerve of some kind involving Kevin Owens be added or something. Would love Kofi too win the title

    Actually cant wait for Sunday

It's difficult cos you know it's likely to happen but at the same time it's also not fair to expect volunteer mods to sit here waiting for it.

There's only one solution and that's to make me overlord of Boards.

Half hour interview with Becky from ESPN, I didn't watch it but someone on Reddit kindly typed out the cliff notes of it. Pretty interesting...

    • She talks about the moment Vince told her she was main eventing WM. She was driving from Buffalo to Boston, which was a 7 hour drive, and Vince called her personally to tell her she’d be main eventing, to which she replied ‘Thanks Vinnie, I bet you’re glad you didn’t keep me suspended now’. Becky says she shed a few tears of joy but then focused on what this match means and how important it is.
    • Ariel asks her whether she was worried that her match wouldn’t main event WrestleMania, to which she says yes. She says that the momentum of the feud dipped slightly due to the build. She goes on to say that Kofi/Bryan was gaining a ton of momentum and Brock/Seth was happening and she saw people calling those matches the main event which scared her because she wants this so bad. So she resorted to going on social media and cutting promos outside arenas in order to get that main event slot.
    • Ariel brings up how Becky is the first non-North America to main event WM since Andre the Giant, who ironically main evented WM 32 years ago – the year Becky was born. He asks Becky what her first WM memory is and she says because her family was poor growing up, she never really was able to watch WM. She watched the Royal Rumble because it sometimes aired on channels that she had, but not WM until she was a teenager. She remembers seeing Owen vs Bret at WM10 and something just clicked for her. That’s her favourite WM match ever.
    • Becky talks about how her brother got her into wrestling and that she just flew in for WM. Becky’s brother was a wrestler too, and he found out Finn Balor was opening a school an hour away from where they lived. She laughs about how her brother took the train to Finn’s school, but she got their dad to drive her there by car, so she arrived 20 minutes earlier. Becky says her brother was way better than her when they started, and she wasn’t good at all, but she loved it. He was teaching classes within 9 months and helped her a lot. Ariel asks about Becky failing PE in school and she says she was a chubby kid when she was younger, and she got made fun of because of that. Due to that, she didn’t like running and she wouldn’t do anything in PE.
    • When she was 17, she said to her brother that she thinks she can do this, and her brother has always supported her. She went to Canada because of a wrestler called Scotty Mac, who said that the wrestling scene in Canada was great. Becky had a cousin in Vancouver there who she hadn’t seen in a while, and it was easier to get a visa for Canada than it was for America. She got $30 for her first match in Canada, which was the most she’d ever been paid a lot. That wasn’t enough to scrape by so she had to sleep on people’s floors and get numerous jobs when she was 18.
    • Becky says she always wanted the women to be taken seriously. When she was about 18, she just wanted to wrestle in Japan, and she remembers another girl saying ‘WWE don’t want people like us’.
    • She left the wrestling business for 7 years when she was 19 because she was frustrated, her VISA ran out, her mother didn’t want her to wrestle and she was sleeping on floors. Everything got on top of her, but she was obsessed with wrestling and letting it go made her fall into bouts of depression. She always wrote in her journal that she needed to get back into wrestling. She also suffered a serious head injury, but it was the depression of being lost and not having any guidance that was the reason she left. Becky went to guidance counsellors constantly and had some really dark times – her confidence was at an all time low and she felt lost.
    • Becky says even when she got to NXT, she had little confidence. When training at the Performance Center, she kept messing up because she kept getting into her own head. She knew she was close to being fired but there were a few people who always believed in her, one of those being Dusty Rhodes. Becky says that Dusty likes broken toys, and she was a broken toy. She talks about how Dusty’s last tweet was about her being a top star. That tweet sticks with her because at the time, no one would’ve thought it but the fact that he outright said it in his last tweet was amazing. His last words to her were ‘Shut up Becky’ because she was mouthing at him and she stood there laughing. She jokes to Dusty that she will never shut up and says that she’ll be thinking about Dusty this Sunday.
    • When Becky was lost, she was in Orlando and she called her mother and begged her to let her come home. Becky’s mother refused and said that she needed to see this through because she’d given up everything and she wasn’t going to let her give everything up.
    • When Becky was around 13/14/15, she was heavily drinking, and smoking weed. There were some tough family problems that made it hard for her, so drinking helped her escape all of that.
    • She remembers sitting with Finn in Dublin and saying she wants to get back into wrestling. And he told her to get back into it because he didn’t want to be sitting with her 10 years later for her to be saying the same thing. She didn’t return right then and there but she landed a role on The Vikings as a stuntwoman. She hadn’t been a stuntwoman before, so she decided to practice in the ring to prepare herself, where a trainer said that she still had it and needed to go for a tryout.
    • She called Robbie Brookside, who remembered her from a match she had with Paige’s mother, Saraya Knight. Robbie remembered her and wondered what had happened to her, but he helped her get a tryout.
    • At the beginning of 2018, Becky came back from doing the Marine, where HBK told her to come back to wrestling with a different energy. She talks about MITB 2018 where the crowd went crazy for her every time, she climbed the ladder, which made management realise how strong her relationship with the crowd was. Despite her position, she always had a good relationship with the fans. She then went on a winning streak and won the right to have a singles match at Summerslam until Charlotte swooped in, which got people angry, so she realised that other people saw it too.
    • Ariel asks her whether she’d be in the main event if it wasn’t her Nia Jax breaking her face. Becky says she thinks she would have. Initially, WWE was obviously going for the ‘corporate main event’ of Charlotte vs Ronda, but she felt like that was a fight with no substance. There needed to be some salt behind it and that’s what she brought. She brought soul and heart and that’s what people could relate to.
    • Ariel asks how Becky honestly feels when Ronda saying that wrestling is fake. Becky thinks it’s completely disrespectful. She says no champion should say that. She says it’s ridiculous how Ronda 4 months into her career was crying about how hard the schedule was in a YouTube video despite being handed everything. She got all the press opportunities, yet she cries in her kitchen that her part-time schedule is hard because she can’t make breakfast for her husband. Everyone else works 52 weeks a year and loves it and they do it with the dream of main-eventing WM one day. Ronda was handed that right and still disrespects the business.
    • He asks if WM will be Ronda’s last match and she says absolutely. Ronda can’t handle losing, we’ve seen it before, and we’ll see it again at WrestleMania.

    Awesome video.

The reaction to her slapping Charlotte at Summerslam is still fantastic, it was like something from the Attitude Era the way crowd instantly erupted.
