Just wondering lads what do ye think of my idea of getting up early in the morning to squeeze maybe an hour of extra study in for the summer tests. I do study at school already which is 2 hours and then maybe half hour at home, this isn't enough and I just can't make any more time anywhere else in the day other than just getting up earlier, thoughts

I find a lot of the time when I get home I am very tired so I find going to bed early and getting up early can work for me.

Ya true and I find that I am more of a morning person than most and am more alert, probably just need to go to bed a bit earlier

Just had a quick look at that website and it looks really good! Definitely going to be using it in the next few weeks as I engage in a major cramming session...

Has anyone here started their RSR? We have to have our first draft of the extended essay in by the end of the year.

How many poets have ye all covered? We're just finishing up our third and are leaving the other three until sixth year.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,572 ✭✭✭VG31

We've done three and are doing one more this year.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13 JimPatTom

All we'll have done by the end of the year are 2 poets and hamlet. Sin é.

Other 2 honours classes have 2 poets, hamlet and all the comparative done, and are doing one more poet before the year is out.

Yes, I did ask to move classes.

    Twice.

My class have done two poets , Hamlet , a good few question Bs ,One of the comparative modes and we're moving on to our next poet in the next few days.

Early morning (within reason) is a good time to study. A short run or burst of exercise beforehand to get the blood flowing and oxygenated would make it even better.

We've done 4/5 poets and are starting another one next week. We've also done the comparative and a good few essays and comprehensions and that stuff.

Does anyone ever blank out on a test in class ( one that you studied for) or am I the only one?

How are you doing with chemistry? My class has done the first 14 chapters in Chemistry Live. My teacher wants to do chapter 16, Rates of Reaction, before the summer exams start. I have so much to revise.

Ok I'm not the only one :) it's annoying and its worse when it's the subject you love and do well in class questions

How do you guys get all your exams done in one week???
Ours is a bit over 2 weeks long!

Do you only have one paper per subject. We have two papers for English, Irish and Maths plus orals and listening.

A single 2-hour paper per subject.

One paper for each subject. 3 exams on the first 3 days and 2 on a Friday. Options such Geography and Home ec have special allocated times since their is two classes also biology but the the rest of the options are slotted for option 1 e.g business or chemistry option 2 e.g or music option 3 woodwork or history so on. Orals and listening sate done in class.

What subject is your favourite at the moment? Mine is English even though I'm not the best at it but it's enjoyable and the teacher is sound.

Favourites are maths followed by chemistry.

One paper per subject all orals, aurals and practicals are done in class before the exmas. We definitely wouldn't have enough of paper two covered to maths to get a full paper done you must be flying through the course.

The joy has been knocked out of them by this stage in my eyes. Maths and physics are still OK though (when you're getting stuff right)

I thought every school would have done so, especially since it is our last 'big' set of exams before the mocks next year. I know some schools do Christmas exams in 6th year but we don't.

So are you guys not tested at all on all the sraith pictiurs you learn throughout the year or the other stuff for your modern language?
