And is it easy to watch content on these on ipads? Or do Apple restrict them?

    Why?

Well, speaking personally, the only videos I've ever gotten working on them are Apple specific codec. And, that only worked when I imported it from iTunes on the laptop to the iPad.

I've no idea how to do otherwise. Not like an Android tablet where you can drag and drop.

Yeh, was hoping it was going to be just like android, appears not....... But Apple don't seem to do easy. One of the main reasons I've never bought any of their products. They sell fantastic (if expensive) stuff but have them way too locked down.

I think you can use Vlc . I haven't tried as yet but it's meant to work.

Buy the app nPlayer. It will play any format you like on an iPad. Anyway this is a subject for a completely different thread!!!

Is this still a good deal?

If you're only getting it for the ipad - probably not. But if you want it for the paper too, then I think it was/is a good offer...

It certainly wasn't a deciding factor in getting this deal, but there's also the "members offers" e-mails you get; mostly competition entries (meh) and the 2-for-1 Odeon Cinema vouchers.

I reckon I've almost squared the difference between the total cost of this deal and the actual cost of buying the iPad outright, using the Odeon Cinema vouchers alone.

Obviously this deal offers the major advantage of having access to The Times content too...

It doesn't add to the native storage of the device. It basically has to swap files in/out

There's also a free Kindle book every month, quality differs however.

Do subscribers get the ePaper or just an app version of the Times?

You get an app which includes the ePaper, and access to the website. If you're into the paper it's a good deal. Includes video content, highlights of some premiership matches (west ham V ManU for instance). I'd recommend it.

Ye,I'm tempted as I tend to buy the Sunday Times most Sundays and its €3 so extra €2 for a full 7 day sub is not bad. Pity expandable storage is a hassle but its not a dealbreaker. One other question-if I sign up,can I access the content on my Android phone?Or is it only the iPad and Apple devices?
EDIT- Sorry, just checked their site and it says "On which device is the app available?Apple iPad, iPhone, Android phone or tablet" So thats another bonus. Is there a limit to how many devices I can access content on?

I have it on android tablet, 2 iPads, 2 android phones and the website on multiple computers, don't think there is a limit :)

What do you mean? I only an option for the Irish Irish section on the app and it's pretty small, wouldn't be near the amount of Irish news as the Irish times or the independent

Is there a section that I haven't found?

It's possible you downloaded the wrong app. There is a UK version and an Irish version, you can download either (or both for that matter).

    Irish iPad version: https://itunes.apple.com/ie/app/times-sunday-times-ireland/id978384946?mt=8
    UK iPad version: https://itunes.apple.com/ie/app/times-sunday-times-daily-edition/id364276908?mt=8

I I don't think so, the app on my galaxy phone says Ireland edition... When I open it, it opens on the Ireland tab, there's about 20 Irish news and business articles followed by about 15 sports ones, they're the only Irish stories I see

Ah. I get the impression (I might be wrong on this) that the phone app has less articles available than the tablet apps, so it could be that?

Apologies in advance if this is a stupid question but is it the Sunday Times and the Times (Irish Edition) or the Sunday Times (Irish Edition) and The Irish Times that is available on the Ipad ?

The Irish Times is a completely separate entity.

It's the The Times Irish editions, all week.

still haven't figured out if i am missing some Irish articles/sections on the app

I've the update on my android phone and tablet, and the old version on the ipad, it hasn't gotten the update yet

But i still dont find it to be nearly as in-depth as say the irish times or independent newspapers, there's maybe 15/20 articles for irish news, similar for irish sport and similar for irish business, then theres the uk section and world news

i'm assuming the app is normal but i expected alot more irish articles, similar to the physical irish broadsheets

Why would you expect this from a British news organisation?
