    Stupid question maybe here...go easy...

Would he not be obliged by contract to have his fight at UFC 200 ? Even if he did want to retire now?
Would he face a fine or a court case for example?

I believe he would face some sort of financial repercussions unless he can prove he is injured. Someone else might be able to confirm.

    No, but he'd receive nothing.

I would imagine Diaz would still get most of the portion of his fight purse though if he ended up not having a fight.

If he was retiring based on what happened to Joao Carvalho right in front of him, then I don't think the UFC would push any court cases or other punishments on him.

I severely doubt that's the case though.

I hope your not actually serious, and are a parody account.

Considering its nothing but speculation and media hysteria right now you cannot be any more certain of how true it is no more than anyone else. So quit the dick measuring contest and using a charity bet as some way to validate your petty squabbles and personal remarks.

Same applies to anyone else involved in this crap..Callaway, Tinie, Charlie Haughy

I genuinely don't believe so tbh. I could be wrong but from an ethical and moral point of view I don't think any contract can force a fighter to fight if he doesn't want.

That being said, he also can't piss off from the UFC and go to fight for someone else.

As someone who doesn't care about MMA I find it highly entertaining to watch everyone get their knickers in a twist over this.

To be fair, to come into a thread full of dedicated fans and tell them that you find their upset over one of their heroes' potential shock retirement "amusing" is a dick move, and on internet forums people are apt to call a dick a dick. :pac:

I think this obviously the closest to the truth, its pure negotiating where he is willing to retire in the short term if he doesn't get paid enough.

Personally i do hope he takes some time off and comes back with a different opponent at either 45 or 55,because the Diaz fight at 170 is unwinnable for him.

Ive never heard of this reporter in all my time watching combat sports are they legit?

If this is true I hope he cleans the ufc it would be terrific to see them pay a fortune for his services considering the reebok deal they have forced on the employee's,I usually dont care what they are paid because they sure as hell dont care what my boss pays me but the reebok deal disgusts me.

Great post. I mean, God forbid fans of a particular sport would take a keen interest in big news surrounding one of the sports biggest stars. Totally unprecedented.

So yeah, it appears they've pulled him from UFC 200 because he demanded too much money
