Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Maybe he should have read the signals from McGregor and not taken his phone out. Just because people are obsessed with taking videos, instead of experiencing real life, doesn't make it ok.

He's one person fed up of a phone in his face so it wouldnt take much to set him off. If Mcgregor was been friendly and offered to shake his hand and this fella decided to shove his phone in his face, its annoying.

Not for a second excusing his reaction though, its criminal and over the top.

i agree but mcgregor would want to cop on to himself, is it worth ending up in prison or being banned from entering america?

In order to have a downfall you must first have achieved something.

Conor McGregor fights for a living.

He was the first ever dual weight champion in UFC history. If it was that easy, everyone would do it. I think he's a complete knob but to say he hasn't achieved is just lying.

George St Pierre and BJ Penn were dual champs long before McGregor.

I don't call his Featherweight win an achievement seeing as he is a lightweight who had to go to extremes to cut weight to gain a size advantage.

He got handed a lightweight title shot in a UFC money grab.

He certainly doesn't have a talent or power advantage at lightweight seeing as he struggled twice against Diaz and got wrecked by Khabib.

Beaten or not, Alvarez had a point with his Emperors New Clothes analogy.

Wouldn't be his biggest fan, but to earn over 100 million is certainly an achievement.

Cormier did it too, and was dual champ for a lot longer than McGregors 13 day reign. He also defended his belts.

Agreed. Not the biggest fan of Conor myself but for him to have had the success that he's had in UFC is an achievement I think, and so what if others have done it first as well. It doesn't take away from what he has done in his career and in life.

So you're suggesting that to undergo a weight cut of that type while maintaining enough muscle mass to compete against a world champion doesn't take skill in and of itself? Cutting without losing muscle is difficult for most people at the best of times, cutting under those circumstances and successfully taking on someone who's more used to that weight and hasn't had to undergo a major cut in order to prepare for the fight is something else entirely. Not many people could do it and win.

Wrong. GSP didn't become a 2 weight champ until he beat Michael Bisping in November 2017. A full year after McGregor beat Alvarez.

    As was randy couture.

Couture was indeed a 2 weight champ. But the significant thing about McGregor was that he held both his belts concurrently and was the first to do so. The feat has since been repeated by Daniel Cormier and Amanda Nunes.

That said, I think Penn and even Couture's achievements were more impressive. The fact that we went 25 years without a concurrent dual champ in the UFC and then had 3 in as many years highlights that the UFC love to offer champions shots at other champs in order to create that scenario.

McGregor was just lucky to be the first to have the opportunity. Although that doesn't mean it wasn't a hell of an achievement to make Alvarez look as ordinary as he did.

Yes I know Penn tried and failed, but you get my point. McGregor was the first in the UFC's current favourite marketing trick of dual weight champs. Even when it fell through with the collapse of the RDA fight they let him put the FW belt on the shelf for a year while he faffed about fighting WW and LW.

PS on topic, McGregor is a scumbag but he wasn't always a scumbag, I know promoters who knew him on the way up and whilst he was always a cocky prick in the cage, he was respectful and a decent guy outside of it.

But money can change people and it certainly seems to have changed him.

I'd love to see him cleaned up and focused but sadly I don't think we'll ever see him really fulfil his potential. No doubting his achievements so far but he could have done so much more.

I don't get the whole GOAT and legacy thing. It's prize fighting. Get in, get rich* and get out.

*Only a fraction of a percent get rich.

Plenty of sportsmen and women are motivated by money. The best are also motivated by competitiveness.

McGregor has made more from MMA than anyone else in history. But I totally understand the desire to be known as the best who ever fought, not just the wealthiest.

Simultaneously I meant, as in two titles at once from different divisions. He was the first. Anyway, even if he was the 1st, 2nd or 5th, still doesn't detract from the fact he's talented. I don't like him all that much but to deny he's good at what he does is just lying.

The "fan" has filed a civil lawsuit against Conor. He wants $15,000 on charges of 'battery, assault and intentional infliction of emotional distress'.

McGregors' lawyer said "Our office is in receipt of the civil lawsuit filed today, which is nothing more than a quick effort seeking a payday." Which is true but they will probably still pay out some cash anyway.

The strangest thing about the whole thing was the T-shirt.

Given he's rumoured to be facing certain allegations that he hasn't denied in Ireland, a shirt emblazoned with "if I say it's happening, then it's happening" seems positively creepy.

After his arrest he sold the shirt on his site for two days too.

Leaves a very nasty taste overall.

Maybe a float with the Hitches and Kinnehans next year.
