no idea - all I know is the place is full of more tossers than the convention centre on a mcgregor/aldo presser day, he was interviewed by glenda gilson - she made that "money channel" interviewer sound like an MMA genius - "so conor, we're all proud of you, keep it up" - I like listening to Conor in interviews but i feel dirty having watched that tripe!!!

I think this lad needs two threads. One for fight/UFC discussion and another one for touchbutt/socialmedia/shoes discussion. The second one could be in AH maybe ?

Just wondering what became of the young MMA fella that was on the late late show? His mother seemed to be anxious to get funding for him.

Presume that was that kid Nate that asked Dana for an advance? He's still training away. He's got almost 13k followers on twitter pretty crazy for a kid his age.

Yeh he's definitely ahead of the competition for his age. So often you see kids like that lose track once they hit their mid teens and temptation gets them be interesting to see how he gets on.

Hopefully his gym mates like McGregor and Holohan keep him focused.

How scary are the next-generation generation of mma fighters gonna be, they'll make Anderson, Jones look average

Big time in a few years we're going to have a generation who have grown all with their focus purely on mma instead of migrating from something else the difference in the sport in the last ten years could be nothing compared to the next ten and us older lot will be like Yeh these new kids are good but they would never have beaten jon Jones back in the day!

These two will only fight each other in a play station match.

Strikes me that the situation is essentially this, both of them want to do the fight, but both want it to be on their terms. Since Dana White has said it would have to be UFC sponsored match, that means Mayweather will have to cave or White will have to agree to some compromises on the format, rules, etc.

It occurred to me earlier on for example that if Mayweather demands a four sided boxing ring while White insists on the Octagon, could they compromise by using a hexagon-shaped arena? :D

Bottom line is this, if there's money in it, the UFC will go for it. I reckon any objections they might have to the format or rules would evaporate fairly quickly as long as they're the ones who make the money from promoting. So beyond that, it's for McGregor and Mayweather to work out a compromise with regard to the rules.

It's never happening but Floyd would never give up a cent he's not due. He gets a cut of food/drinks sold in the MGM when he fights, he leaves nothing on the table!

If nothing else this story has spared Mc Gregors blushes about clearly being outplayed with the recent failed bluff ending with him being off the 200 card:)!.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,797 ✭✭✭✭hatrickpatrick

I don't know why everyone's saying it'll never happen, tbh. Leaving people's expectations about the result aside, Floyd really wants to do it, Conor seems to want to do it, Dana White is open to it, so why wouldn't it happen? As I said in my other post, the only question is how much each of the three are willing to compromise regarding rules, venue, promotion, etc.

Probably because the majority on here have followed MMA,boxing, Floyd,Conor,Dana,UFC,etc for quite some time and can spot fake hype a mile off

That's not really an answer, though. What specifically makes this fight so impossible, if everyone with a stake actually wants it?

Because Mayweather would only take the fight under Boxing rules and McGregor would only take the fight under MMA rules. No chance either of them budge for obvious reasons.

One reason is you'd have a hard time convincing any state athletic commission to sanction a fight between one guy making his pro boxing debut and the other 49-0. It's just a total mismatch.

ummmmmmmm there wasn't even a question though. Oh wait everyone wants it? Well thats definite proof that it will happen then

Conor takes that fight in a heartbeat for the right money,in a Boxing ring.

yeah if the money is on the table and dana & the ufc brass are on board, theres no reason for him not to take the fight, dont think he wins unless he gets extremely lucky but he doesnt get ko'd, floyd is a highly intelligent fighter and would never completely change his fighting style on the head of ego and come out swinging wild and risk is 50-0 record, if the fight were to happen (which I dont believe it will) floyd runs away with a lopsided decision. Also no legitimate reason for the fight not to be sanctioned, true its his ''pro debut'' but Conor isnt some bum off the street hes a UFC Champion with a background in boxing who regularly spars with high level boxers. As i said ill be super surprised if this ever happens but not going to lie it would be exciting to see.

    McGregor's like a drunk knacker..

    "I'll fight any man!"...

Mod Note: Already warned before about trolling and fighter bashing, people who just drop in to the forum randomly to make silly comments are only going to be shown the door as quick..

I dunno i could see the fight ending up something similar to the Gatti fight and that would not be a pretty outcome for Conor.

Gatti was a brilliant Boxer and Floyd absolutely destroyed him,its probably one of,if not Floyds best performance in the Ring and while it might be a few years back,if he can do that to a seasoned elite pro Boxer like Gatti, its not hard to imagine he could do that to Conor.

How sick would it be if Conor flash KO'd Floyd like he did to Aldo though.

Imagine McGregor of all people was the one to take Mayweathers 0, the Internet would implode.

And with a thoughtful statement like that you are exactly the type of lad who will be targetted to buy this nonsensical rubbish on PPV.

He's just asking a question. I've seen stranger things happen. If Leicester can win the PL then anything is possible.

I think you need to take a deep breath and read his post again.
