Anyone who received their phone, did you get a 3 pin plug with it?

I did, used it to charge last night.

Just as I was about to go to bed last night I checked my phone and saw I had an email from PM raced over and got it and subsequently stayed up until 1:30 playing with it and setting stuff up.

So far I love pretty much everything about it. Those of you still waiting having had to deal with HTC it's worth the wait. However having gone through the whole experience, I hope nothing ever happens to it because I never want to have to deal directly with them ever again.

The charge has been pending on my account all week as €652 and when I looked this morning there was a tenner or so less in my account than there was when I checked it yesterday eventually realised the payment to HTC went through as €663.

Now, back to playing with my new toy :D

Yeah, I had really good turnaround from Parcel Motel. Only got to Antrim yesterday morning, had it in my hands by 9pm last night.

Got all set up last night, but later today I'll be starting all over again as I unlock bootloader, s-off, and start doing some beta testing for team venom.

Judging by twitter, a lot of people accidentally ended up with eu adaptor.

Saw this camera comparison with the S7 and thought it'd be worth a watch for some guys here :)

The HTC 10 in that video does not have the very recent camera software update that makes it better than or equal to the S7 in most conditions. The S7 is still slightly better for night time and low light shots but there is almost nothing between them now.

    Oh really?
The video is only from May 10th, but already out of date?

    My bad, sorry :D

One thing Sammy are very good at is releasing a device with pretty polished software. After that, their software support is abysmal.

HTC are the complete opposite. Never have their software optimised enough on release, but will constantly improve through updates.

I'm looking forward to seeing what they can get out of the hardware over the coming months.

Never had a HTC phone myself, but my cousin has the M8 and the 10 looks really nice, so I've been hovering around this thread to see what people are making of it :)

Enjoying the device so far. Unlocked bootloader, s-off and started using Viper10 ROM yesterday. Some of my impressions:

    - Build quality: top notch, they've done another good job.
    - Screen: I got the Sharp panel, seems really nice. No complaints there.
    - Headphone sound: I'm no audiophile, am stuck in a timewarp listening to 90's hard rock/grunge. Headphone sound seems really loud and clear though.
    - External boomsound speakers: Probably the biggest letdown for me. I only really use these speakers for listening to music when having a shower, and I would say it's quieter than my last 3 devices (M9, Vodafone Smart Ultra 6, S6 Edge+).
    - UI: HTC have done a good job thinning things down, everything seems nice and smooth. I miss a few sense features such as grid for recent apps rather than the stock cards, but hopefully devs can add this back.
    - Camera: Really quite impressed. I'm so used to living with average HTC cameras, but I'd say it's at the very least a match for my S6 Edge+.
    - Battery life: Really can't gauge, been flashing stuff way too much. Impressions are that it's better than the M9, maybe around M8 level. Quick charge is handy to have.

I also had a couple of Spigen cases which I'm alternating between, the Rugged Armor and Thin Fit. Rugged Armor probably seems a little too bulky to me, so I'll probably use the thin fit most of the time.

Apparently you hold the Home button and Volume down to take a screenshot. Anyone help as I can't seem to get it to work.

    Yep, it works for me...

BTW. I took some photos with the family over the weekend & I have to say I was astonished at how good they were. Very vibrant and even the compositions looked better than with my M9... (I'm sure the fantastic Irish weather had something to do with it).

I really don't care for statistics, or whether they have produced the no. 1 best ever camera in a phone ever... But I do like the quality of the photos. They're great. Happy Days!!!

Tell me how you do the screenshot, maybe I am not pressing them at exactly the same time or something.

Have you noticed any chipping on the chamfers from removing the cases, I have a slim armour case lying about that I hadn't bothered putting on.

Have to say the 10 genius substantially faster in everyday browsing and keyboard input etc. Wasn't expecting such a leap coming from the M9.

    Is it locked to 3?

Yes all phones sold from Three are locked in the Three network, at least this is what the rep said to me. Got mine from the Three website and it's locked as well. I have to say, the bloatware was acceptable, there's only a couple of Three apps in it and the Three logo appears only when you shut the phone down. You can uninstall the apps pretty easily.

BTW, I noticed that uploading pictures to Facebook make them smaller and lower quality than they actually are. On my old HTC M7 they were uploaded as they were. Same if I first transfer the picture to my PC and upload it through Facebook's website, all good. Does anyone know if it's a setting in the phone or in the Facebook app? Pics are pretty bad after being shared on Facebook.

I think thats just an app setting...

This encryption business on the phone is an absolute ****ing joke. Its making everything awkward in TWRP and with rooting and custom roms.

I have a nandroid backup that it wont let me restore even though it says it completed in twrp it just goes straight to factory settings.

I have the phone rooted and s off and i dunno how many times ive had to reinstall things back on to my phone since i got it last week.

The fact i have a perfect backup of how i want my phone and i cant even ****ing restore it now!!! I dont understand why it wont work.

Yeah, the devs are struggling with a lot of stuff as well.

I only have my stock backup, haven't tried to restore anything yet. Don't have the time to be messing with my phone much at the moment, so have a working Viper10 beta running and will try to leave it that way for a while!

Apparently beaups has solved encryption in recovery, so new recovery in the next couple of days should solve a lot of issues.

Have to say I love this phone, definitely best I've had.

Has anyone ordered direct from HTC on the Irish website? If I pull the trigger today, how long should it take for delivery?

And what if I went with HTC UK? Not sure there is much of a savings though the code doesn't seem to work anymore.... And I don't have parcel motel or any of them set up.

    What would you do?

Just tested. HTC10 discount code still works out for UK site, so you're looking at approx €100 cheaper. I'd definitely go for that.

Setting up Parcel Wizard or Parcel Motel is very easy.

Edit: Make sure you select express shipping on the UK site, it's free. Standard shipping is more expensive for some bizarre reason.

What colour did you all go for?

I'm thinking Carbon Grey.... but the silver does look good too.

hard to tell when it's not in your hand

    Thought I was going mad.

Tried again.... still no discount. They also wanted £13.62 for shipping

Checked and checked... tried and tried again. Still no different. Basically the same price as getting it here.

Cleared my temp internet files and tried again. BINGO. Discount working and shipping looks like it's free also.

I seen something on the TV recently about this. Websites are out to get you.

Now I guess I should sign up to Parcel Motel etc before I go any further with my order. Which is the best option? Does any of them still offer a free stay for new customers, I can't seem to find anything.

Also, I see some of you ordering spurious covers. Why not get an official HTC cover? I think it looks good

I got silver but the front is white. I guess if you are going to put a cover on it, it won't make much difference.

I signed up to Parcel Motel. I notice their address is actually Northern Ireland and not mainland GB. Will HTC UK send to NI? Has anyone done this?

For anyone who bought from HTC. Did you create an account? I click on that and it just brings me to their home page.

Do you just need to check out as a guest?

I actually thought that I already had an account from buying accessories before, but when you click login, it also just brings you to the homepage !!!!!
