Spent 5 hours playing Metroid Prime this evening. (Bloody artifacts took longer to find than I thought they would!)

Got up to the final form of the last boss and just had to give up for now. 5 hours of Wiimote controls and my hand and neck are in tatters!

Really annoying as I was determined to finish it this evening.

Found the last boss of Metroid Prime quite difficult until I got the super ice missiles. The ice weapon is kind of pants against him but upgraded and it makes that phase so much easier. Means you go into the final form with a bit more health.

Yeah when that boss changes into the ice form, the ice beam really is slow and useless for landing attacks. Especially as it absolutely mills into you at this point with his own ice attack.

Can't remember if I have the ice missiles, will have a look. Am tempted to have another go after work this evening, however my neck is still killing me today from the Wiimote

It's a fantastic control scheme to explore the game, but really doesn't lend itself to repetitive boss battles.

If you are missing them they are, iirc,
under a bridge tunnel in the lava place. Scan it and make a hole in it. Think it's a super bomb you need, reminiscent of the noob tube everyone gets stuck in in Super Metroid.

Excellent! I must have them and just never used them, definitely remember bombing that tunnel and picking up a powerup underneath.

Don't have much time for gaming now and I play only one game from Drakemall right now. I checked reviews about it on drakemall.info before playing. I can get cool items while playing so I play it amost on a daily basis. I like easy games with interesting plot.

One of my great shames is not completing Metroid Prime, I just couldn't crack that final form of the last boss.

I didn't even get that far. Drifted away from it and never went back. Twice! Getting the urge to break it out again. Not a fan of the Wii controls but it does work well for this.
No sign of a Switch port no?

I've attempted to play through it about 4-5 times. Starting with the Gamecube version a couple of times and then the same with the Wii version.

It's one of those games that if you step away from for a while, it's hard to get back into - so you inadvertently end up starting from the beginning again.

Definitely worth sticking out, it's by far one of the best FPS games ever made and still really holds up well to this day.

Ya that's what happened to me. Stepped away and when I came back I'd forgotten what was going on and where everything was. A Switch port would be nice because I'd be more likely to sit and play it in the evening. Got it working on the Wii U gamepad screen but it's a bit small for comfortable play

Would be just my luck for Nintendo to release a HD remaster just as I finally complete it

I'd be pretty sure Nintendo will release a HD trilogy to drum up excitement for 4.

Is it not all but confirmed the Switch port of Trilogy is done and dusted?

No mention of a port at all but this is Nintendo. They could hold a direct and say the trilogy will be out in a month.

It's only rumour, so take it with some salt, but - http://www.nintendolife.com/news/2019/01/rumour_metroid_prime_trilogy_for_nintendo_switch_is_ready_to_be_released

Or else they'll sit on a potential goldmine of a conversion and let it wallow in obscurity for a decade or so. Ninty make some funny decisions sometimes :D

If the rumours are true, I'd say they'll time it to appear ahead of Prime 4, whenever that may be.

Yeah it was probably ready for the Prime 4 release which has been delayed.

Would make sense to release it now so people can spend some time playing through the first few games in anticipation of 4.

Maybe they could be nice and stick Samus Returns on there as well!

Picked it up recently, it's looks the part but I'm finding it a but odd on the 3DS, I'd be far happier with an upscaled version on the Switch

It's decent enough but the reliance on the counter attack gets stale well before the end. Enemies are total damage sponges meaning the counter attack is the only viable attack.

Must play more AMR. What little I played of it was fantastic.

Played a bit of Wipeout VR, really cool free update. I could see myself getting really immersed looking at the track ahead. Need to get back into it, very fun game and a good challenge too.

Started and finished Silent Hill 2 last week using the Enhanced Edition mod for the PC.
Start to finish loved the game, loved the little bit of lore I was able to find around and the backstories of the secondary characters had me very interested.
A week on and I find myself still thinking about the game and the world it created, something that rarely happens to me, especially when visiting older titles I missed first time around. I must get in a second playthrough after Dragon Quest 11.
Highly recommend Silent Hill 2 if you haven't played it before

Finally getting around to The Last Guardian and I must say I'm quite impressed. Not running into any issues with the AI not doing what it should. Preferred Ico to SotC so this sort of blend of the two is a pleasant surprise. The environments and animation are fab.

I've honestly never finished it without a walkthrough at some point. The Silent Hill games look pretty good with 1080p and wide-screen mods.

Is there anything else in the mod other than resolution? I must give it a proper playthrough soon, give all the riddles a proper attempt etc.

Most of the mod seems to aimed at bringing the pc version up to the standard of the ps2 version with some of the xbox improvements as well so outside of higher resolutions and widescreen, there's not a whole lot more you wouldn't see on the consoles. It seems to get updated with some regularity so there could be more added down the line.

Hi there, doe's anyone remember an arcade game, where you had a shield which comes out of a chain.
You'd use the shield as a weapon.

Hopefully I'll add it to my collection on my Huawei p20

Any of you guys playing much Tetris 99 on the Switch?

Started sinking some time into it last night. Managed to get down to the last 10 and almost had a heart attack from adrenaline - at that stage there was zero skill and it was just me freaking out trying to juggle pieces at the top of the screen as long as possible.

Im bloody addicted to it ! and still havent managed to win ....a lot from my own mistakes.

highest is 3rd loads of times and in the top 10 a good bit.. i just cant get the win...some have been short battles others long where i lose ultimately i think not embracing tspins is my down fall ....well thats what i have convinced myself of anyway

That's about where I top out at. Had a 3rd placed finish once but haven't got past that yet.

I have noticed that playing without sound helps me do better though. The way the music ramps up with more and more players going out made it too tense for me.

I would be playing Silent Hill 2 on PC but having some trouble with all the Enhanced Edition mods...

Edit: Seems to work now, but it's too late to start. Need to map the Xbox controls also. Gonna try do a walkthrough free playthrough for the first time ever.

Yep, well you get a single continue after the 4th stage but that's it.

Apparently there's a couple of cheats, one to skip stages and another to continue after either stage 4 or 5. Neither seemed to work for me, might only be for NTSC....

Well at least it isn't the arcade Double Dragon 3... I'm not sure what happened there but that game is pants.

Just finished a no walkthrough* play of Silent Hill 2 for the first time ever. Much more enjoyable without a guide. Had some trouble with Enhanced Edition but got it sorted in the end. Voice acting isn't as bad as people made it out to be when the voices were redone for the abomination HD Collection.

*had to use a walkthrough for the coin puzzle in the apartment, I put a coin in by accident so could no longer read the riddle hinting at the coin locations

Started FFV on the SNES at the weekend while hungover and totally addicted.

I can see why this was the game in japan to really kick the series into the stratosphere of popularity there.

The graphics are ok and the story is simplistic junk. The music however is great.

What really makes this game fun is how weird it is and how much options it gives the player even if some of those options don't work. It's what sets RPGs like this and Symphony of the Night apart from the tedious dreck like Ni No Kuni

What sets it apart is the job system. It's just so addictive creating totally broken characters. This is the game where the FF series got weird. I've been messing around with Blue Magic in this run and its equal parts overpowered and totally useless.

I can imagine when this game came out in japan and the schoolyard conversations.

'if you max out a ninja you get two weapons and can attack twice with any class'
'Yeah but with a max archer you attack 4 times'
'... what if you combine a ninja and archer, can you attack 8 times?'
