I've never been up to either but will make a trip sometime, luckily local supervalue stocks both.

I think the quality of FW went downhill when Molson's took them over.

Haven't had a Friar Weisse for a long time, beautiful cold beer on a hot day. Always thought it was way stronger than any other beer I tried.

Had crushed boiled baby potatoes with garlic and baked gougons of pollock for dinner, there's a few potatoes left to be fried with the breakfast in the morning.

Smirnoff and cranberry juice with crushed ice now.

I've raided the stock tonight, so it's cheapo lager from Aldi, but not that Galahad/Excelsior poison. Tastes German. Certain it's a German style. Goes down well. I made some burgers today. Gonna have mine later with mushrooms, chips and the Asian market standard Szechuan sauce that 99.9 Chinese takeaways use.

I think Friar Weisse was my favourite Franciscan Well beer but haven't seen it on tap in a long time. Everytime I find a beer I like on tap it invariably disappears shortly afterwards.

Chieftain was my fav from them.

Making more German food now, speckgriller sausage with sauerkraut and fried potatoes. Same as last night.

When you eat as a single person, there is a lot of reusing.

    The Chef had roast chicken.

That's me sorted now until the roast venison about 6ish.

They look like the lovely potato pancakes from IKEA. Are they your own recipe?

No...I was actually in a cafe beside my apartment. To be honest they look better than they tasted. There was Greek yogurt on top that just didn't work. Not having much food luck this weekend! Had Indian food last night and was sick in the middle of the night. It was horrible:(

Gross, report that to the Food Safety Authority. They're great to do prompt, unannounced inspections when you provide the details of your food etc.

Or bad review on Justeat etc. I don't think I ever got sick from a takeaway but only get them irregularly now. Still not acceptable.

Sorry to hear about that Indian takeaway. I'm a fussy fecker on Indian/Chinese takeaways. When I was on the road with work with a late night return, I actually created a list of decent places near enough to home depending on which motorway I was on. Never let me down. My local delivery options are crap. Have to drive for at least 15 mins for a decent one.

Back on topic. Had a nice, simple and tasty dinner. Roast spuds, mushy peas, carrots and roast loin of pork. Some Bisto gravy for the splash down. Suppin on a nice French lager from Aldi.

I got a vindaloo with chicken and it was really good at the time but very oily. I felt fine going to bed but woke in the middle of the night with my tummy in knots. I was sweating and shivery. I'm like a child when I vomit, I get really emotional. Haven't felt right all day despite taking motilium :/

You should definitely put a review up. It doesn't have to be very scathing just that you felt sick after it. Vindaloo is a lovely dish but very hot, but if you were getting sick there's no excuse. You could have got them on a bad night but still no excuse.
Love Indian usually but when it goes wrong it goes horribly wrong.

You're right Surreptitious. I love Indian food but this has really put me off. There was leftovers in the fridge and even as I was throwing it away my tummy started flipping. I'm gonna have some soup now and bread and possibly a beer to see if it helps.

Bone and rolled a leg of venison during the week for a couple of roasting joints and had the first one today.

Nothing added, put in to an uncovered pyrex dish at 180 degrees for 70 minutes and then wrapped in tinfoil and left to rest on the worktop for 40 minutes, could have cut it with a spoon. The gravy was made using the juices with no honey added for a change because we are out of it.

Turned to the youngest lad after savouring the first taste of the meat to ask what he thought of it and all that was left on his plate was potatoes and veg. He'll never make a vegetarian anyway.

Had a colour coordinated dessert and finishing off now with one more Irish coffee before an early start in the morning for some exercise before work to try and replenish the fridge.

Lovely! Earlier I had Peppa Pig and you've just had Bambi! The veggie/vegan police could be shutting us down soon.:D

My last French lager. Heading into town tomorrow to replenish the stock in general.

A beer would definitely help 🤔as it has been proven to have healing agents in it 🤓

Have lamb burgers with freshly picked rosemary, salt, crackers (saw that here rather than breadcrumbs) onion and an egg in the fridge getting ready to be cooked. Going to do on the BBQ with longstem broccoli and asparagus. Just finishing up work and having a beer while doing so:D

Curry noodles tonight with a cheese sandwich. Everything that is not really much came from Aldi. Had Cottage Pie for brunch. The girls had that for dinner last night and tonight. Baked beans on the side. Getting tight enough here and today's plan won't help.:D

Ha, I just bought that today to serve with salmon, cottage cheese and chives tomorrow.

Today was a heavy one because it's all go at the moment and we're running on fumes so might as well try and sustain ourselves somehow! Breakfast was hash browns and a chorizo and egg wrap with cheese, fried onion and mushrooms.
    526483.jpg

Dinner was a very creamy pasta with cooked chicken and ham.
    526484.jpg

Dessert was apple and rhubarb crumbles with cream and custard. Took em out of the freezer myself and everything, haha. Handy to do portions in ramekins the fruits are in season though, then shtick em in the oven for twenty minutes when you want em.

That all looks tasty. You must be in Cork city too so. The bread was super fresh and crumbly. I had an upset stomach and thought the soda would settle it.

Nice. Who needs sauce when you have buttery spuds.

NEWS ALERT - Aldi Meatballs are absolutely crap! Cooked them today with mash and gravy for the girls. My heart bled as I watched them struggle and be polite. I tasted one and it was like a ball of rubber. I usually make them or buy in from my local butcher. The Supervalu version are good too. Stay away from Aldi Meatballs if you have the taste for decent meat. The spuds were good as they are real local.

I'm trying to budget things out by buying meat from Aldi, but I'm done. I can take their sausages, rashers and pudding, but the little extra in the local butcher for chicken, beef and pork is worth it. Grabbed a piece of sirloin from the freezer earlier to defrost, so it will be that with mash, mushrooms, peas and a drop of gravy. Aldi for loads of stuff, but they can fook off yet again for their fresh meat products!

Sure have Mam. They'd be included in my " local butcher" and Mulhall's Supervalu as well. Hardings on the way through, plus a Takeaway later at night.:D Hogans when I'm in town on foot. All good. I love Aldi, but since day one many many moons ago, their fresh meat just doesn't hit the spot. Tried it again for budget reasons, but feck it. I'll stick to my usual haunts for meat.
