as far as intercounty injuries are concerned so far

oisin o'brien or john conlon did not feature for clonlara ,both are expected to be ready for june 5th , conlon is regarded to be ahead of schedule in his recovery was involved in the warm ups before and at half time

david mac did not play for tulla friday night and is touch and go

arron cunningham enters the injury list after picking up another hamstring , not sure the extent of the injury but looks a serious doubt ,

connor ryan played the full 60 minuets against feakle yesterday , and looks set to return

colin ryan played the full 60 against wolfe tones today

senda morey ,jack browne , paul flanagan , all came through the weekend , and are the other 3 that did not line out against waterford the last day that would be pushing for starting places on june the 5

great win for them in fairness they battled well in the second half , ballyea over reliant on one or two players for scores , david reidy was excellent in extra time

any idea of the final score ?

edit: checked twitter final score , eire og 3-26 1-23 balyea , great performance in extra time

Great performance by us alright. Didn't see that coming after league losses to tulla and tubber. Reidy was outstanding. So glad to avoid that losers group anyway.

they looked a little sluggish in the first half , and after the bad start to the second they looked in real trouble , but credit has to go to ye for the fight after that especially when ballyea started missing chances nearly every wide was punished with an eire og score , mark o 'donnell scored a lovely goal in extra time which really killed the game off , taught thomas downes , david reidy and danny russell were excellent in the middle 3rd , tony didnt get much spare change of downes

i actually tipped eire og at the start of the week , i just felt the scoring options for ballyea were slightly limited with one or two lads they had out injured , too much relient on niall deasy today for scores

Dion Fanning & Kevin McGillicuddy tip Clare for 2016 Hurling Championship.
4 Pundits tip Kilkenny and 2 Waterford. Zero Tipperary.. interesting change from 100% Kilkenny this year.

never put up the draws for the 2nd round of the club hurling championship , the draw took place monday night , in the winners group eire og and clarecastle provide probably the tie of the round but all games should be close , taken from the clarepeople twitter page no anouncement of when games will take place

    https://twitter.com/BrennanEoin/status/734800130679934976

in the losers group , most of these would have been expected to be challenging late on in the year , will be one or two big names heading into the relegating play offs, sixmilebridige v kilmaley the pick of the round. the ballyea v newmarket winners will also have a huge say in the championship , some draw to be fair :pac:

kevin mcgillicuddy used to work for clare fm for years , not overly surprised to hear his selection , at least the media have not jumped on the clare bandwagon after the league final in the same way they have done in the past , i imagine there would be more support for tipp after last sunday too

no john conlon. david mcinerney , aarron cuningham or conor ryan for sunday week against waterford , reports suggest, so we will be pretty much unchanged bar cuninghams injury , disappointment really , was hoping david mc and conlon would be ready by now

Yeah its not ideal considering Waterford are getting back their two best scoring forwards to full fitness. Is O'Brien likely to be back? We could do with him marking Curran. The David McInerney back injury looks serious now, Ive a feeling we wont get him back this summer.

That said we do have a good squad. We are going to have the likes of Tots, Colin Ryan, Duggan x2, Shanagher all fighting for Cunninghams spot which is encouraging. If O'Brien is out, Browne, Morey or Flanagan can come in. If we are down 4/5 players again, it wont be used as an excuse.

If Maurice is back to full fitness he is a big boost. I'd be surprised to see Mahony back properly for the match to be honest, and possibly not this season. He's only played a few minutes of a couple of games at intercounty. It would be a big ask of the lad to play a big role in the championship.

Maybe if we just had two forwards like Kilkenny do we might rush him, but I think the guys we have are capable of filling in.

Yeah true, Bennett has that 11 shirt locked for the summer. Its probably looking like Brick Bennett, Dillon, Shanahan, Curran up front? The would give ye the likes of Mahony, Dunford and Devine off the bench which is a kinda scary. I'm a bit worried about Shanahan if he can return to form. There was alot of space in our full back line and instead we look to push up around midfield, Maurice could give O'Connor a tough time 1v1. I suppose we will see how things go over the next few days.

its great to have so many options , but david mac and conlon in perticular are huge players , i hope macinernys injury is not as bad as it seems because if it is he could be out for a while

i think oisin will be there or there about's but there is good cover for him good and all he has been , i wouldnt be surprised to see conlons name on the bench for the waterford game either

