I also feel like there is more to it.

Yes, he is getting too big and UFC want to bring him back down to earth but 200 sells itself and they have plenty of time for more media.

    Feels like something has happened.

Everything was OK, he was away training, then this, so weird.

Were the contracts not signed already so the pay would've been agreed on?

Bit unfair on people who half paid to go to see him at 200.

They were signed a long time ago, Conor still has a few fights left on his deal that he signed. It was agreed that he would headline 200 before he even had an opponent. He would have recently signed a contract agreeing to fight Nate but that wouldn't have had any new monetary terms though.

If GSP has not signed a contract yet for 200, he must be absolutely delighted.

I'd be thinking the same unfortunately. I really hope I'm wrong though. All was fine up until today. He was training in Portugal and now Iceland. The UFC would not pull him from the card just because of a press conference considering the money he would bring to the card. I'm also guessing contracts would already have been signed regarding payment so I doubt that's the problem.:confused:

Would make the whole journey of the last 3 years seem like a fraud.

I think we'll see him promoting his own fights sooner than we thought. I wonder would he go up full belt against the UFC and try get a fight at Croker in November.

He's probably in his prime too now at that age so missing fights while hes healthy and fit is pretty annoying, hes not taken a heap of damage in his career but still, this means we will see less of him fight in future I presume.

It's a bull**** excuse, I reckon it's a pay dispute or something of that nature. The promo thing just doesn't seem right.

You'd have to be fair soft to book flights and a hotel before secured tickets to the actual event.

If he pulled because of money, then that is truly stupid on his part.

I did it for 194, along with plenty others who did the same for all the previous events. Worked out great. Prices of flights and hotels usually rocket once tickets are on sale, supply and demand etc.

Certainly doesn't make me or anyone else "fair soft" whatever the hell that means.

It just doesn't make sense, surely Conor would know that him saying I don't want to do the press conference would result in problems.

Looking for an excuse to quit and make it look like it wasn't his fault?

Well there is no guarantee you'll get a ticket to the main event and be stuck with useless flights. You can get f*cked both ways because you are gambling on getting the tickets.

Thats the gamble, you get cheaper prices for taking the risk of booking early, cant have much sympathy for anybody ''stung'' here, they still get to see a good weekend of serious fights.

call me deluded here but the fight is still 10+ weeks away? and this whole incident has produced ten times the publicity any press conference could have? is it all part of the plan?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 796 ✭✭✭Deadst4r

Going to be really interesting to see where Conor's relationship with the UFC goes from here.

I can see him being pretty stubborn about his next fight.
