Its the red one I'm talking about. It was 7.69 last year (the 7.49 is marked as a discount!)

I think the white is still under €7 but I've only bought that once.

I should try more from their range but I just keep buying Animus because its so solid for that price.

Yeah it's the red I bought..... was sure it was 6.49! Maybe not though. Still great value!

Lots of amazing Irish products in the stores from today as part of an Irish campaign.
I think at least 35 or so in and 6 have the chance to get listed.
The Irish Biltong is lovely - way nicer than the jerky sold. I picked up some amazing Irish honey and smoked mackerel too. Could have easily bought more!

Don't think any of those from the last campaign are still in the Letterkenny stores.

If they are priced like the oven chips mentioned earlier then I am not surprised at all.

There are many Irish products from Irish suppliers already on the shelves, I doubt those new fancy, overpriced products are fit for Aldi tbh.

Aldi had 500ml bottles of Garlic & Herb Sauce on special a few months ago. Our bottle is nearly empty. Any ideas where we can get something similar?

The Velo coffee, Cider Vinegar and the Lullaby milk were all part of the last campaign and are available in all Galway stores.

I'd like to know this too. The brand is Crucials, and while Dealz sometimes have the yoghurt/mint one (nice) and a garlic one (bleh), I've never seen this particular garlic and herb one there.

Iceland might be worth a look I suppose, or one of the chain butcher shops?

Might be the best bet, indeed.

Dealz can have it, but last time they only had the garlic one, so be careful to read the label. Any butchers I saw it in charge stupid money.

Are these anywhere on their website? Going shopping later want to see if anything is worth looking for.

Expensive. Pizza base I will try on Sunday, but most of the stuff is really expensive.

A can of lager at 6 euro per liter etc... I just don't get it.

It is a nice idea, but most of it is priced not to sell. Hope they worth it, though.

On a separate note that pizza base is not really made in Ireland, more like Northern Ireland ;)

Just had the west cork haddock goujons, they are really nice. They are quite expensive at €4.99, they are part of the new Irish range that’s just come in. Can find in the fridge section.

  • Registered Users Posts: 10,934 ✭✭✭✭fin12

I agree a lot of the new Irish range are quite expensive, there’s carrot cake there for €6.99, it’s bigger than the normal size ones but still think it’s not worth that price.

  • Registered Users Posts: 13,687 ✭✭✭✭wonski

I mean pate for 32 euro per kilo???

For me it's more like PR excercise than anything else. Ready meals for winners at 4.49 when they already have nutriquick meals for 1 euro less.

Organic cheese appears to be priced right and I will try it, too.

SV and Dunnes stock these permanently at €6 per pack (350g) so a bit of a saving in ALDI I guess. They are fabulous and in fairness a very high quality product 80% haddock, and no additives, vegetables oils or whatever, just like proper home made goujons whereas a lot of the mass produced ones are white fish that could e anything and not high quality haddock. I think the price is fair for the quality.

Oh right I didn’t realize that, I’ll def be buying them again.

I tried the chilli beef wrap today and thought it was lovely. Nicer than the nutriquick ones. I also got the chips and they were really nice. I think they were both worth the extra euro. I have some curry paste and white pudding to try too.

I’m definitely not wild on the idea of bread ingredients in a plastic bottle.

Talk about tone deaf in the current climate around single use plastics.

Also probably an expensive way to make a simple bread recipe.

I don't want to comment on chips again but I find them ridiculously priced. Beef wrap might be nice, but 4.50 is just too much imo to find its way into budget supermarket. Tesco and petrol station are better places for those products.

I have made a comment about fancy and overpriced before we got the direct link to the products and unfortunately I was right.

These days it seems it is either fancy well priced stuff or cheap sold in volume. I wish to see more middle priced food items.

Not surprised a lot of food start ups die early with 7euro/kilo chips on offer. The others rely on supermarkets.

I just want a middle shelf were things are packed normally and just good quality product.

The bottle of bread is just ridiculous.

Maybe Aldi doesn't see itself as a budget supermarket anymore. It's all about the quality of food for me and small food companies are going to be more expensive by their nature. Maybe if they get chosen to become part of Aldis core range the extra volume will reduce the price.

Btw the chips were worth the price for me. Aldi sell sweet potatoes for €3 per 500g. Not much of a difference!

The Range stock these sauces and have a selection of most of the different types. There is a Range beside Tesco Maynooth and up in Liffey Valley, in the retail park where Argos and Curry's are.

They’ve a store up beside Northside Shopping Centre which also has an Iceland. Good place to start looking. Thanks all, would never have gone in either of those places otherwise.

aldi were always... different. Unusual and not the same ranges as tesco etc.

    specialising

Many items were way above the others in style and content. eg the club sandwiches and the salads..NB not been able to go shopping since last year so may be out of date
