Folks, you were promised a monster edition and here it is. We are going mental as we take it continental. This is The Ultimate Battle of South America. A whopping 256 flags will be doing battle, making this the largest edition of the series to date. We’ll have nations, provinces, districts, cities and many other subdivisions of this wonderful region. The plan is to kick this off tonight with all going well. Would love you to get involved and spread the word!

Welcome to the Group Stage. This is always a great part of the bigger tournaments. Each group will contain four flags. You basically have to rank your favourites in order of preference. Please rank from 1 to 4 as points are awarded for each placings and this can be crucial. The top two from each group will progress to the knockout stages.

Reasons aren't madatory at his stage but may be used in the event of tie breakers.

Each Group match will last 15 minutes.

1. Durazno (URU) - love this flag, beautiful colour scheme and imagery, hope to see it go far!
2. Madre de Dios (PER) - admittedly boring, but I like green and the diagonal stripe and I'm not feeling the other two
3. Moquegua (PER) - emblem is so detailed and doesn't seem to fit amid the vibrant tricolour IMO
4. Flores (URU) - non primary colour scheme not to my taste

On the whole they seem to have some nice flags down there so far!

1. Mato Grosso do Sol (Bra) - I like the asymmetric nature and the simplicity without being boring
2. Yaracuy (VEN) - very colourful but with white and a smaller simpler crest than so I can like it
3. Galapágos (ECU) - a bit boring
4. Santiago (CHI) - tis grey...? Grey is not a flag colour for me (if there is a nice one later please don't remind me I said this)
