    My thoughts:

Some sort of camp started last week. 12 weeks out.
The UFC wanted Conor in the states for media.
Vegas is not exactly around the corner from Iceland or Ireland. And it wasn't just Vegas.
They announced a mini-tour two weeks ago.
He said I'm not doing a world tour during camp.
The UFC got the hump and said you are off the card (bye bye big payday for Conor)
Conor said, in that case I retire (bye bye big paydays for the UFC).

He's hit them where they hit him. With reasonable heads this would be resolved. It may not in this instance.

It's funny, he's saved 3 shows yet now that he finally wants some form of media break (which I think he's duly earned) Dana decides to make an example of him.

Talk about eating bread is soon forgotten.

Can't believe he's retired, bizarre stuff.

Mellor, if that scenario is accurate it means he is turning up nose at a big payday. Something he has been mouthing off forever as being his sole purpose.

It makes sense as a fighter but not as a money tart.

So the 2 lads are retiring within a few hours of each other.

I wonder where they will be fighting now???

Possible break away from the UFC?

Who else do think has retired?

If you are talking about Nate he hasn't retired

Not possible. Under contract to the UFC

The payday was taken off him by pulling him. Whatever card he moved to would still be a decent payout, but probably less. If response Conor has taken that from the UFC.

    This is all still resolvable.

So there was something in this after all? News talk just said he's missing his next fight anyway

I would imagine so, he could be sick of the media at this stage, he could be looking for more money, he could have wanted to have an uninterrupted camp because be knows he needs to be on top form, or something anyway there has to be way more to it I would imagine. We should find out soon enough he will out something out.

It seemed true to me from the beginning. Amusing how many people thought he was "trolling".

Ironic since that's essentially what you're doing now.

    But he's not retired?

To the people saying it's because he will have two losses on his ufc record in a weight division above his own saying that's why he retired have 0 clue whatsoever about the nature of fight promoting.
Think of every Redemption story evern in boxing or the ufc and how they made millions and stop to think how easy McGregor could talk himself up as being out to rectify mistakes.
Nothing stays secret for too long and eventually well find out why but seeing as McGregor repeatedly stated he'd leave the ufc after making enough for himself money wise and how he has been proved humble in victory and defeat I'm inclined to give the man the benefit of doubt for now.

Is it possible to get a summary of what's actually going on without reading 20 pages of people talking crap?

McGregor has been pulled from ufc 200 for refusing to do media work essentially.

So now it's Conor who's running scared, just like he slagged off the others for doing so!
Anyone who believes this media duties excuse is a fool. He was out of his dept with Nate anyway and it would of been a definite KO.

He didn't pull out, he was pulled and there's a big difference.

I'd say it's purely down to Conor not wanting to do a whole theatrical press conference on the back of a fellow MMA fighters death which he was a witness to only recently.
There's no way he could show up and trash talk how he does if he's got that in the back of his head.
Conor was obviously looking for a bit of leeway in this instance and UFC weren't budging, so I'd say he said 'f**k you'.
I think Conor thrives on the press conferences but I doubt he was gonna be able to put on the big show on the back of all what happened to Carvalho.
And no doubt some idiot in the press would have questioned him on it.
For Conor I'd say this press conference was one a bit too soon.

Isn't it clear that this is all one big game of who blinks first between Conor and the UFC?

It looks to me like Conor is not happy about certain details leading up to UFC 200, so the UFC is doing a Mick McCarthy and sending him home, but instead of going back to Cork and walking his dogs Conor has decided to "retire" to force their hand.

He already fought Nate so how has he ducked him or ran away scared.Christ on a bike.

    Exactly

How could he get motivated to promote a fight after watching someone get beaten to death in a cage.
I'm sure this tragedy has lots of fighters rethinking their futures.
Conor used to call mma a game, well the stakes just got higher.
