Oh dear, the big fella cocked it up......

    Evening (all) Heidi.

Poor ould Alan Carr had a complete horror show. Even if his fish was perfectly cooked and not raw he still probably wouldn't have gone through. Seemed a bit clueless.

    Fair play to cocky Pedro.

I thought Stretch Armstrong the personal trainer was blessed to get through. Charles was very negative about it.

Thought Mammy was unlucky, Julie was it? If she just served a few teaspoonfuls of sauce she might have sailed though, so thought that was harsh.

Not a great day for big Stewie alright.

Anyone else think that Pedro is the living image of Colin Farrell? :D What's he going to do when he runs out of Granny's recipes to do?

I thought the two women who left were very unlucky - both clearly very good cooks, it was a narrow margin that saw them out the door. The guy with the raw fish... well.....

Hi all, long time lurker. Loving the series so far. Just wondering do any of you know, in the critics round, are the chefs starting cooking times staggered? If not, surely it's unfair as the first one has an hour but the rest would have longer because the critics need time to eat each course etc.

Pure speculation here but I get the feeling that one contestant cooks at a time and John/Greg are there the whole time to give their undivided attention on them from start to finish.

That gives big gaps between each contestant. Maybe 90 mins or 2 hours or so, so that the guest judges aren't stuffed after the first dishes.

    Very time consuming but fair.

At least if I was the show runner that's what I would do.

All by my lonesome here tonight.

    Good episode.

That chap with the glasses is eerily similar to the lad who won Masterchef professionals before Christmas. He fairly nailed the first dish, maybe a bit too ambitious, but he is very good too.

For some reason I got quite emotional at Lauren's food.:) Well at John and Greg's reactions. Fair play to her. She could easily win it.

Every dish looked amazing. I'm cheering her on anyway.

Gabin finally provided some X-Factor open audition type LOLS :pac:

Poor guy, total horror show, but he was blessed the Greg Wallace lookalike was even worse than him cooking for the second time.

John is dour every episode but Greg seems to be having a great laugh.

He was funny roaring at Lauren.

They HAVE to be setting Noma up for a fall.....

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 32,381 ✭✭✭✭HeidiHeidi

Why would they taste desserts first

I'm guessing now that pasta and figs will turn out to be the next big thing, and John will have to eat his hat/words.

I think I've been watching this for too long :o

Three enormous steaks in one pan looks like a really, REALLY bad idea

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 32,381 ✭✭✭✭HeidiHeidi

Why would you not have an empty plate to fire your fondants onto?

Noma's steaks are still mooing, I can hear them from here

Is it me or Gregg is really unsuitable to judge a cooking competition? He really seems out of his depth sometimes, and not just when he declares that chocolate and ginger don't go together!

I felt like slapping him when the poor blonde woman was trying to plate up her chocolate fondants. He was so loud it was ridiculous.

Coriander dessert? It is either going to be delicious or inedible.

Good man the dessert-man (whatever his name is)

For fellas that aren't quite sure about the concept of a coriander dessert, the judges fairly shovel a large spoonful of the unknown quantity into their gobs :D
