I fully expect him back for New York, and I fully expect everything to be smoothed over. Which is exactly why tweets like the one from Kavanagh earlier have got to be counter productive to this whole thing.

They need to find a path to reconciliation now while both saving face. Neither will want to attack the other particularly, they are worth too much money to each other.

Fully expect him to be on the New York card too and have said it from when this all kicked off but at this stage he is over training with Gunni who has a fight in May anyways so the training is as much for Gunni as it is for McGregor. They have nothing to lose really trying to get things their way with these tweets, it will do very little damage. Dana will either fold or stand his ground, most likely stand his ground and then UFC 200 will go ahead without McGregor. They will say no more about it and UFC New York will be announced with McGregor on the card and Dana and him will be buddies again.

The pic of him taking the phone off McGregor is brilliant I think. Lightens the mood,

    Didn't see it.

Does it explain his tweet from earlier that I asked you about?

Nothing to do with being an internet tough guy...you use your real name and I can find you on google..and I am supposed to be impressed/care or  im confused.

Point is come on here posting nonsense like ""got that out of the way?" is going to lead to a ban. Your post count means you might not be familiar with the rules of boards of the forum, would suggest you go look at them.

Thanks, anonymous internet guy. Familiar with the rules, but I genuinely appreciate your concern. Your being impressed or caring means nothing to me. You being confused however? I totally get. I could explain it to you, but I'm a busy guy.

BTW, it's not cool to bend what I said. You made a blanket statement, I corrected you. That's all. No big thing.

I will admit "Got that out of the way?" was a little on the rough side as rhetoric goes, and if your feelings were hurt, I apologize without reservation.

Anyway, back on track, I hope the UFC and Conor resolve matters. I wish Conor, his family, his team, and everyone involved in Irish MMA nothing but the best. They're good people.

It has become too big now and too public for Dana or the UFC to back down, it isn't an option for them anymore.

McGregor won't be seen to come crawling back either so it will just go off without him, and then everybody moves on.

Dana has been at pains to get across that he isn't angry (has to be a lie) that he still likes Conor etc, and Conor did not attack Dana in any way personally, that I saw anyway, so they made sure to leave themselves room to move on from this when it blows over.

Conor said in his statement he wanted the schedule changed, he never mentioned the UFC changing anything.

Yes, we are all aware he wanted it changed. But that's because the promo schedule changed. The team have alluded to a change of schedule, he wasn't originally supposed to be doing promo work this week for example.

Of course, but he is not playing the situation perfectly, or making it smoother for McGregor if he is antagonizing their boss is he?

That's all, he comes across well the vast majority of the time, as an aside a friend of mine met them at dinner last night and spoke highly of both, but the man can be an absolute disaster when it comes to twitter. It isn't the first dumb tweet he has had.

Are you referring to Kavanagh asking people to boycott 200? Didn't see where he asked people to do any such thing.

The main sticking point for the UFC I think is the whole point of him fighting Diaz is the media tour beforehand. If it was RDA they'd prob let him skip it. But himself and Diaz on a long tour, isolated together, all the UFC see is $$$.

This isn't exactly a precedent either. Aldo asked late enough to be excused from UFC 194 due to him wanting to focus on fighting. Conor did the leg work for both men here and Jose didn't have to leave Brazil until fightweek and missed all the pre fight pressers.

Then how would the UFC be able to pull him from a fight when he signed a contract?

I'd imagine the UFC contract allows them to schedule promos at any stage.

    Ok.

You actually want me to show you the tweet where he told people they are the customers, its up to them to cause a fuss, what do they want to see press conferences or fights...

    Or you wanna use google?

Edit: Ah you know what, thats mean. Maybe you aren't going to argue semantics with me.

    Here

    @John_Kavanagh

Ur call now. You are the customers. What do you want? Press conferences or fights? Make some noise because we're ready to do the damn thing!

How is that the same as asking people to not purchase and watch the event?

    Maybe you should Google "boycott".

I enjoy a good semantics debate as much as the next man..........which is not very much tbh.

If you don't want to admit him referencing them being the customers, asking them what they want to see, telling them to make some noise etc is encouraging them to not purchase or support the event....not to mention pressurize the company, good luck to you.

If you think it helps smooth over anything between Conor and the company or that the company won't take that tweet to be an act discouraging people supporting the event, or need people to spell out absolutely everything to you, good luck also.

Publishers write that ****. Nothing to do with me. I spent my formative years as a girl guide and my evenings are spent doing knitting and needle point.

If I'm allowed to be serious though, and as I've said to someone in PM, I have been seriously impressed with the Irish MMA community in the last few weeks. If Ireland had a fraction of the pragmatism, humanity and heart that you guys (and gals) have then we'd been in great shape.

Okay, tear to a glass eyes stuff over, please resume the Conor conspiracy theories. :)

Sounds that way alright but wasnt there a mention that he asked for it to be moved to May rather than this week as well? Its still all very wishy washy in terms of the specifics of contracts and what was there or not but it seems stupid on both parties to sign a contract that doesn't clearly stipulate the specifics of all promotional commitments required. If it does then I really don't see why he would be complaining about it now and feel that they would just bend on it but likewise if it just generally says promotional commitments and they added in a mini tour after he signed its a bit cheeky on their part. Neither would surprise me at this stage though and imo the outcome is still he will just fight at New York and that will be that.

You completely missed the point of his tweet. He's asking the fans to make some noise to get Conor back on the card. In otherwords tweet Dana, UFC etc etc to push for Conor at 200. It's not a request to boycott.

Yeah they could if they don't like money. Is UFC a publicly traded company?

    Really?

I appreciate that you interpreted it that way, except one thing. Why did he reference the people as customers, as in paying for something, and not simply fans in that case?

There is a difference in "you are the fans, what do you want to see"

And "its up to you now,you are the customers, what do you want to see"

Why make reference to them being customers, and not fans?

Because the customer is always right. You the "customers" are the ones shelling out money. Push for Conor. They have to listen to you "the customers". I think you're being a bit pedantic to be honest. I take what he said at face value.

cos promotion is to get customers to watch
    the fans will watch anyways

I don't think its me being pedantic about it tbh. I think you may be deliberately, or accidentally being naive about it but I don't feel the need to argue over it though. It is there for all to see, people will draw their own conclusions from it, as they always do.
