How many times has Diaz fought at 170lb? I remember he missed weight with cowboy and had a catchweight fight didnt he? Rory stungun conor 1 who else did he fight at it?

I think hes too strong in the clinch for Conor we seen him put Conor against the cage and land some nice knee's,at 155 he might not be AS strong.

While Im looking forward to the fight, I think it's actually ridiculous that there is an interim title fight on the same card as the champion is fighting.

    Bit of a joke really.

Look at it the other way

Its ridiculous that the Champion is fighting in another Weight class the same night there is an interim title fight for his belt.

Conor should be defending his 145 belt or he shouldnt be fighting that night.

Even if having it 155 or 170 isn't going to have a huge effect on the outcome. It's makes more financial sense to have it at 170 from their point of view. This fight sells silly numbers no matter what weight they have it at.
Conor has already lost at 170. A loss here doesn't really hurt his "value" any further. It keeps his options open at 155 down the line. The 155 title run is still an option in future (after the 145 unification :o). If he losses to Nate at 155, he has one fight at 145 and nowhere to go from there.

To clarify: You and I, and most people here grasp that this is two 155ers fighting at 170. But to the casual fan, this is 15lbs heavier and a whole new division.

I just don't see the UFC risking giving Nate Diaz any advantage (however slight it is). At 170 or 155 if he gets battered again most people will just remember him being beaten up twice by Diaz and that hurts his value and makes the fight after that absolutely must win. I see your point though.

Sometimes it gets like the comments section on Bj Penn around here. I do wonder why some people take any interest in the ufc or mma in general when all they do is complain.

On another note July 9th is my birthday and I'm starting a "gofundme" to get me to Vegas all donations welcome ðŸ˜

Pretty sure he made weight vs Cowboy. Missed it vs RDA (rumoured to have a bad knee injury). Hes at his best fit and healthy at 155. Fought 4 times at 170 before the 196 fight and it was years ago. Markham and Marcus Davis.

It makes perfect sense for the UFC to want it at 170 if they want to turn it into a superfight with GSP - and make it rain with money

I checked there I remember he missed weight or something and it turns out he came in at 157 for the cowboy fight (not much I know) the MJ fight is a great example he put a clinic on him who was in serious form coming off a win over barboza.

I didn't say anything about cheerleading. I like a bit of discussion same as the next fella but when your discussion amounts to constant whining....your just complaining not discussing.

I don't believe he was gonna be fighting GSP. I don't think that was ever on the cards. (Note: this post could haunt me down the line)

Did you not think it was weird him being cageside in vegas?

Ken florian said that was the plan.

The UFC and MMA promotions in general are not exempt from criticism. People will give credit where it's due but I think this card is certainly open for debate. It's been booked very strangely.

There's some great fights there but the top end of the card is really underwhelming for the most part.

Definitely wasn't slabbering. Obviously the last part was tongue in cheek. I do enjoy your posts though so you weren't included in the Bj Penn catogory.

Maybe it's just me being a newbie so but I'm really looking forward to it already. Not just for the Mc Gregor fight either. Cain v Browne and Aldo v Edgar would be worth staying up for on their own.

From what I heard, didn't Zahabi come out and say he was going to the RDA v Conor fight anyway coz it was history in the making and when RDA pulled he went anyway. And was he not cornering a Tristar guy on that card?

That would not end well for Conor. He would get mauled.

He's about as effective at photoshop as he is at grappling against Demian Maia!

How could you possibly prefer a fighter to stay at home rather than see him fight at another weight class? This line of thinking makes no sense to me.

I think any of the light-weight fighters would let GSP maul them for over ten million (probably be a lot more)...

GSP probably walks around at close to 200lbs? Been off nearly 3 years? Maybe, that head trauma has cleared up...

Why shouldn't Aldo/ Edgar be fighting for the Interim 145 belt on the same night as Conor?

St-Pierre is probably in the top three fighters ever, but it doesn't say a lot for his character if he's gunning to get a money fight with a natural lightweight when he balked at the prospect of the money fight with Anderson for years.

It's weird, because I was talking about round 1 only, and you countered me with a reply about round 2.