From a few people Iv talked to, dave Mac is out for the year unfortunetly. Would be a huge loss.
Id be optimistic that conlon will be able to play some part next Sunday.

puts one or two things in prescriptive, was wondering what was up with conor ryan too we could do with him back too , looks pretty sure that david mac is out for a while , if the injury is as serious as it sounds then he should not be rushed back , pitty about cunningham , he has been plagued with hamstring injuries through out his career , big loss for next week

its been a quiet build up for the footballers after an excellent league campaign , the squad were quickly back into training after the win over kildare 4 weeks ago , while the bookies have us as odds on favourites , tommorows game will be close , very close , a limerick win would probably be seen as a shock but they dud have a number of injuries through out the league and never got going

last year limerick beat clare by 6 points in the league but form was reversed come championship , attitude is key from our lads if they are to avoid the opposite from happening here tomorrow, gordon kelly returns at center back , while sean collins starts at wing back ,dean ryan starts back at corner back ahead of the unlucky sean malone who had a fine league campaign , podge will start from the bench , this is still a very young team with pearse lillis , cian o'dea making there championship debuts, the half forward line trio has a combined age of 59 so any sort of win in the gaelic grounds would be seen as a good result

    joe hayes

Dean Ryan, Kevin Harnett and Martin McMahon
Sean Collins Gordon Kelly Cian O'Dea
    Gary Brennan Cathal O'Connor.
Keelan Sexton ,Pearse Lillis , Jamie Malone
Eoin Cleary, Pat Burke David Tubridy.

    clare 0-16 - 0-13 limerick

footballers make hard work of this one never really got going , very poor first half with both teams very wasteful , only highlights would be a keelan sexton point from distance and a well worked move by podge shortly after his introduction for the injured cathal o'conner to leave one between the sides at the break

limerick persisted with a defensive game plan with short kick outs and multiple short hand passing for long periods of the game , the game did open up in the last 15 or 20 minutes but clare kept limerick at an arms lenght 3 point lead for most of the half , a late half chance for the home side saved by joe hayes

brennan , tubridy both seemed to pick up knocks while worryingly cathal o'connor limped off before half time makeing him a doubt for two weeks time ,dean ryan jamie malone and keelan sexton were probably our best performers , much better performance needed the next day out though if we are to ask anything of the kingdom

    scorers
    jamie malone 0-4
podge, eoin cleary, david tubridy and keelan sexton 0-2 each
gary brenan, cathal o'connor sean collins and shane mcgrath 0-1 each

Brennan seemed to be really struggling today and wasn't his usual dominant self even though he did score a brilliant point late in the second half. Ian Ryan's frees kept Limerick in it in the second half and Podge was a fantastic replacement for Cathal O'Connor. Some of the shooting in the first 10 mins was woeful from both teams. Hopefully any injuries from today were just niggles and everything will be ok for 2 weeks time

both brennan and tubridy were not themselves ,noticed joe hayes was avoiding any long kick outs to brennan so something might have been a miss, limericks tactics ,made no sense they only looked like challenging when they ditched there negative mode and went more direct but it was too late at that stage

we could do without any injuries for two weeks time if we are to be any bit competitive in killarney so hopefully everyone is 100%

A repeat of the 1992 Munster SFC could be on the cards in Killarney in 2 weeks if the team stay injury free ;-)

:) it would be fantastic but , in my opinion it would be a slight step too far at this moment in time , some good work been done with the underage so i expect the conveyor belt of good young players to continue and the squad to get stronger over the next couple of years , there are still two or 3 players out injured to come back for this year too

however if we are to beat kerry any time soon it will probably happen in cusack park other then any where else , we are going in the right direction though

Yea, honestly it is a large step too far right now but that was what the Clare fans thought in 1992 also I guess

It'd be a massive step for a young team, but they won't go down there with no hope. In 92 we were shocking against Tipp in the semi final and went out to make history.

In terms of championship, beating Kerry in Kerry is a massive ask, as since 1928 (before then championship records are patchy/incomplete) only 2 teams have beaten Kerry in championship games played in Kerry.

    Cork are one.

    The others are
    Dublin

Cork have only managed it 8 times in that time period.
The Dublin one was when an All-Ireland semi-final was played in Tralee in the 20s or 30s
